Playing Along

The last chapter was something I had been thinking of for a long while now. It always intrigued me how the league of villains found and took Camie's blood, so that was my best guess as to how things went down. Now we get back into the PLE arc, only this time it's from class 1-A's side of things. If you've read the manga or are up to date with the anime, you should already know how things go down. I'll try my best to integrate Cry(or should I say, Arsenal) into the story. I've got some things planned though, so hopefully you enjoy them. The real fun is when we get to the starting point of the work study arc. Enjoy!

-Time Skip: 1 Day-

"So to be clear, i'm not allowed to kill anyone? You only want me to collect drops of blood from them? And i'm only allowed to use one quirk?" I asked Shigaraki as he nodded. "Yes. Get your hero costume ready. We've supplied you with a school uniform as well. Your alias is that you're an american student looking to get a provisional hero license early. You'll go by the name "Jack Steelman." Am I clear?" He asked me as I nodded in agreement. "Toga is already in position, disguised as our little friend over at Shiketsu High. She and the other examinees are headed to their destination now." Shigaraki explained as I looked over to Camie. She was paced in my room, her hands and feet tied to a chair so she couldn't escape. We drugged her everyday so she'd fall asleep and not remember anything. "Do you mind telling me why we can't just kill her when we're done here? I don't see why it's so important to keep her alive." I said as Shigaraki began to head to the exit. "She's to be kept alive because she's useful. Toga can't change into a person if they're dead, so that's why we're keeping her alive. And her body may come in handy in the future" He explained as I began to sigh. "Ok, but could you have at least put her in a different room? I'm having trouble sleeping because of her." I said. "We all have to make sacrifices, so stop wining and get ready. You're heading out to the exam area." Shgaraki said as he exited the room.

-Time Skip: 1 Hour-

"We're here. You got everything ready?" Dabi asked me as I was putting on my school uniform. "Yeah, I guess so. Still can't believe I have to wear this trash." I said as Dabi hit me in the head. "Quit wining. Just focus on your job and don't screw up. Otherwise, I get to have fun with you." He said which made me a little worried. "I haven't failed yet, and I don't plan to start now. So i'm afraid you're gonna be disappointed when this is all over." I said as he rolled his eyes. "Whatever. Now get out of here. Find Toga. Stick with her for your exams." Dabi said as I started to change my face. I morphed it into a person who was in a movie I saw a few months ago. "Well that's better than the gloomy face from the other day." Dabi said with a chuckle as I exited our van. We were parked a few blocks away from the exam area, just far enough so that we wouldn't be noticed by anyone. It was a bit of a walk but nothing that would bother me much. I could see buses gathered up ahead, each carrying dozens of students. "This'll be a blast." I said sarcastically as I made my way to the exam building.

When I arrived, I was met by hundreds, maybe thousands of students, each from different schools. "Let's see... Camie's school uniform was black and she wore a cap with an "S" on it. I guess that's what I should be looking for." I thought to myself as I started to walk around. While looking around though, I bumped into a boy who had ash coloured hair. He quickly turned around and said "Watch where you're going asshole. I'll kill you if you get in my way." I wanted to strike him in the chest for saying that, but he was with two other people. They were both boys as well. One had spiky red hair and some sharp looking teeth. The other had yellow hair with some black streaks in it. "Maybe you're the one who needs to look where he's going. Stay out of my way or i'll crush you." I said as the boy freaked out at me. "What did you say!? You wanna die, punk!?" He yelled but his two friends held him back. "Calm down, Bakugou! Save it for when you're in the exam!" The spiky haired boy said. "I'll keep you in mind if i'm looking for someone to destroy during this thing." I said which made Bakugou even more furious. Another boy stepped in to hold Bakugou back, but this new person, I had seen him before. It was the boy from the photo Shigaraki showed me yesterday. He was our main target. "Don't back up this guy kid. He's all bark and no bite." I said to the green haired boy as he turned to face me. "I don't know who you are, but you should leave. There's no reason to start something here." He said as I shrugged it off and walked away.

I bumped into more kids right after though, and I assume they were from the same school as the last ones because they were all wearing the same uniform. Some were talking with students who were from a different school, one that I recognized. The students from this other school were wearing caps that had the same "S" that Shketsu High had. I walked over to them and I saw a familiar face. Standing off to the side was Camie, or should I say Toga in disguise. I stepped over and walked into their conversation. "You know it's rude to just interrupt a conversation with your presence." One of the Shiketsu students said to me. "Sorry. I figured talking to this bunch was better than talking to the hot head over there." I said as I pointed to Bakugou. "Don't mind him. He's just full of pride. I apologize for any way he's treated you." A boy with blue hair and glasses said to me. "Thanks, I guess. Anyone here have any idea as to what they'll be making us do in there?" I asked the students but they all shook their heads. "Well that doesn't help. My best guess, since there's so many people here, is that they'll try and eliminate most of the competitors here right away. That way, the only ones that are left are the ones who are most worthy of being heroes." I explained as some others nodded in agreement. "That's a pretty good theory, if you ask me." Toga said which made me smile. The blue haired boy then grew curious and said "I don't recognize the uniform you're wearing. What school are you from?" "My name is Jack Steelman. I'm from America, and i'm attending a hero course there. I'm here to try and get my provisional license early." I explained. The boy reached out his hand to shake mine and said "Well it's nice to meet you. I hear the hero courses overseas are just as tough as the ones here. You must be impressive if you were granted permission to participate in this exam." I shook his hand and said "You could say that." I then looked around to everyone and said "So seeing as my theory is the best we've got, and possibly knowing that there will be a limit to how many examinees move on, I say we form an alliance. Anyone agree?" I asked but almost no one gave an answer. The only one to say anything was Toga. "Why not. I'll be your partner, fam. It'll be fun." She said as she walked over to my side. The students from Shiketsu looked surprised that she did this but they shrugged it off pretty quickly. "Enough chit-chat. We should head inside. I'm sure this exam will begin shortly." One of the Shiketsu students said as we all went our separate ways. Toga stayed by my side though. "It didn't take much for me to figure out it was you, Cry." She said to me as I let out a faint chuckle. "And why is that?" I asked. "Because you're smarter than all of these crappy heroes. You were always one to make an alliance, so that gave you away to me." She explained as we walked inside of the exam building. "Just stay focused on the mission. It's already killing me to be here, so close to wannabe heroes." I said as we began to separate, heading to our changing rooms. "I'll see you inside." Toga said as she went out of sight.

-Time Skip: 30 Minutes-

After what seemed like forever listening to a commissioner explain the exam, we were given some balls and targets that we would place on our bodies. I placed mine in a triangle formation on my chest so i'd be able to see anything that would try and hit my targets. I had to make sure I didn't get eliminated, otherwise it'd just make the job harder for Toga. All the examinees were placed into a crowded room. But soon enough, the walls collapsed and we entered a large stadium, filled with different environments for people to fight in. City, waterfall, cliffside, forest, it was all here. "Everyone has 5 minutes to spread out. After that, the first exam will begin. Only the first 100 combatants will move on, so be quick and efficient." The commissioner said. "Great. So we won't have a lot of time to collect blood." I thought to myself as a buzzer sounded off. Everyone separated, heading towards whatever environment they would do best in. I stayed close to Toga who took off without any warning. She seemed to be going over to the valley environment. No matter where we went, I felt like I was comfortable to fight. "Keep an eye out for Izuku!" She said to me as we were running. "I'm guessing that's our target?" I asked as she nodded her head. I don't know why, but I felt like I knew that name from somewhere. I tried forgetting about it though, and tried to focus on our objective. Within no time, another buzzer went off, signalling the start of the exam. Me and Toga found a fortified position, surrounded by a few rock faces. 'We'll hold up here for now. Try and spot Izuku if you can. When we get some of his blood, we'll move on to some of the other students." Toga explained as I began to peer over some of the rocks.

While I was searching, I started to hear a bubbling sound behind me. I turned and saw Toga changing into another person. Within seconds, she was now a girl who had long brown hair, and was wearing a pink and black hero outfit.

"Why'd you change into this person?" I asked as Toga started to laugh. "I know for a fact that this girl that I've taken the form of is Izuku's friend. I'll try and stand out when we spot him and lure him in. Then we'll strike!" She explained as I turned back around to look for our target. We seemed to have good luck today as I saw him standing in a group of around 20 students. "Those must be the other students we're supposed to get samples from." I thought as they all started to separate. Izuku ran from a few other combatants and was slowly making his way towards us. "Toga, he's coming. Get his attention." I said as she jumped up onto a rock face. "Hey! Izuku! Over here!" She said in this girls voice. I saw Izuku look over and start to run to us. "Perfect. This is going to be easier than I thought." I thought to myself as Toga jumped back down. "Get ready. And remember, don't kill him." She said to me but I responded and said "Look who's talking, ms. I love murder."

Izuku made his way over and jumped over a boulder, landing near Toga. He stood by her side and saw me standing a few feet away. "Uraraka! Look out!" He said as he stepped in front of her, preparing to fight. "You're out of your league kid. Just give up now." I said as I took a battle position as well. "In case you haven't noticed, it's two against one." Izuku said with a fierce expression on his face. However, it soon changed to a shocked face as he started to turn around to Toga and say "Let me guess, you're someone from Shiketsu? Uraraka would've used her quirk to help me out while I made it over here. And, she's smart enough to know that it's a bad idea to giver away her position like you did." "Well I guess it's no use staying like this then." Toga said as she started to change bodies again. She quickly took the form of Camie again, only this time, she wasn't wearing the hero outfit Camie would normally wear. She was wearing a skin tight, white body suit which was a little too revealing. "Jeez, couldn't she have changed clothes too?" I thought to myself as I leaped at Izuku and grabbed his arms. "Get him! Now!" I said as Toga took this opening to strike. She swung her finger nails at Izuku's face, leaving only a small scratch on him. Izuku started to make his body glow with a greenish colour and he soon went to kick Toga. She backed off and then he headbutted me with the back of his head. I let go of him and took a step back. My nose was starting to bleed but I didn't have time to worry about it. Izuku went after Toga again, moving in close and beginning to swing his right leg at her. Toga took another step backwards and continued into a backflip where she landed on top of a boulder. "Care to deal with him, Jack? It's no fun if my prey fights back." She said to me as I nodded. I began to walk over to Izuku and he turned to face me. I prepared for an attack by generating 100,000 psi into my arms. Izuku, still glowing green, jumped with an incredible speed at me. He did a full frontflip before moving into an axe kick at me. I wasn't fazed though as I reached out and grabbed his foot with my hand before it struck me. I stopped his momentum completely and held him in the air. "You're pretty quick, but i'm way stronger than you!" I said as I began to throw Izuku. I tried to throw him straight down into the ground but before I could let go, something caught my arm that was holding Izuku. I looked up and saw white tape around my forearm. "What the hell is this? Tape?" I said as two people appeared over one of the rock faces. "Need some help Midoriya?" One of the people said who was wearing a white, yellow, and black hero outfit. "Just get these two away from me!" Izuku said as the other person, I believe her name was Uraraka, stepped in to help Izuku out. I gave Izuku a shove that sent him a fair distance into the air, which gave me time to face Uraraka. She reached out to touch me but I sidestepped and she ran right past me. She kept on running forward though and when I looked, I saw her go after Toga. Toga simply jumped over to another boulder though, and Uraraka stopped going after her. "And here things were just getting good. Too bad. I really, really wanted to talk to you. But not with so many people around of course. What a bummer. Oh well, I got what I needed." Toga said while looking at Midoriya. That let me know that she got a sample of his blood. She then turned to face Uraraka and said "Ochako Uraraka. He really trusts you a lot, you know?" Toga then jumped off of the boulder and ran away, the other three all turning to face me. I cracked my knuckles and said "So who's first?"
