XXXVI. Verifying The Rumours

"Ahsid, Ibrahim says that Ouranos wants to meet you,"said Zion, suddenly, as they mind linked each other.

Eugene came forward,"I will take Ahsid there. They should be down the Coetus hall."

He grabbed her hand, pulling her away. "Now, Ahsid, Ouranos is pretty easy to handle. Stoke his ego and he will let you go."

Ahsid chuckled,"Hey, I want to learn how to create my personal 空間(kūkan), now that I can do magic. Will you guide me?"

Eugene nodded enthusiastically.

Ahsid saw a boy as tall as Ibrahim with black hair and pale blue flashing eyes look up at her near the Coetus gate.

"Ahsid, this is Ouranos, the leader of the Coetus, which has always been a constant ally in times of need."

Ouranos smirked,"Splendid to see that a mortal has come so far."

"A pleasure, Sir. Ibrahim has told me a lot about you."

"Please, call me Ouranos,"he corrected, pleased thus failing to notice the wink that Eugene gave Ahsid while Ibrahim secretly noted how smooth and manipulatively diplomatic that was.

"If you don't mind, Ibrahim, I'd like to speak to her alone."

Ibrahim stood deliberating but then nodded quickly. He left with Eugene.

"Ahsid, I hope Tanya took care of you."

"Your Healer? Well, I am talking to you right now, ain't I?"

"True,"he admitted and then quietly asked her to follow him outside.

Wary that she did not have her weapons with her, she still followed him, out of curiosity.

"If you do not mind me asking, are you a werewolf?"

Ouranos nodded. He did not ask how she guessed so.

"Is it true that King Ethan is...is known to you?"

Ahsid stiffened.

Noticing the slight movement, Ouranos answered,"I take that as a yes. Ahsid, there have been rumours rife that the King will be back soon to lead us, that Zion found him living in the mortal world incognito. Bitte, sag mir, ist das richtig?"

Ahsid sighed,"Wouldn't Zion be better able to tell you?"

Ouranos sighed right back. "I did but he just beat around the bush. That is why I am asking you. Please Ahsid, what with him being a 収差(shūsa)..."

"What's that?"

He looked at her, a trifle suprised, then explained,"Not all wolves are equally adept at transforming. In fact, for some, it is so painful that if transformed too frequently, they could even die. When the King disappeared, many foolish rumours came to being but this one was the most appropriate."

"But how does it matter if Ethan is a 収差?"

Smirking at how she had just called the once most important Alpha by his first name, Ouranos answered,"When the heir is to be coronated, he or she must accept the crown by transforming in front of the people, letting out a feral howl. If the uncrowned prince was to show that he was a 収差, then, well, a riot could have broken out. A 収差 is despised due to this apparent weakness. They can never assume a position of authority. You do understand, don't you?"

"Is there no way to right this wrong?"

"A tragic unfortunate anomaly,"stated Ouranos, but his eyes suddenly clouded over,"A quite impressive way to change the topic and try to gauge what I think about the King."

Ahsid flushed deeply. "I didn't..."

"It is fine! Honestly, I want him to come back. He may be a 収差 but he is the only one who can lead us to our former glory."

Ahsid bowed her head to see the devotion in his eyes when he talked about his people. It was so much like Zion, his blue eyes flashing like a million small droplets of water shielding the sun.

"Ouranos, I know Ethan very well. He cares deeply for his people too."

Although Ahsid wasn't sure, she knew she just had to comfort him, let it be with words which could turn out to be false.

"He and Zion are trying to bring him back into the mainstream. But that is all I know, I am sorry."

Ouranos smiled. "So he is coming back...My mind can finally rest in peace."

"If you don't mind me saying, but maybe you should talk to Zion. If you tell him that I told you to, he might consider speaking about it. You could try convincing him that you could help."

Ouranos nodded eagerly,"Indeed! There will be some people unwilling to accept him deeming him as irresponsible. Maybe I could convince them otherwise..."

And without a word, Ouranos hurried inside, leaving Ahsid outside.

Suddenly, she heard a rapid rustle in the nearby bushes. She looked about when in a flash, Ibrahim was by her side. Had he been eavesdropping?

"Someone's here."

Ahsid nodded but the bushes parted to reveal a boy with jagged black hair and midnight blue eyes.

"ETHAN,"gasped Ahsid.

A/N: I am actually pretty disappointed in myself. While rereading the previous chapters, I came across many silly spelling mistakes and some grammatical errors. Also, I came across some potential errors which I hastily corrected. I am worried that I haven't done justice to the minor characters and I have left some loopholes which I will definitely cover up in the later chapters. So, to avoid future errors and mistakes, I will make sure that I reread the text carefully and with full concentration. Dane, Ahsid, Zion and the others are my precious babies and I do not want to disappoint them and of course, my amazing readers with my tardiness(can be read as sloppiness). Bye for now.
