Mother Knows Best
A/N: The Hope of Morning...
-Flashback-
Mikoto: Daddy!
Tohru: Yeah son?
Three year old Mikoto came out of his room with a snowman plushie.
Mikoto: Where's Mommy. I want to play with her!
Tohru:....Oh...Um...Sorry kiddo...Mommy went to go to work today...
Mikoto made a sad face.
Mikoto: Again? But she promised me she would play with me today! She said it was her day off!
Tohru: Well... something came up and she had to go...Sorry Snowflake...
Mikoto dropped the plushie and went back upstairs, crying.
Mommy is always away...
Because she chooses work over him...
Being a hero sucks sometimes.
-End Flashback-
Fumiko was marvelled at the dormitory her son was living in. It seemed like something only the wealthy mansion could afford to live in. How the teachers had managed to do this in such a short amount of time she didn't know?
As soon as they reached the dorms, someone was already there to greet them.
???: The Yuki-Onna!!! Can I have your autograph?!!
Fumiko looked to see Luna with a pen and paper asking for an autograph but was soon held back by Zoe.
Zoe: Nope. We got some gardening to do.
Luna: B-But! Her Autograph!!!
Zoe: You promised me. You can get an autograph later.
Luna: (;____;)
Mikoto and his mom watched the two girls walked away.
Fumiko: You sure got some strange classmates...
Mikoto: Yes...They are absolute chaos when you meet the rest...
Hein then came from the kitchen and caught an glimpse of Mikoto as she walked over to him.
Hein: Yukimura-kun! Present Mic just announced that we'll be starting class again tomorrow and-?!
She then noticed Fumiko right behind him...
Hein: Ello, You must the Yuki-Onna...Nice to meet you. I'm Hein Viamel, the Vice Representative of Class 1-C.
She greeted the woman politely as she pulled out her hand for Fumiko to shake which she glady shook her hand.
Fumiko: Ah. Nice to meet you Viamel-san. I heard so much from your family.
Hein: R-Really?
Fumiko: Indeed. I had once associated with your father. Strange Man. Pretty much resolved his life around business. That's seems to be the only things he talked about.
Hein sighed to herself.
Hein: Sadly. That is true.
Fumiko: Ah...I'm sorry...Did I said something personal.
Despite the blunt attitude, Hein knew Fumiko-san didn't really mean it. So she shook her to reassure the hero.
Hein: No no no! You just hit the right button though. My family is all about business. We are closely identified through leadership or ownership. Although Owner-manager entrepreneurial firms are not considered to be family businesses because they lack the multi-generational dimension and family influence that create the unique dynamics and relationships of family businesses.
Fumiko: Ah...I see...
So Hein's family taught her everything she needs to know about life...besides affection and love...
Mikoto: Whoa...(Poor Hein...She did mentioned that her family hardly considered each other as..."family"...at least she has Lilac.)
Hein: Anyway. With all that aside, please make yourself, Mrs. Yukimura.
Fumiko: Mrs???
Hein: Ah! I'm terribly sorry...I forget I don't speak the same language as most of you guys do.
Mikoto: (Is it because she's british...?)
Hein: But like I said before... Yukimura-san or Yuki-Onna...Which one do you prefer to be called, Ma'am?
Fumiko: You can call me Fumiko if you like.
Hein: Okay. Miss Fumiko...would you like some tea and crumpets?
Fumiko: I had tea before...but I don't know what crumpets are...
Then she put on a small smile.
Fumiko: But that would be nice. I would like some, please.
Hein nodded.
Hein: Coming right up.
The girl quickly went to the kitchen as Mother and Son made their way to the living room.
The only thing Fumiko liked about the living room was how spacious it was.
Fumiko: Nice detail.
Mikoto: IKR. U.A sure has been working their butt off to make sure the dormitory was finished.
Fumiko: In such an short amount of time too.
Mother and son then sat down on the couches as Mikoto told Fumiko about his adventures at U.A.
Mikoto: It's really great to be here!
Fumiko: Have everyone in your class been treating you fairly?
Mikoto: Of course Mom. Plus, everyone in the class is awesome.
Fumiko: Really?
Mikoto: Yep. Sylvia is so cool! Jack is really loud but hilarious. Luna is really sweet. Haru and Akira are really shy. Kenji, Souta, and Kelly are mysterious. Oka is....really scary...and the list goes on...
Fumiko listens to everything that Mikoto explains some detail about his classmates.
Mikoto: Mio-chan is such an amazing painter. Oh, then there's Lilac! Yeah Lilac! She can heal everyone with that quirk! Think about it. Broken bones, bleeding, bruises. She's so amazing!
Fumiko: I see...I'm glad you been getting along with your classmates. It seems like everyone here in Class 1-C dorms are good kids.
Mikoto: Yep!
Fumiko: Also...about the phone call...
Mikoto: (Oh...that...)
Fumiko: What is it that you wanted to tell me...?
Mikoto decided to get it off his chest. It's been bugging him for a while after what happened with Yin. So maybe his mother can help him clear hid head with this...
Mikoto: Mom, in all your hero career, have you ever anyone, that you knew for so long, betrayed you?
Fumiko:....
Fumiko stayed quiet for a moment before responding.
Fumiko: Yes.
Mikoto:...!
Fumiko: Believe it or not. There were some people I used to work with back then in my younger years betrayed me...Some had reasons why...others did not...
Mikoto:...
Fumiko: Why bring this up...?
Mikoto: W-Well... Let's just say...One of my classmates turned out to be a traitor...
Fumiko:.....Go on...
Mikoto: After finding out, I'm kind of having problems trusting him. I mean...at first, I was disappointed when I found out. I couldn't help but think...why? I thought we were friends. But once I learned their side of the story. He was forced. Forced into a situation where he couldn't get help because if he told anybody...the person he cared about that's being held hostage would die.
Fumiko:...
Mikoto: I...just find it hard to believe...I want to trust him...but what if he's lying...after all...
"He wasn't the first person to lie to me about being my friend..."
Fumiko:......
Mikoto:....
Fumiko: Mikoto...
Mikoto looks at his mother.
Fumiko: Maybe you should follow your heart.
Mikoto: Follow my heart?
Fumiko: You say you don't know whether or not you should trust the person who hurt you. But hearing his side of the story. He was hurt was well and it seemed like he had no choice but to cooperate with the villains. I seen many hostage situations before like this...Even citizens being forced to work for villains and corrupted heroes if their families or friends lives are at stake.
Mikoto: Yeah...
Fumiko: So...I'm saying is...If you want to trust him. Then follow your heart.
Hold on to your truth.
Your faith.
Your peace.
Your You.
Fumiko: Your friends care about you just as they do. But they also have secrets, Mikoto. Sometimes it's best these secrets never come to light. Imagine the driven purposes if those secrets are exposed.
Mikoto: Okay...
Fumiko: So remember...Follow your heart and you go to the right place...I know you can do it. Because you helped inspired your classmates...just like you inspired me...
Mikoto:...?!
Fumiko: ....I may have not been supportive mother of you in the past. I have pushed my work and my problems before you...buut I never did stop thinking about you. When I learn you wanted to be your own hero. I was terrified. I wanted to keep you home. Safe with your father. But I never thought about what you felt during all that. I even didn't noticed how the other kids treated you while you were growing up...so for that...I'm sorry...
Mikoto: Mom...
Before Mikoto could say anything to reassure her. Fumiko pull up her hand for him to let her finish.
Fumiko: But...for now on, no matter what occurs between you and the battles you face. Just know...that me and your father will always be cheering you on. Because you are our precious Snowflake...so for now on. If you need anything...I, as a mother, will do my absolute hardest to be there for you.
Mikoto: *Smiles* Thanks Mom...
-Later-
After Fumiko and Mikoto's talk. Hein came back with some tea and crumpets. The three then had a small chat together. Mikoto was glad he actually had this talked with his mother.
Despite knowing a lot about being a hero...
There was so many things for him to learn.
As soon as Fumiko realized visiting hours were over. She hugged her son and bid him goodbye. Promising she'll visit him next month with his father.
Mikoto: (She's right though...)
He looked up at the moon light sky.
A new determination filling his veins erasing away his doubt.
All of his classmates have secrets just like he does...
Lilac hid her secrets. The girl was abused by her parents for the past ten years for having a quirk they never want her to have.
Haru, Akira, Mio, and so many others were bullied.
Souta was treated like the Plague by his family, excluding his older brother Shun. All because of his quirk.
Kenji was an experiment for sick purposes.
Sylvia was abused, tortured, and kidnapped multiple times which led to her having a hard time to trust people.
Yin was the traitor who was forced to give information to the villains. His mother was abused and killed by his villainous father who wanted to break the boy to his will. He thought suicide was his only way out...
And the list goes on...
All of them had problems...
Now that Mikoto noticed, Class 1-C was a barrel full of dark secrets.
If not just Yin...who else could be in pain right now?
All the pain they can't explain to each other...
It will never fade...
Bullying.
Torment.
Torture.
Self-Harm.
Self-Disgust.
Low Self-esteem.
Hatred.
The choices they make...staring into the mirror with themselves to blame.
All.
These.
Secrets.
To.
Hide.
Their.
Shame.
Mikoto:.....No matter what...I won't turn my back on this. All of us will be heroes one day. We're still worth the fight...in the hope of morning.
-OMAKE-
Mikoto introduced his mother to his class.
Jack: I can't believe you're the Yuki-Onna in person.
Souta: Yeah...I was expected you to be cold-hearted.
Hein: Do be quiet you two.
Luna: Yukimura-san! You're so pretty. What's your secret.
Destiny: Yeah tell us!
For a woman in her late thirties, she looks like she hasn't age a day over twenty.
Fumiko: It's nothing much. The cold keeps my skin more softer.
Sylvia: What was Mikoto-kun like when he was a child.
Fumiko:....I got some baby pictures. Would you all like to check it out?
Class 1-C: YES!
Mikoto: *Embarrassed* NOOOOO!!!
