The Day Before the Dance
David Bowie's POV
So, I got up for school today, put on a fun outfit, slapped on a little eyeliner, munched down a banana and headed out the door. Today was the big day I finally ask someone to the dance! I had been so busy organizing the dang thing I had completely forgot to ask someone to it!
I had a lot of options, Lou is available, Mick is available, and if both say no, I guess I could ask that whore Angie to the dance.
I head by my locker, with unfortunately some idiots glitter bombed. Everything was completely covered in glitter! What the heck! I turn around and see that idiot Robert Plant cackling like the little spoiled prince he is, until John Bonham comes over and says, "Robert, please be nice to David!"
Robert ignores John and goes to class, and I give John a very grateful smile. I get my sketchbook for art class, and run along to it. On the way I pass by so many classrooms, and I can hear proposals going on everywhere. I guess I'm not the only one that held off too long...
I plunk myself down in art class, and Mr. Holly smiles at me, as I am one of the few students that treat him with total respect, unlike that Daltrey guy. "Hey Lou," I say to my buddy.
"Hey David, what's up?" he says smiling.
Today's my day!
"Nothing much, I was just curious if you would want to go to the dance with me?" I cross my fingers below my desk, praying he'll say yes.
"Dang, this is really awkward, man, but I seriously just told Moe Tucker I'd go with her!" Lou actually looks a little disappointed.
"It's fine, man. I have other options besides you, anyways," we both laugh, and start working on our art projects. I can't hide the fact that I would like to go to the dance with him, and I am a little hurt, but I guess it's all fine.
Brian Eno is sitting next to me, intently working on a painting, "Brian, would you like to-,"
"No way, man!" he scoffs. That's right, he's not actually bisexual. At this point though I just want someone to go with, even if that meant just taking a friend.
Kate Bush is working on a sketch, and I ask her, "Kate, would you like to?"
"Sorry, no darling. I'm going with Peter Gabriel," she looks just as disappointed as Lou did.
Freddie says, "I'd go with you darling, except I'll be taking my girlfriend Mary with me! I'd love to see you and Mick go together though! He's single as single can be."
I smile a little, and Lou flashes a pleased look at me. I continue my project, and go over how I will ask Mick over and over again in my head.
Finally, it's the end of class, and I head to the next class, which is economics. Me and Mick have that together. Actually, Mick sits right next to me, which is absolutely perfect. Mr. Phillips calls the roll, and finally he is finished. He starts writing on the board. Now is my shot! "Mick?" I ask. "I have something important to ask you."
"Actually, so do I! You go first, though," Mick leans back in his chair, and I smile in anticipation.
"Would you like to go to the school dance with me?" I finally spit out.
Mick clasps his hands to his mouth and says, "I would love to!" We both smile, and a bunch of the other students give happy looks for us.
Yes, I am finally ready for this dance to happen!
