Chapter 9: Slayers vs. Dragon!
The Next Day
I came back into consciousness to the sounds of arguing and fighting. "You Flame Brain!" "What did you call me Stripper!" "You heard me Ash Breathe!" "Wanna go Ice Princess!?" "SHUT UP!" I heard Erza yell at Gray and Natsu. Next thing I know, I heard a loud thump of heads banging together and two small "Aye..." I slowly opened my eyes and had to close them quickly. I had my face against the Sun. I turned over onto my right and opened my eyes, only to be facing a beautiful girl. Abbey had on a small smile and was staring at my face. "Uh... Hi." I said, heat rising to my cheeks. "Hi." She replied, giggling. She got up and I followed. "Come on! The second round is about to start! You want to win, don't you?" Abbey asked. I just grinned and ran towards the others. "I'm up! Let's start!" I said, approaching the others with Abigail behind. Master saw us and grinned. "Well then! We can continue!" He said. I looked at Natsu, Gray, and Juvia. "You do know I won't be holding back, right?" I asked, looking at them darkly, requipping my boots on. "Bring it on, Nightmare!" Natsu said, punching his fist into his palm. Abigail and Lucy sighed in defeat. Gray just grinned evilly and said "You're gonna lose, Black Breathe." Gajeel just chuckled. "Geehee." Juvia gave me a blank stare. "Juvia is sorry that Robert has to lose to her." She said, hostility in her voice. Wendy tried to calm Juvia down. "N-Now now Juvia! Let's not get hasty!" Wendy said.
"Well then, shall we begin?" Master asked. We all nodded. "Then in 3..." Master counted down. Everyone got into a running stance while Abbey and I got back-to-back. Master saw this and his eyes twinkled. "2..." Abbey and I fell to our knees and held hands. "1..." We both looked towards the sky. "GO!" "LIGHT/DARK BARRIER!" We both chanted. The barrier sprang up, trapping all of us other then Master. Natsu wasn't thinking and ran into the barrier along side Gray. "Gray!" "Natsu!" Juvia and Lucy exclaimed. Abbey and I got up and walked out of the barrier calmly. "ROBERT!" Gray yelled at us in frustration. "See ya'. We'll send you a post card from the finish line!" I yelled back. Abbey laughed. We then started running in the forest, our speed becoming so fast that even a motorcycle wasn't faster then us. "So! Where do we go from here!?" Abbey yelled over the wind in our ears. "Center of the Island!" I yelled back. Abbey's necklace was exposed. It was the complete opposite from mine. It was a white diamond dragon with black onyx eyes.
We veered off towards the right and continued. That's when our magic controlling the barrier shut off. "They broke it!?" I exclaimed. "Don't worry! Let's continue!" Abbey replied. "FOUND YOU!" I heard Natsu yell. I looked over my shoulder and saw an angry Natsu with Lucy clinging on his back. His feet were releasing a blast of flame and Lucy was screaming in fear. "Dodge!" I said, looking at Abigail. Both of us stopped and fell to the ground. Natsu went flying while Lucy quickly let go, going into a tuck and roll. When she got up, a golden key was in her hand. "Open! Gate of the Lion! Leo!" Lucy chanted. A young man of average height came in a puff of smoke and a doorbell noise. His hair had comparatively larger spikes jutting in every direction, with a pair framing his face; due to another pair of strands sitting on top of his head, being vaguely reminiscent of animal ears, the rest of his hair mirrors a lion's mane. His attire consisted of an elegant dark suit, with the jacket left unbuttoned and the loose pants held up by a light colored belt, over a lighter shirt with a zebra-striped tie around the neck, plus dark shoes. He was holding Lucy's hand close to his mouth and said "Hello, Princess..." He also wore some glasses.
Lucy looked annoyed and said "Instead of flirting with me, attack them!" She pointed towards Abbey and I. We heard a crash behind us and Natsu groaning in pain. "You got it!" The guy said, running at us with glowing fists. "Abbey..." I said. "Roger." Abbey said in an emotionless voice with an equally emotionless face. She ran at the guy with glowing fists and got into a battle with him. Lucy and I began to circle each other. "We don't have to do this Lucy." I warned. "Too bad!" Lucy said, launching her whip at me. It wrapped around my arm I used to block it. She was pulling me towards her, and I was pulling backwards. "Fine then! Dark Dragon Claw!" I yelled jumping up and bringing my foot down. It was encased in darkness. Lucy used her Celestial Dragon powers and made a star shield. But she dropped her whip, making it go slack on my arm. I jumped backwards after coming in contact with the star. I snapped my fingers and a mass of dark tentacles wrapped around Lucy, keeping her in place. She struggled, but couldn't break free. "Abbey!" I called to her. "Go!" She yelled at me, still in combat with the guy, "I'll cover you and meet back soon!" I hesitated, until she yelled "Run!"
I ran and looked over my shoulder. Natsu had knocked himself out, the guy was facing Abbey, and Lucy had stopped struggling. I looked forward as I gained speed and dodged trees. I was now just a dark streak on the land. "Water Slicer!" I heard a voice chanted. A sonic wave of water flew at me and knocked me off my feet. "Argh!" I grunted in pain, rolling on the ground. When I came to a stop, I looked up and saw Juvia and Wendy. Wendy had a worried look in her eyes and Juvia had an emotionless look. "Sorry Robert, but it seems that Juvia has bested you. Be ready to taste defeat." She said with a bored tone. I snaked my hand into my pocket and gripped the object. It was shaped as a key with a weird handle. "How did you find my position?" I asked, trying to distract her. "It was fairly easy. You see, Wendy and Juvia saw Robert fighting with Natsu and Lucy and thought of a plan." Juvia smirked. By now I had pulled the key out of my pocket. It was platinum and had a moon design with a howling wolf at the handle and the key part had two fangs. "Yeah... but you forgot one thing..." I said with my own smirk. Juvia looked confused and Wendy's eyes widened when she saw the key.
"Juvia-!" Wendy began to warn. "Too late! Come! Goddess of the Moon! Patron of Werewolves and Vampire's! Selene!" I called. In a flash of white light, Juvia and Wendy were sent flying back. "Always keep your guard up." Selene said, the light vanishing and finishing my statement. She was wearing her night sky dress. Her pale skin contrasting with the black of her dress. Her red eyes filled with amusement and her vampire fangs showing in her grin. Juvia and Wendy were slowly getting up. "Go on Robert. I got these two." Selene said, extending her fingers and gaining deadly looking claws. Each one was painted black. "No maiming." I said, running off towards the center of the island. I could hear her whine and complain. As I ran, I found a cavern. It was empty and looked deserted. I slowed down and walked into it. As I slowly advanced, I got this weird feeling in my heart. As I reached the end, I saw a light coming from it. As I stepped through the opening, I found myself alone in a secluded area. In front of me was a weirdly designed stone grave. Did I... make it?
"Welcome to the grave of the Founder of Fairy Tail Robert." I heard Master say from behind me. I spun around and found master standing there with a comforting smile. "Where is your partner?" Master asked, looking around for Abigail. Finally, realization set in. I left my partner to deal with a pair and left my ally to deal with another. I fell to my knees. "I... left them back..." I said, my voice sounding hollow. "Why is that?" Master asked. "Because... they told me to continue onward..." I replied, feeling my eyes swell with tears. "I see... so they had faith in you to win, and you left them to go on ahead." Master commented. I nodded, not trusting my voice. "Why didn't you help them?" he asked. "Because... I was focused on getting here..." I replied. It was quiet. All that was making noise was nature and my tears falling to the ground. "Don't count us out yet." I heard Abbey call. I looked up and saw Abbey limping in with Selene. Both looked banged up, but alright. I got up and gave both of them a bone crushing hug.
"You're okay..." I said, smiling. "You trusted us to beat them, so we did. You're welcome." Selene said. I let go of them and smiled. "Yeah." "Well! It seems that you have your team Robert. Now it's time for the final obstacle." Master said, interrupting us. We all looked at him. He stood there with an evil grin. "Come out!" he called. From behind the grave came Diana. She wore a purple dress and had a hard expression on her face. "I shall be your opponent." She said. All three of us paled. "Ah shit..." I said. That's when Diana's form began to change. Her hair started to levitate and her eyes became reptilian. Big, purple dragon wings sprouted from her back. Her hands became miniature dragon claws same as her feet. We gulped at her sudden change. "Let's see what you got!" Diana yelled at us. Master stepped back as we got into our fighting stances. Selene summoned two curved swords, one pale white and the other midnight black. I summoned my Dragon Armor to cover only my arms and legs. Abigail got her magic ready to support.
We heard people rush in behind us and heard gasps. "Holy shit... they're facing Diana as the final!" I heard Natsu say. "Begin!" Master called. Just as I was about to launch myself at Diana, she was already in front of me, her palms shoving Selene and Abigail into a wall behind us. I heard both fall to the ground, groaning in pain. I quickly went to kick at her head but she blocked it with her index finger and chanted "Dragon Suffering!" pure agony rang through my body and I fell to the ground, silently screaming and twitching. A purple magic circle with a dragon head in the center of it was under me and glowing. "Robert!" I heard Lucy call out. "Oh my God..." I heard Juvia mumble. I stopped moving all together and the magic circle dispelled. "And he's out." Diana said, walking away. "Not... so... fast..." I called out slowly. My movements were sluggish as I got up. Diana froze and turned her head to look at me with wide eyes. I stood there, panting. "What? How?" Diana asked, genuinely confused. "Dark Dragon Slayer Secret Art!" I chanted, going into an Ice-Make stance. You see, I know I wouldn't win with just a normal attack. So the secret art was needed to at least beat her. "What!?" Gray called out, clearly confused with why I'm using this stance.
Diana paled. "Step 1! Everlasting Demons!" I called, thrusting my hands towards Diana. A large, black magic circle with a black dragon head appeared. Demons flew out of the magic circle attacking Diana with black fire, black ice, black wind, and black rocks. Diana kept on slicing and dodging the attacks. "Step 2! Horrifying Monsters!" I continued. I felt my Magic drain as now monsters such as Large scorpions and Werewolves started existing the circle. Diana stopped dodging now and was using her wings as a protective barrier. "Final Step!" I called out, feeling my magic starting to lose power. The magic circle was losing its brilliance. "Frightening... TITANS!" I yelled. The magic circle glowed as bright as a supernova and released a golden warrior. His whole body was covered in golden armor and only his eyes were visible. His eyes looked like two miniature suns. Though a black collar was around his neck. I held the chain. "Well, well, well... the real world... I have returned!" the warrior yelled in a loud voice.
"What!? You summoned a Titan!?" Diana yelled, getting ready to attack. The warrior's name came to me. "Hyperion!" I called. The Titan of the South Wind looked at me over his shoulder. "What do you want boy?" he asked in a tired tone. "Attack her! But no killing!" I commanded him. He sneered at me and pulled a golden greatsword from the Golden scabbard on his back. He launched himself at Diana and swung down at her. She dodged away from the blade and got ready a punch. The Titan saw that coming and launched a blast of hot air from his body in all directions. All of us yelled in pain as the hot air rolled over our skin. I felt my power draining even more and the magic circle began to flicker and distort. Hyperion walked over to her and laid his sword point at Diana's neck. "Surrender." He stated.
Diana said nothing. "Fine then." Hyperion said. When he went to lift up his blade, my power shut off and the magic circle started sacking the Titan back from where he came. "No! I'm not finished!" Hyperion yelled, holding onto a tree root. I let go of the chain and fell to the ground. The chain was sucked into the circle and Hyperion lost his grip screaming as the circle closed behind him. I felt drained and tired. I was panting heavily. "Robert!" everyone called. I looked towards Abbey with a sad smile. "I..." I didn't get to finish because Diana said "Won. Robert has won." I looked at her as she sat up. Her dress was ripped in places and her hair was messy. Scratches and cuts adorned her features.
"Then we have our winner! Congratulations to Robert Wieder! Out new S-Class wizard!" Master called out. Everyone began clapping and cheering as I fell asleep with a happy smile.
