Chapter 4
As we were traveling to the Talons Of Peace base we were only spotted once. The scouting party of Skywings tried to insist that they let them take Frost. We ended up having to fight our way out, But with them being outnumbered and some of us having multiple abilities the enemy dragons were soon all unconscious and restrained as we flew away. It took us about a day and half to get to the base saving stops by eating pre caught prey midair.
It turned out this was not the main Talons Of Peace base which surprised me since this was probably the best hidden one. My thoughts kept circling back to Moons words.
Could I be the lost Skywing?
The group of dragons that escorted us led us to some spare rooms than set out to go get the dragon that ran this base. Said dragon turned out to be a dragon that none of them would ever expect, at first me my mom and my dad all thought they were a Seawing since they were varying shades of blue, but than we realized there was also... pink? As the dragon came more into view I realized it was not a Seawing but a Rainwing. What was more surprising was they looked serious and had lots of scars something that was extremely rare for that specific tribe.
The dragon introduced herself as Kapok, which if I remembered correctly from the scrolls was a type of tree that grew in the Rainforest. Despite her intimidating aura she turned out to be quite friendly. She asked us some basic questions like what our abilities were and what our relationship level was with the tribes we were descended from.
Magma explained that she and I had the ability to read minds and see the future as well as Fire breathing, than that I also had Frost breathing, and that Frost just had normal Icewing powers. And then explained our relationship with the Nightwings, and that the Skywings weren't on particularly good terms with them but they were aloud in the territory just not the main palace.
She also asked things like our ages, my Mother Magma and Frost were both 35 years old Hatched a few days apart from eachother, And I was six. Kapok asked what day I was hatched specifically and stiffened when my mother said that I hatched during The Brightest Night. Kapok looked at me with interest after that and seemed to be keeping a close eye on me. It didn't surprise me though I knew why she had her eye on me now.
I might be the lost Skywing, the queen had the poor Flamescales dragonet burn all the eggs due to hatch on the Brightest Night. Heck she even had her gaurds throw all the eggs due to hatch in the same month as the Brightest Night off the tallest cliff they had in the territory.
I realized while listening to thoughts around us that the reason there were alot of Skywings was because a majority of them had been parents to the murdered dragonets. I felt so bad for both the parents and the poor Flamescales dragonet who had to burn the eggs. If I remember correctly I belive her name was peril, poor dragon she probably had half of the tribe blaming her for the deaths of at least 17 unhatched Skywing dragonets.
Once my Mother and Father had fallen asleep I stayed up and was reading when a dragon named Opal walked in and said Kapok wanted to speak with me. I knew it wasn't necessary but I had been spending sometime learning the names of most of dragons at the base the was, Kapok, Opal, Summer, Cardinal, Lemon, Citrine, Sunflower, Wildflower, Pear, Cactus, Prickle, Tupelo, Reed, Shrub, Cypress, Duckweed, Maple, Buttonwood, Mink, Alligator, Algae, Kelp, Seaweed, Sharkie, Hermit, Seal, Squid, Ray, Sunfish and there were still a few more but I hadn't learned there names yet I walked into Kapok's room greeting the Sandwing gaurds whose names were Pear, and Tupelo.
Once I was inside and settled in a seat opposite of Kapok she started speaking saying, "So your a Skywing, Icewing, and Nightwing hybrid right?"
I thought that was and odd question but I answered anyway saying, "yea thats right why?"
When I said that Moons words were flying through head.
You may be the lost Skywing dragonet!
"And you were Hatched during the Brightest Night correct?" She continued intrigued.
"Yes I was." I answered.
Kapok sighed than said, "Permafrost do you know what happened to all the Skywing eggs that were due to hatch on the Brightest Night?"
With a sad face I answered her, "yes I do know, I mostly feel bad for the dragonet that had to use her Firescales to burn them."
Kapok grunted and showed me her tail which somehow I hadn't noticed before, it was completely deformed the scales melted together.
"I can still fly fine luckily but the burn wounds would break open eveytime I tried to tree hop in the Rainforest so they kicked me out. Im most commonly known as the only Rainwing in the war. During one of our escapes from freeing the dragons from Scarlet's prison, Peril grabed onto my tail to try to stop me." Kapok said with anger in her tone.
"But..." Kapok said then continued, "thats not what I wanted to talk about. What I wanted to talk about is how you might the lost Skywing we've been searching for."
I looked down at my serrated talons and clicked them against the ground.
Than I said, "But is it even possible I mean look at me I a three tribe hybrid, not a full Skywing."
"Yes thats true but even if you cant truly be part of the prophecy you would still be a great help considering you developed the the Nightwing powers which so far the Nightwing dragonet hasn't." Kapok said.
"Wait what that doesn't make sense though he was born on the brightest night his powers should be just as strong as mine our powers come from the full moons." I said the surprise evident in my voice.
"Well it makes sense than Starflight and the rest of the dragonets were born under a mountain." Kapok said.
I sighed than said, "than it's likely that..."
Starflight will never develop,
powers
