Hunted

This will most likely be the final chapter of this filler arc. Mostly because tomorrow, March 1st, there will be a new, official manga chapter being released for MHA. Hopefully, there is enough content from it for me to do another canon chapter. I've seen some spoilers from it and i'm already trying to think of how I can integrate Cry into this part of the story. And also with this new chapter coming out, I can confirm that the joint training arc has officially ended, so now we'll be heading into the next one. Based on the spoilers, there's a lot to look forward to. Anyways, enough about that, you're here to read! Enjoy!

"Jeez, how far does this hill go on for?" I thought to myself as me and Kodai walked along the edge of it, hoping that we would meet up with Kaibara and Kendo. Kodai still didn't have the strength to walk so I was still carrying her. She shined the flashlight for me so I could see where we were going. "Do you think the others are ok?" Kodai asked me. "I hope so. If they run into anything, they're together, so it'll be tougher to take them down. We just have to make sure we're the ones who find them first." I told Kodai as she gave me a nod. "I'm sorry i'm being such a burden. I'm sure it must be tiring to have to carry me around." Kodai said to me as she put her head down. "You're not a burden, Kodai. The fact that you're still alive means that I still have a reason to not give up. I'll lay my life down to protect you or the others if I had to." I told her as she raised her head up. "You would?" She asked me as I gave her a smile and a nod. "You bet. When I got into U.A, I kind of... well... somehow made that my own hero code to live by. And even though it's caused a lot of harm to myself, i'm still here. And even though some of my friends are dead, there are still others out there that I can protect. I've saved a few peoples lives since starting this life, and I don't plan on stopping now." I explained to Kodai. "Now I see why you're so likable. Not to say, I didn't like you before but, it's just that you seem like someone that everyone can get along with. The way you talk, and your actions. You're very heroic, Cry. And... I can see why you wanted to become a hero." Kodai said to me as I gave her my thanks. "To be honest, deciding to try and enter U.A was really a last minute decision. I registered with maybe, only a few weeks before the entrance exam. And if you remember, I was so shy and timid at the start of the semester that I barely talked to anyone. I grew up with people shaming me, saying that it was unfair that I had more than one power. And thanks to all of you, you helped me break out of that shell. I couldn't repay you all enough, so that's why I decided that I would lay down my life for all of you as thanks." I explained to Kodai as she started pinching my right cheek. "You're so cute sometimes." She said as I suddenly stopped walking.

"What is it?" Kodai asked me as she looked forward. In the view of the flashlight, about 40 feet in front of us, was another body on the ground. We ran over to see who it was. When we arrived, I put Kodai on the ground and she shined her light on the person. It was Kaibara. He was laying on his chest on the ground. His back was completely exposed and running from the top of his neck to the mid-section of his back was that same deep slash wound. I quickly checked for any signs that he might still be alive. Blood was coming from his mouth, his body covered in deep scratches as well. After checking for breathing and a pulse, I figured there was no point in trying to revive him. Just like the others, he was gone. "No..." Kodai said as she broke down into tears. I picked her back up into my arms and I comforted her. "It'll be alright. We'll... We'll make it out of this... together." I said as a cracking noise broke the silence around us. "What was that?" Kodai asked as she started to shine the flashlight around the area. We weren't able to see anything in our field of view but there was something on the ground that caught our eye. Bloody footprints. They were headed in the opposite direction that Kaibara's body was laying in. "Look at these..." I said as Kodai now saw them too. "Do you think these are from Kendo?" She asked me. "I can't say for sure. And... I don't know if I want to follow them. They could lead us into some sort of a trap for all we know." I explained as Kodai gave me a nod. "So where do we go then?" She asked me. "We'll find where Kendo and Kaibara came down here from. We'll find the path back to our camp site and we'll defend ourselves from there." I said as all of a sudden, someone began to scream, and it was very close to us. "That's Kendo! She's nearby! We have to help her!" Kodai said as I took off towards the screaming.

"Get away from me! What do you want!?" We heard Kendo yell as we arrived on the scene. Kendo was running towards a lake that was just ahead of her. Jumping out of a bush to try and grab her were two people, a man and a woman. The man was tall, bald and he was wearing a leather jacket and jeans. The woman had long red hair, a grey sweatshirt and some ripped pants on. "Come back here, missy! It's no fun for us if you keep running away!" The woman said as she suddenly put both of her hands on the ground. Appearing in front of her, from the ground, were those same hands that attacked me and Kodai before. "They're the ones who've been killing everyone!" I said as I kept running forward. We watched as Kendo's legs were grabbed by the hands, causing her to trip and fall on her face. The hands then pinned down Kendo as the man slowly walked up to her. "You got the last one so this one's mine. Only two more to go after this." The man said as he raised his left hand into the air. I could just barely see that a condensed ball of wind was forming in his hand. "Wait... That's what's been making the slashes on the victims! The wind must be so fast and strong that it literally slashes a person to pieces! I've gotta stop them!" I said as I lifted Kodai up and sat her on my shoulders. "Now I can fight!" I said as we neared the two people and Kendo. "Let her go!" I yelled as the two people looked around and saw us. "Well this is different to say the least. Our prey has never come to us before." The woman said as she touched the ground behind her with one of her hands. Popping out of the ground in front of me were more of the hands. "That won't stop me! Spark! Flare!" I said as I sent a small stream of flames towards the hands. They retracted into the ground and I kept pushing forward. "So you're that brat that burned me earlier! I'll make you pay!" The lady said as the other man now stood by her side. He had left Kendo but she was still being pinned to the ground by the hands. "It's fine, honey. I'll take him down just like all the others. With one strike! Wind slash!" The man said as he waved his left arm across his body. I could see a very faint line of wind coming right for us very quickly. "Shit! Expand! Shield!" I said as I reached my right arm straight out. My fist morphed into a huge circular shield that blocked the incoming attack. I quickly crouched down and told Kodai to get off of me and hide in the bushes. She listened and crawled off my back, slowly making it to the bushes. The other two people weren't able to see her thanks to my shield blocking their view. When Kodai was out of sight, I turned my fist back to its normal state and I stared down the two attackers. "You're going to be more trouble than we thought. It seems you're capable of using more than just a fire quirk." The lady said to me as she still had both of her hands on the ground.

"What is it that you want!? Why are you trying to kill us all!?" I asked the two people. They both looked at each other and just started laughing. "Because it's fun." The lady said to me as I became confused. "What!? Why?" I asked them angrily. "We hunt people for sport. It gives us this thrill like you wouldn't believe, and we just have a blast doing it. Whenever people come into our territory, we're always waiting for them. And thanks to your teacher, he delivered six fine children for us to prey on." The man explained to me. "Now where's your little friend? The one that was just on your shoulders. I know she couldn't have gone far because she hurt her legs earlier." The woman said to me. "Like hell i'll tell you where she went. Now let my friend go! I promise i'll go easy on you two if you do!" I ordered them as they just started laughing again. "Do you think we're stupid, kid? You're the one who should be listening to us! If you don't want this orange haired brat to die right now, then I suggest you do as we say! Now get over here!" The man ordered me as I now started to laugh.

"No chance! Portals!" I yelled as my body's veins began to glow purple. Appearing to my right was a portal and appearing behind the two killers was another one. I quickly jumped into the portal to my right and I emerged behind the two people. They had no time to react as I was now mere inches from the two of them. "Spark! Electrify!" I said as I sent a high voltage electric charge into my right fist. I reached forward, placing my hand on top of the woman's head. I began to shock her, making her scream in pain. She took both of her hands off of the ground, releasing Kendo. The man began to sing his right arm at me and I could feel the wind picking up. "Shit! Portals!" I said as I created two more portals, one beneath my feet and the other by Kendo. I fell into the one below me and I landed next to where Kendo was standing up. "You ok?" I asked her. "Yeah, i'm fine. But Kaibara..." She began to say before I stopped her. "We saw. Go find Kodai. She's hiding close by. I want both of you to make a run for the bus. I think it's somewhere West of here. I'll hold off these two for as long as I can." I said to Kendo as she grabbed my left arm. "No! I'm staying to help you!"She said to me. "Kendo, please! They were able to overpower you before, and if they took me down, then they'd surely take you down again. And Kodai is in no condition to fight at all. Please, find her and run to safety." I explained to her as she gripped my arm hard. "You'd better make it out of this, or i'll kill you!" Kendo said to me as she let go of my arm. "I promise. Now get out of here! Make as much ground as you can!" I said as Kendo took off. The only problem was that she had to run past the two killers. "That's it! Come to die!" The man yelled as he began to move his arms. "You're not gonna lay a single finger on her! Wall!" I said as my veins began to glow again. Appearing from the ground was a wall make out of the earth itself. It separated Kendo from the killers, allowing her to safely find Kodai and run off. "I'm the only one you should be concerned with!" I said as the killers began to walk forward. "Big mistake, kid. When we're done with you, we'll find those little bitches. We'll show them your severed head before we end their lives." The lady said to me as I now started walking forward. "Bring it on. I've dealt with much scarier than you two." I said to them.

"You little shit! You've caused us enough trouble for one night! It's time to die!" The lady said as she put both of her hands on the ground again. Emerging from the ground near me were two more hands, only this time they were enormous. They were probably around 30x the size of a normal persons hand. "I'll squash you like a bug!" The lady said as she made the two giant hands come together, trying to clap me in between them. "Gravity! Zero!" I said as I snapped my fingers. I changed the area around us to zero gravity and I quickly jumped up and avoided the attack. "What the hell!? My body feels weird! What did you do!?" The man asked me. "I changed the gravity around us to zero! Your hands won't be able to touch me now!" I said as the woman took both of her hands off of the ground. The man then jumped into the air, using his quirk to propel himself over to me. "Wind slash!" The man yelled as he swiped his right arm across his body. That same faint line of wind came flying towards me. "You're not the only one who can control wind! Air stream! Typhoon!" I yelled as I sent a huge gust of wind forward, the wind moving at speeds over 200 mph. Both of our attacks collided, but the man's was stronger. It broke through my wind and hit me in my left shoulder. I was just able to move out of the way enough so that the attack wouldn't severely injure me. Although, the gash on my shoulder did run pretty deep. I had to shrug off the pain though and keep on fighting.

"I've gotta figure out a way to take them both out with one shot. I can't get close to the man because the woman will just stop me with her hands. And I can't get close to her because the man will intercept me with his wind. Somehow, I've gotta bring them together and take them out." I thought as I thought of a risky idea. It would surely be able to attack both of the killers but it would also kill me if I got caught in it. I had to take that chance though. I tried to focus hard, my veins glowing even brighter now. I raised my right arm into the air and I snapped my fingers. "It'll take a few minutes... but this should to the trick." I said as I looked below me. I saw I was hovering over the lake. "That'll be useful." I thought as I looked back up to see the man coming straight for me. "Die!" The man yelled as he pulled back one of his arms. "Oh shit! Gravity! Normal!" I said as I reverted the gravity in the area back to normal. I fell from the sky and the man went right over me, now falling far behind me and into the lake. I used more air streams to control my decent and land safely on solid ground and not in the lake. Or so I thought. The moment I put my feet on the ground, another giant hand popped out of the ground. I tried to get out of its reach but it moved so fast. I grabbed onto my body, making it hard to move any of my limbs. It raised me into the air and held me upside down. "That'll hold you. Now wait there while my husband gets out of that lake." The lady said as she was barely in my view. However, I could see her hands were on the ground. Her husband on the other hand used his quirk to shoot himself out of the lake and over to us. He landed a few feet away from the lady and shook off the water on him. "Dirty little trick, kid. I'm gonna make you suffer." He said as he walked up to me. I however, began to sniff the air. "Not enough. Just a little more..." I thought as the man put his right hand near my face. "Looks like the right side of your face already has a nasty burn mark on it. Is that your hand print?" The man jokingly asked me as I spit onto his face. His expression turned to pure rage as he began to make another ball of wind in his hand. "Well, i'm about to make that burn look like a goldfish bite. Let's just mess up the left side of your face, shall we?" The man said to me as I could feel the wind passing by my cheek.

The wind was picking up speed, fast. Pretty soon, it began to cut into the skin on my cheek. Deeper and deeper, I let out more screams of pain as the man went on to just below my left eye. "Hurts, doesn't it!? That's what you get for hurting my wife!" The man said as he stopped slicing up my face. I was in so much pain. The man left my side and walked over to his wife, putting his right arm over her shoulders. "Well honey, what do you think? Shall we put him out of his misery? I mean... he looks dead already, but let's just be sure." The man said as he started to laugh. "Let's end him. I think it's your turn, dear. Slice off that nasty looking head of his!" The woman said as the man put both of his hands together and put them over his head. In a panic, I started to sniff the air again, and luckily for me, it was ready. "Even if I die here... the two of you still lose..." I said to the two people as they grew curious. "What was that? How can we lose? You're practically on deaths door and we're nearly fine. And when we're done with you, the other two will be next." The woman explained to me as I started to chuckle. "I never said that you two were gonna be the ones to kill me." I said as they grew even more curious. "What are you talking about, kid?" The man asked me as he started to walk up  to me. "Boy, you're both dense. Can't you smell it?" I asked them as they started to sniff the air. "Now that you mention it, the air does smell weird. What did you do!?" The man asked me. "It took a while but I filled the air with Methane. I couldn't spread it out much though. But luckily for me, the two of you are in its range. It would sure be a shame if a spark were to say... light the gas." I explained as both of their faces turned to pure horror. "Shit! We need to get out of here, honey!" The man said as he turned to run. He grabbed his wife and she took her hands off of the ground, freeing me from the giant hand. I looked behind me and saw the lake was right there. I just had to hope the water was deep enough now. "Spark! Flare!" I cried out as I ignited my right fist. I then turned and ran for the water, diving into the lake as the air around me and the killers ignited into flames. I was just able to make it onto the water before being burned by the flames.

The flames lasted for a few seconds but they finally stopped and I resurfaced. I got out of the lake and shook off the water on me. The two killers were still alive but they were both on fire. They were rolling on the ground, trying to put out the fires as I walked over to them. They were both screaming their heads off and I could see their skin was burning. "Now you know how if feels to be hurt! And i'll make it so you two never hurt anyone ever again!" I said as my veins began to glow purple again. "No please! Don't kill us!" The lady yelled as she still tried to put out the flames. "Portal! Dimension!" I said as a single portal emerged below both of the killers. They both fell through and I closed the portal. "There... you won't be breaking out of that... anytime soon. Until you're ready to go to prison." I said to myself as I spit up some blood. "Gotta... make it back... to the bus." I said as I limped my through the forest, heading West where hopefully, I would find our bus, along with Kendo and Kodai.

-Time Skip: 2 Hours-

The next morning had arrived and the sun was beginning to rise into the sky. My legs felt like they were going to give out but I finally managed to make it out of that god forsaken forest. I exited it about 200 feet from where our bus was parked. I made my way over to it and thankfully, I could see two people sitting next to each other on the side of the bus. Kendo and Kodai had made it out safely. They both saw me walking towards them and Kendo came running over to me. Kodai stayed in place so I guess she still couldn't walk much. "Cry! Are you ok!? What happened to the killers!?" Kendo asked as I began to fall over. She caught me in her arms though and supported me back up. "I'm alright. Just... a few scratches and bruises..." I said to her with clear pain in my voice. "What about the killers? Where are they? Did they get away?" She asked me as I let out a small chuckle. "Don't worry. I've got them trapped. A pocket dimension can really come in handy for trapping people." I said to Kendo as she sat me down on the side of the bus. "We saw a huge burst of flames come from where you were fighting. We feared for the worst then." Kodai said to me. "That was... all part of the plan." I said to them as they both gave me smiles. "Did you call someone for help?" I asked as Kendo gave me a nod. "Yes. Police and Paramedics should be here shortly." Kendo explained as I leaned my head back and sighed in relief. "Good..." I quietly said.

After about 20 minutes of waiting, the paramedics and police arrived on the scene. All three of us were placed in an ambulance and our wounds were being treated. I opened up my pocket dimension, releasing the two killers. However, the police were waiting for them and arrested them on the spot. They were both placed in quirk nullifying handcuffs so they couldn't attack anyone else. They were taken away in an armored truck. As for our friends, Mr. Kan and the dead hiker... all of their remains were found and they were treated with care. It was sad seeing them all go by us, knowing that this was the last time we would ever get to see them. All three of us began to cry as we all shared this thought. But the nightmare had finally ended. What started as a simple training exercise ended up being the most life-threatening experience we had all shared. And even though we lost several of our friends, they will never be forgotten. We all just had to keep pushing past the pain. If this taught us anything, it would be that we're all nowhere near ready to be heroes. But if we all trained harder, worked harder, and thought smarter, maybe one day, we would all have the strength to never lose anyone, ever again. And with that, we all headed home, back to U.A, where we would continue on with our normal lives, trying our best to become the greatest heroes.
