(quick note I wasn't sure how I wanted to write Peril knowing about Kestrel so in my story she's going to find out another way. Also your probably gonna get really confused with this chapter which makes sense I didn't have the first book if the series with me to check things so I had to write this from memory, And it was very rushed. just so you know things are going to be in a different timeline order then the book.)

We had now been here for about 6 days. Scarlet had tried to make Tsunami and Starflight fight but obviously they didn't. Instead Scarlet had them fight scavengers and Icewing's. However when she was about to have them fight the first Icewing the sun got blocked out by black and purple wings.

Morrowseer had flown down and talked to Queen Scarlet. He sent his dragons with a flick of his tail and they killed every last Icewing prisoner.

One of them had gotten dangerously close to me but seemed to back off once they saw that I was the dragonet that sometimes accompanied my mother to meetings with the Nightwing's.

They then proceeded to take only Starflight and leave the rest of us for dead.

Scarlet was not happy she set up a battle for Clay where he had to fight Peril.

My best guess was because Clay had fireproof scales. Once the day of the fight came the stands were packed and Burn was still there.

I was still not about to let Clay fight Peril though. I had been clawing at the stupid band around my snout for the past five minutes.

It was made of some weird bendy stuff. I could probably pull it off if it weren't for the fact that it wrapped around my horns to.

I picked at the loops around my horns before I realized that I had been being a complete idiot.

I sighed and said under my breath, "I enchant this band that is around my face and horns to unwrap itself and then warp itself to look like I had clawed and pulled it off."

Three moons that was a mouthful.

As I felt the band move I extended my huge clamped wings. I put them around my head and stared at the ground as the band undid itself.

Finally after what felt like forever the band was done and laying on the ground below me. Twisted and claw marked.

I stretched my jaw a bit and cooled down my body. I felt the satisfying chill sweep through my body after about a minute my body felt like I was full of ice.

Still sheltered by my cold clamped wings I started to charge up my frost breath. When I felt it was ready I breathed a small amount of it onto the metal clamps around my wings.

The frost fell off my wings since they were still just as cold as the frost itself. But it quickly covered the clamps.

Here comes the part that sucks. I took a large calming breath and started to heat up my body which was much quicker.

I winced as my wings warmed up and I felt them start to get frostbitten from the clamps around them. I quickly breathed a very hot plume of fire at the clamps.

I watched as the metal didn't know how to react to the change in temperature and started to crack apart.

Clay was now in the arena below Peril looking at him sadly. I was not letting them fight. As the clamps broke apart I felt the frostbite on my wings stab painfully.

Once the clamps had fully fallen off I instantly chilled my body feeling the frostbite on my wings slow in it's spread. After about 10 seconds the spread stopped fully and actually started to disappear which surprised me.

Note to self add an enchantment that makes my scales immune to my own attacks no matter their temperature.

I looked around my wings were still folded as to not attract attention.

They're about to fight. I wonder if theirs anything else I can do to boost my powers with my magic.

As I thought about it I got an idea.

I opened my pouch and pulled out the ruby which had been the first ever thing I enchanted.

Quickly and quietly as I could I said,
"I enchant this ruby to boost my abilities as long as it is within a wingspan from my scales."

That should do it.

I then placed the ruby back in the pouch around my chest and pulled the strings tight. I tied them together to for extra measure. I spun back around and faced the arena my wings folded close to my side.

I opened my Mind reading fully and noticed that it's range had increased. Probably from the ruby.

I could now hear Glory's thoughts. She looked calm and lazy on the outside shifting colors slowly while laying on the decorative tree branch. However she had been going over a detailed plan in her head.

She was going to use her venom on the Queen and Burn. Then she was also hoping that her venom worked on the clamps around everyone's wings.

Hopefully her venom kills Scarlet and Burn but it won't work on the clamps because it can only melt living things like animals, plants, and dragons.

Oh well at least her plan for the Queen and Burn should work. I kept listening to Glory's thoughts so I would know when to act.

While Glory was waiting for an opening I shot Frost and Fire at the wires which, luckily broke much quicker then the clamps.

Just as Glory was giving up hope on an opening I got an idea to help her. I flung my wings out to their full length, stood on my hind legs, and roared at the top of my lungs.

Thankfully as I hoped and expected both Scarlet and Burn as well as most of the watching Skywings whipped they're heads in my direction.

Glory's thoughts were confused for a moment but she took the chance. She shot upwards swiftly breaking the thin chain around her neck. She then got ready to shoot her venom at Burn first.

Annoyingly Burn had good reflexes and instantly got on the defensive.

She pulled a both angry and surprised Scarlet Infront of her and Scarlet had no time to react. The venom hit her square in the right eye.

A panic rose fairly quickly and dragons were rising into the air terrified. I used the distraction to fly quickly over to Tsunami's pillar.

"What is happening?! And how did you get free?!" She yelled when she saw me.

"There's not really any time to explain so I need you to trust me. Can you do that?" I asked her looking her dead in the eyes.

Tsunami looked worried for a moment but she eventually sighed and sat down looking at me.

"I'll take that as a yes." I said happily.

I pulled the wires connected to Tsunami all into one large talon full.
I aimed carefully then shot Frost at them all. Quickly I changed my grip on the wires so I wouldn't touch the frost and heated up my body as quick as I could.

As soon as I was warm enough I shot fire at the wires. They quickly snapped apart and shattered.

"What about my wings?" Tsunami asked hurriedly.

"There's no time and it's to dangerous I'll carry you." I replied.

Tsunami nodded. I griped her around her stomach and lifted off the pillar. Taking a second to adjust to the weight I started to fly towards the arena.

Once I landed I sprayed sand everywhere and onto Clay and Peril.

"Sorry!" I yelped while carefully setting down Tsunami.

"Permafrost!" Peril yelled happily.

I shot a grin to Peril said hi then got to the point.

"Peril can you burn these Clamps on Tsunami and Clays wings? I could use my Frost and Fire but it's to dangerous and I risk hurting them." I asked then explained.

"Erm yes I can but The queen won't be happy." Peril said twisted her claws nervously.

I sighed deeply a bit of smoke coming out of my snout and curling around my horns.

"Peril." I said seriously looking dead at her.

"Hm?" She hummed nervously looking at me.

"You know Scarlet has been lying to you right?" I asked.

Peril continued to curl and twist her talons in worry.

"I... suspected it but... I wasn't sure." She answered.

"Will you help us?" I pleaded.

Peril sighed deeply a huge cloud of smoke following it and curling around her whole head.

"Anyone with clamps on your wings spread them out." Peril said unhappily.
