Chapter 4: The Oracle

I was running from something in my dream. Roars of monsters rang through the air and a man's evil laughter rang through my head. I looked over my shoulder really quick and saw what seemed to be a cyclops running at me with a tree trunk sized club. The cyclops was 9 feet tall and had one large brown eye. It raised the tree trunk sized club up high and brought it down with a mighty roar. I quickly rolled out of the way and managed to evade the club. I got up and ran into an alley on the street I was on. I took deep breathes and slowly looked around the corner. I came face-to-face with the monster's knee. I gulped and slowly looked up and it. It snarled at me and raised its club. Then, multiple arrows bombarded its face and it reeled back. It roared in anger and pain and I looked in the direction of the arrows. I saw a twelve year old girl with auburn hair and silver eyes. She wore a silver parka, unzipped, and wore animal furs underneath.

"Run Robert!" The little girl said. So, I ran. As I ran, a monstrous roar resounded through the street. I looked up. The sky was red and the clouds looked black. Then, I ran into a hard back and fell backwards. When I landed on my butt, I looked up at the person I ran into. The man slowly turned around and stared at me. He had black hair and blood red eyes. He had a malicious grin on his face and looked at me with an unimaginable hunger. "Time to die boy!" He yelled. He aimed his hand at me as a swirl of black and purple started to form. Just as a blast of power shot at me I fell into blackness. Just like that, I gasped and shot my eyes open. I was greeted with a dark room. I quickly sat up and looked around. For some reason, the Fairy Tail group and Abbey were in my room. They were asleep. Natsu was snoring with Happy (Don't know when he got here!) right beside him. Abbey was lightly snoring beside me in my bed. She lay on top of the quilt. I looked at the foot of my bed and saw Wendy lying across the foot of the bed along with Carla (Same as her!). As I continued looking around the room, I saw Gray lying on the hardwood floor in nothing but his boxers, Lucy sleeping peacefully with a smile on her face beside Natsu somehow, and Erza sleeping while sitting up against the door to my closet.

I went to rub my biceps, but felt a thin layer of sweat on my skin. I slowly and quietly got out of bed and looked down at myself. I was in my uniform from school still. I slowly maneuvered myself around everyone on the floor in my room. Just before I exited, I went into one of my dresser's drawers and pulled out a random t-shirt and some pajama pants. I stepped out of my room in silence and walked towards the bathroom. I turned on the shower and put my uniform in the laundry hamper before jumping in. I let the water run over me as I leaned my head against the tiled wall. I let my thoughts wander to the dream. It felt real... TOO real. What was that!? Who was that little girl!? I must have been in here for a while cause someone knocked on the door. "Robert?" a voice called out. It sounded like Abigail. I turned off the shower and jumped out.

I quickly dried off myself with the towel and slipped on my pajamas. I opened to door with the towel on my head and saw Abbey out there along with a sleepy looking Wendy. Wendy was swaying side-to-side and had her eyes squinted. Carla was on her head, but still fast asleep. Abigail gave me a look and crossed her arms in front of her. "What?" I asked. Abbey just sighed and reached up to move the towel around my head. "I can't believe I have to do this for you..." she said in a hushed tone. I just rolled my eyes. When she was done, she took the towel off and handed it to me. I went to the hamper and threw it in. "Come on. You must be hungry." She said. And just like that, my stomach grumbled at the thought of food. Abbey giggled and Wendy just jumped in her spot and opened her eyes a bit. Carla woke from her sleep, rubbing her eyes with her paws. "Hmm? What's going on?" She asked.

"We're getting Robert some food." Abigail answered. Carla nodded and hopped off of Wendy's head and proceeded to walk towards the stairs. We all followed Carla as she walked like a human down the stairs. "Does my mom know you are over?" I whispered to Abbey. She shook her head no. "She isn't home. She left a note though." She replied in a hushed tone. "You do know I can hear you both, right?" Wendy asked, making Abbey and I both jump. I chuckled nervously and Abbey squeaked. Just as we reached the bottom staircase, my whole body tensed up and my heart beat a bit harder. It felt like I had just stepped through a wall of Jell-O. Abbey, Wendy, and Carla tensed up as well. Someone shifted on the couch and footsteps were heard slowly approaching us.

Wendy, Abbey, and Carla stepped pushed me behind them and got into defensive positions. Even Carla, who apparently can change into a human form! In her human form, she had white skin, white hair, a white tail with a red ribbon tied to it, and was in a pajama onesie. As the being got closer, I could make out their head a bit. They had brown hair that looked darker in the night and had glowing green emerald eyes. The person's hair was long and wavy and her figure was shaped like a woman's. I reached behind me and flicked on the light switch for the doorway. Abbey and I gasped. The woman in front of us was none other then Ms. Boa. For some reason, my head pounded. The girl from before then appeared and had her arms extended in front of us. She wore the same dress as the first time I saw her.

"Delphi..." The girl hissed. "Selene. How are you?" Ms. Boa asked, finally naming the mystery girl. Delphi... Selene couldn't mean the Oracle, could she? "Why Robert, that's exactly what she meant." Ms. Boa, or Delphi replied, as if reading my mind. I gasped. I stumbled backwards with Abbey, also fitting the pieces together. Wendy and Carla looked confused. "You're the Oracle herself, Delphi!" Abbey exclaimed. "Correct. And the girl in front of you is Selene. She is a goddess." Delphi replied, looking at me expectantly. Just like that, I felt like I was thrown from my body. I appeared in a chariot, riding alongside the girl, only a couple years older and looking more tired and weary. I looked over the edge of the chariot and gasped, we were high above the world. I looked to what was flying this chariot and saw two white horse. Both looked as weary as her. You could almost make out the ribcage of both horses. I looked back at Selena and saw that she didn't look too good either.

Her black hair looked dead and her red eyes were dull. The bags under her eyes were noticeable and her dress hung loosely on her unnaturally thin body. Then, we landed on the top of a mountain. The peak was just flat and a large amphitheater from Ancient Greece was on it. When we had come to a halt, one of the horses fell to the ground and was wheezing heavily. She quickly rushed to the horse and began tending to it. A woman walked out of the amphitheater and saw the scene. She rushed towards Selene. The woman had auburn hair and silver eyes, the same eyes as the little girl in my dream. She wore a silver, female toga. "Selene! What has happened? What can I do!?" She asked, starting to tend to the horses. "Become the next moon goddess... ride my chariot, but with your own animals my dear. As you can see, my animals and I grow weary... I am told, your brother has replaced Helios?" Selene asked. The woman nodded, tears forming in her eyes. "Then become my successor. I, Selene, goddess of the moon, Mother of vampires and werewolves, bestow my power of the moon to you, Phoebus Artemis, Lady of the Island Delos." Selene said. Both her and Artemis glowed silver.

Then, as if made of dust, Selene started to break apart and float away in the cool, night breeze. Her horses did the same. I was then slammed back into my body and stumbled back into the wall. I looked at Selene. "You're her... the goddess of the moon!" I yelled in shock. Abbey's head snapped in my direction. Selene tensed. "I am... but that position was given to Artemis a long time ago." She replied. People began moving around upstairs. Selene glared at Delphi. "What did you do to him?" Selene growled like a wild wolf. "Nothing that wasn't already there. All I had to do was give him a little push in the right direction and he became the first male one in centuries." Delphi replied with a devious smirk. "Why you little-!" Selene snarled, lunging at Delphi. Thankfully, now had been the time everyone was awake and downstairs. Lucy used the whip she brought down with her and tied Selene up with it. She then proceeded to drag said goddess back towards us as the goddess struggled in her confines.

"What is going on down here!?" Erza yelled in anger, making all of us jump away from her in fear, except the goddess and Delphi. A dangerous aura was released from her. "Robert." Delphi called. I looked at her and saw her staring straight at me. "Don't let that dream come true. My current Oracle will appear in your dreams soon. Talk to her." Delphi said. Green smoke started to fill the room and surround her body. It wrapped around her like a tentacle until it covered her whole body. When the smoke receded, all that was left was a emerald green python which slithered away to a wall, which it decided to phase through. All of us were quiet, except for the still struggling Selene who began to hiss in pain. "Hello? Mind releasing me! This, what do the gods call it? River of Stars? Is burning my skin!" Selene asked.

"Oh! Right! Sorry!" Lucy said, quickly apologizing as she released the goddess. Selene got up, once released, and stretched her limbs. "Well! I guess we should begin with an explanation from Robert!" Selene said, looking at me expectantly. Same as everyone else. "Would you believe me if I said that I don't know either?" I asked, a nervous smile on my face. "No." All of them said at the same time. I sagged my shoulders in defeat. I gave a defeated sigh and said "Then follow me to a more comfier area. A.K.A my basement." We all went downstairs and sat on the couch. Though before we sat, I pulled out the extra part that makes the couch become a bed. "Okay... So that was the Oracle of Delphi herself." I said. Everyone but Abbey and Selene were confused. "A woman who recites prophecies. Her current Oracle goes by the name of Rachel." Selene explained, catching everyone's attention. Everyone nodded and looked back at me.

"Well," I said, beginning my dream, "I had dreamt about a street, though it looked familiar. The houses and buildings were destroyed and the sky was red. There was no Sun in the sky and black clouds floated. I was being chased by a Cyclops. Just before I was killed by it though, a little girl in a silver parka and animal furs saved me. She had auburn hair and silver eyes while she carried a silver bow and quiver." "That sounds like Artemis." Selene interrupted. "Well, she told me to run. And while running away, I bumped into a man with black hair and red eyes. He was about to kill me, but I had woken up then." I finished. Everyone was silent. "Let's not worry about this now." Erza said. "Yeah!" Lucy said with a yawn. We all then decided to fall asleep down in the basement tonight. Abbey and I slept side by side on the couch while the others slept on the floor. I kissed my girlfriend's forehead and said "Good night." "Good night." she replied.
