XX. Punch And Block
When a portal opened right in the middle of the grounds, it did nothing to distract Harry, Noah and Ahsid. She had her knees bent and her shoulders tense, as she repeated the movements which Harry had taught her.
"Punch and block and punch and side kick."
Ahsid nodded and executed the movements on Noah, who mirrored her.
"Your thumb needs to be at the side of your fist,"pointed out Noah.
Sweat trickled down Ahsid's forehead. Nodding, she corrected it.
"Again,"urged Harry,"punch and block and punch and..."
"What the blazes is going on here,"boomed a voice.
"Dane?" Ahsid spun around at his shocked voice.
But at that moment, Noah's fist connected with her jaw and she stumbled back, blood spitting out from her mouth.
"Distractions, you need to focus Ahsid."
But, then Harry noticed the blood...all hell broke loose!
Harry lunged at Ahsid but was immediately knocked to the ground by Zion who had shifted to wolf form. Noah came between Ahsid and Zion, blocking her view. Zion snarled in anger while Harry's eyes shifted through colours in rapid succession. Zion howled into the sky, at which Noah pulled her hand.
"Come on, Ahsid. We need to take you far away from here."
"But...but Harry..."
"Come on, he will be fine,"said Noah and pulled Ahsid away.
Meanwhile, Dane just stood there. Anger coursed through his veins. His hands trembled and he struggled to keep control. He immediately opened a portal and disappeared through it, Ahsid's yells of his name ringing through his ears.
The portal which he had opened led him into a dark, black abyss. He stood there, his mind racing through dark thoughts. Had he stayed there for a minute longer, he would have murdered Harry, not to mention the others present in a hundred meters radius around him. He didn't want to see the horror in Ahsid's eyes, the horror which had broken him so when she was under the Arouse Spell. He stood there quietly, knowing that Zion and Noah could take care of the situation.
Moreover, he wasn't mad at Harry, because he couldn't help being a blood-sucking vampire but mad at himself for underestimating Ahsid's indomitable will to do training. Why didn't she contact him when he had given her the number? But then, he realized he was being silly. Ahsid could contact anybody from the Coetus and she had the full freedom too, but he could not pinpoint what made him so jealous. No, he had to get a grip on himself. He put on a sarcastic expression where he set his mouth into a firm line and decided to teleport back to the Coetus.
Meanwhile, Ahsid struggled to loosen Noah's grip.
"Noah, where is Dane going? Dane...Dane.."
But, Noah had noticed the darkness in the yellow eyes and the frown on his face.
"He will be alright. We need to get inside."
Sighing, Ahsid gave in and let herself be dragged into the mansion. Once again, she found herself in the healing room.
"Oh, hey Zen, didn't expect you here,"he called out.
Zen gave a polite greeting and then looked at the blood dripping through Ahsid's jaw.
"Woah! You okay?"
Ahsid nodded but her eyes clouded over. Before long, tears dripped down her cheeks.
"Oh Ahsid, Ahsid, I am sorry, I am sorry,"cried out Noah, his smile turning into a lopsided frown.
"It's not that,"said Ahsid, stamping her feet in frustration. "I just can't seem to be of any use to you and I keep jeopardizing your camaraderie with the others and make Dane mad everytime and..."
"You have no fault in that,"completed Zen.
Ahsid was quiet, her sobs the only noise in the room. Zen came close with some cotton and bottle.
"Now, sit down and let me have a look at that."
Ahsid obeyed him. Noah stood beside her, a sad smile replacing his face.
"I am sure Dane's going to kill me for coming to training today."
"No, I won't."
"Dane? I am so sorry I..."
Dane silenced her with a wave of his hand. "Don't worry about it."
Noah stepped forward. "I am..."
"If Ahsid accepted your apology, it's enough for me."
Noah's eyes widened although he had no idea how much of a toll it was taking on him to keep his voice even and calm.
"We should go back considering its a new day tomorrow and it's best if Harry is kept away from you for a while."
Zen smiled."I am done, Dane. She's good to go."
Ahsid thanked him, waved a sheepish goodbye to Noah who didn't dare to meet her eyes and walked out with Dane. He simply summoned a portal and beckoned her through. Ahsid did not argue about riding on Baby.
When they reached, Ahsid thought he would give her a piece of his mind and roast him slowly over red hot coal but he simply muttered a goodbye and left. It was bad...Dane was like the calm before the tempest. Sighing, she kicked off her sneakers, looked at the cut on her jaw, trying to think of some excuses. Only two days and she had a searing ache through the day, although it had almost disappeared now and cuts on her elbows and knees and face already. With an annoyed huff at her incompetence, she crept into bed, but not before leaving a message for Harry to not worry about her.
