The Best of the Best

Here it is, the final chapter of the third season of My Hero Academia. If you've made it this far, I'd just like to say, thank you so much. It means more than anything to know that someone enjoys my story. I hope you enjoyed the perspective of my own OC and class 1-B too. And lastly, after this chapter is completed, i'll be moving on to what I decided on. I'll be continuing on to the next arcs of My Hero Academia, so this is your only warning if you don't want to be spoiled. Again, i'll try my best to interpret the story form Cry's POV, it'll just be a bit harder without an anime to go off of. Thank you very much if you've made it to this point, and as always, enjoy!

We all made our way into gym gamma, it was looking much better now, especially since me and Kendo nearly broke it apart when we sparred a few weeks ago. We all stood in group on one side while the blonde haired boy stood on the other end. The other two members of the big 3 were also here but they were just observing. Or, at least one of them was, Amajiki was facing a wall, his shyness was just too much for him to face us. Hado was walking in circles around us though, looking as curious as ever. The blonde haired boy began to speak to all of us, "Oh, that's right, I forgot to tell you all my name! I'm Mirio Togata. It's a pleasure to meet you all!" He said while bowing his upper body. "Are you sure you want all of us to fight you at once? We may not have had villain experience like class A but we're no slouches either. We even proved we're all a step ahead when we all got our provisional licenses." Monoma asked Mirio. Mirio only smiled and replied to him. "You're gonna have to show me how good you all are. I'll even let you have the first move buddy!" He said to Monoma. Mr. Kan talked from the sidelines, "View this as a learning experience, it's an excellent opportunity for you all."

We all took that as the start of our fight. Monoma indeed took the first move and simply walked over to Mirio. "Are you sure you want me to make the first move? Don't you know what my quirk is?" Monoma asked him. "Yep, I sure do know what it is, but i'll be fine!" Mirio said in return. Monoma then reached to touch Mirio but his hand went right through him. "What's going on!? Why can't I touch you!?" Monoma asked him. Mirio then readied his fist to strike Monoma, and before he made contact he said to Monoma, "Never let your guard down, always be prepared for anything!" and he slammed his fist into Monoma's chest, knocking him out with a single punch. Mirio then looked to the rest of us, glaring and smiling as he called out "So which one of you is next?"

Everyone who had a close combat style quirk then rushed Mirio, myself included as we all attempted to beat him. Mirio ran at us too but when he was about 20 feet from us, he suddenly fell through the floor. All that was left was his training uniform. We knew there wasn't a basement, so how could he have slipped underground? Before any of us could question what just happened, Mirio appeared behind all of us, only he was completely naked. He emerged behind Tsunotori and Shiozaki, again hitting them in the chest and knocking the two of them out. Mirio them slipped into the ground again. "How's he doing this!? Is it some kind of warp quirk!?" Tetsutetsu asked as Mirio appeared next to Yanagi and Tsuburaba. Every student he would appear by would try to hit him but they would have their attacks simply go right through him. Mirio continued this until he had knocked out all of the ranged attackers in our class. 12 of us remained, but I had a feeling that wouldn't last long. I was trying to figure out his quirk, and then, a thought came into my head about what it could actually be. "I think i've figured it out everyone! He's got some sort of advanced intangibility quirk. That's how our attacks are going right through him and how he's going in and out of the ground!" I said as everyone nodded in agreement. Mirio only smiled as he replied "You're awfully close, but you're still not right!" He said as he charged Tetsutetsu. Him and Shishida prepared to meet his attack but when they went to hit Mirio, their fists only went through him. Mirio then took the back of their heads and shoved them hard into the ground. This knocked them both out, surprising me because Tetsutetsu was made of iron. It would take a lot to knock him out. As I was thinking this though, Mirio was challenging a group of six. He did the same to them as he did with Tetsutetsu and Shishida. They were all out cold and now, only four of us were left. All that were left was myself, Kendo, Kaibara, and Kodai, we needed a plan and fast.

Kaibara used his gyrate quirk to move underground and try to combat Mirio when he would go under. He submerged himself and Mirio soon followed. The three of us couldn't hear much but eventually, Kaibara was thrown out of the hole, knocked out from fighting Mirio. This was a nightmare for us, we were giving it our all, and Mirio hadn't even received a scratch from us. Kodai was next to attack him. She grew herself to about 20 feet tall and went to step on Mirio. Her foot only went through his body though. Mirio then jumped into the air, meeting Koodai at eye level. He then readied his fist and spoke to Kodai. "As they say, the bigger they are, the harder they fall!" He said as he rammed his fist into Kodai's right cheek. She fell over onto her back and was out cold. Only me and Kendo were left. "So you two are the ones I've heard so much about. And you're the one who won this years, first year sports festival." Mirio said as he pointed to us. "What kind of quirk do you have?" Kendo asked as Mirio only grinned. "You're about to find out!" He said as he charged us. He quickly slipped into the ground again. I took this chance to grow my wings and take off into the air, I figured he was going after me. Kendo enlarged her hands and placed them flat on the ground in front of her. I guess she figured it could stop Mirio when he would come up out of the ground. When he did come up though, he came right through Kendo's hands and struck her in the chest. He sent her into a nearby wall and she laid there, not moving. It was just me and Mirio now. "You were also one of the students taken by the villains right? You must be strong to have made it out of that!" He said to me as I thanked him. "I can't reach you when you're that high in the air. Do you mind coming down?" He asked me. "It wouldn't amount to anything if I just stayed here. I can't use any of my ranged attacks yet, and we can't reach each other. So I guess I have no choice but to come back down." I said as I descended and landed on the gym floor.

Mirio took the chance as I was landing to slip into the ground. I stood there ready for him to hit me from anywhere. My only plan was to hit him the moment he popped back up from the ground. I focused my single point force to my left fist and waited for him to emerge. it didn't take long though as he yelled out "And you guys lose!" as he appeared behind me. I swung me left arm backwards, attempting to hit him. My arm went right through him though and he called out his ultimate move. "Blinder touch eyeball thrust!" He called out as he went to poke my eye. I shut them but realized his  hand would just go right through me. I quickly opened my eyes back up and saw him preparing to hit me from below. I moved my single point force to my right hand and I went to intercept him. I reached down and caught his fist. That didn't last long though as my hand soon went through his arm. He activated his quirk on his whole arm so I couldn't touch it anymore. He then continued his attack and thrusted his arm straight up to me. He landed his right fist into my jaw and he sent me flying backwards. I landed on my back, dazed from his attack. I knew I was beaten.

Mirio then yelled out "PPPOOOOWWWEEEERRRRR!" and Mr. Kan ended the fight. "Sorry if I scarred some of you with me not wearing any clothes. But anyway, that's a taste of what it's like to fight me. What do you guys think?" Mirio asked us as we all had our heads down in shame. "We couldn't even touch you. And you beat us all with a single punch. The only person who did manage to touch you only did it for a second. Just what the hell is your quirk?" Awase asked him. Hado stepped in to say what his quirk was. "OOOO, let me say it Mirio, it's Permeation! Cool right!?" She explained to us. Mirio then took over and explained how his quirk worked. "How it works is I activate my quirk n my entire body, then I can pass through anything that I want no sweat! Everything, including solid ground as you all saw. When I would go to release my quirk while I was falling in the ground, something super strange would happen. Apparently things with mass can't overlap, that's called physics. So I just get repelled upward. Think of it this way, the ground spits me out and I fly into the air! By adjusting the direction i'm facing or the pose i'm holding, I can change the angle I come out at so I can aim at different spots!" He explained to us as some people grew curious. "You were able to avoid our attacks and move to anywhere you wanted. That's one powerful quirk." Tokage said. Mirio's smile went away though as he continued to explain. "That's not true. My power's only strong because I made it that way. While my quirk is activated, my lungs can't take in oxygen. Even if I breath in, air will just pass through my body. In the same way, my ear drums don't work, and light can't go through me retinas. I can pass through everything, but that means I can't feel anything while i'm in that state. Even though I have a body, I just can't stop falling. I could probably keep going down forever. Does that make sense to all of you? That's why if I wanna go through something like say a wall, I have to concentrate really hard. I'll activate everything except one leg, then I release the other leg and land on it. And then the first leg is the last one to go through. Even for a simple action like that, there's a lot of steps. Growing up, I was always behind, as you might expect because my quirk is so difficult to use. In no time I dropped to dead last, I dropped my pants a lot too. In order to get to the top with this quirk, I couldn't just hope that things would get better, I had to think. I learned to make combat decisions, and picked up a few new tricks. But above all, I learned to predict what would happen next. And what made those predictions possible in the first place was experience. I'd based my predictions on what i'd learned, this was kind of a roundabout way to get my point across but that's why I wanted to fight, to show you through experience rather than words. In our works studies, we're not treated as guests like in our internships. We're regarded as one of the sidekicks, or even as a pro sometimes. It can be super scary, pros can get hurt and sometimes they end up watching people die. But every scary and painful thing you go through is an important experience that you can't get inside a classroom. Even at UA, I transformed the experience I got at my work study and turned it into power. That's how I got to the top spot! And, it's why I think they're worth it, even if you're scared! Are you with me first years!?" He explained to us as we all began to clap. We had no idea the amount of hard work and determination he put into mastering his quirk. Someone who was the lowest of the low, just like All Might before he received One for All. He was at the bottom and Mirio took his own strength from the experience he gained and soared to the top of UA. He taught us so much by fighting us, he didn't need words to explain. Now that we had our licenses, we would be treated as pros, and even though it would be scary, Mirio showed that good can still come from it.

Before we continue to talk with Mirio and the rest of the big 3, Mr. Kan interrupted. "Let's get back to class now. Say thank you and change back into your school uniforms." We all said our goodbyes and headed back to our homeroom class. "I hope you all learned a lot from that sparring match. It's important to keep in mind everything that goes into mastering your quirks and everything that a hero must go through. Keep in mind all of this when deciding on your hero work studies. That is all for today, class is dismissed!" Mr. Kan explained before exiting the class. I had already planned what I wanted to do for my work study. It was something that I was looking forward to. But thinking back to what Mirio had said, how he made his quirk powerful. I wondered if I could do the same since I don't have full control over all of my powers yet too. And even if I did master them, more could appear from me, so i'm never finished. Mirio's words inspired me today, to not only face the fear of being an actual hero, but also how there's more than just what people see. Others may think i'm at the top of my class, but as far as their concerned, I was at the bottom. And now, just like Mirio, I was going to rise to the top!
