Chapter 12: Halloween and Love
Still in October. The 31st.
Damn! Clary did an excellent job on the face paint! I looked in my mirror and regarded my costume. I wore a black cloak and held a fake scythe in my hand. Clary had made my face look like my skin was sucked into my skull. My face was really pale due to the face paint as well. My eyes looked sunken into my head and my cheeks looked hollow. "Robert! Come on! I want to see what happens here in Halloween!" I heard Erza call out. "Coming!" I told them, exiting my room. I walked downstairs and came across my group. It consisted of Me, Erza, Natsu, Lucy, Clary, Jace and Abbey (When she gets here). Erza was dressed as a princess with a stylish pink ball gown and her scarlet hair all wavy. A tiara sat on top of her head. Lucy was dressed as a librarian. Her blonde hair was tied into a tight bun with two pencils in the junction between the bun and her head. She wore beige khakis with her belt holding her key chain around her waist. She wore a flannel shirt and had on some glasses with the lens poked out.
Natsu had on an excited look. He was dressed as a cowboy. From the straw hat, to the flannel shirt, then to the leather pants to finally the boots. Clary and Jace were both in Shadowhunter gear. Jace was looking out the window with curiosity while Clary smiled at us. Right after we got back from school with them, we became friends. Alec, Simon, Izzy and Magnus were at the Toronto Institute, while Jace and Clary stayed with us. "I'm here, calm down." I said with a scowl. They all saw me and jumped a bit. "Jeez! Creepy much?" Lucy said. She hid behind Natsu, who lightly blushed at her antics. I just gave the Fire Dragon Slayer a smirk. Someone has a crush. "A red moon tonight." Jace commented. A red glow tinted the room a bit as it shined through. I frowned. "There wasn't supposed to be a lunar eclipse tonight." I said, pushing past him and out the door.
Upon exiting, I walked to the end of my porch. People were walking around in their costumes and some were scaring others. What made me jump was that there were also monsters hanging around, doing the same thing to an extent. Vampires would jump scare passerby's, who would end up laughing and commenting on their appearance, making them give them a genuine smile. Wolf men would be going up to houses asking for candy, but would give a sad sigh when someone placed chocolate in their baskets. A fairy who was the size of a human was going around, her translucent butterfly wings were lightly flapping. She wore a nice blue dress. A little girl, also dressed as a fairy, stood beside her with an awed expression. She wore a white ball gown and had fake wings. The fairy smiled, ruffled her hair and walked away, slowly becoming a small ball of light and sparkles before flying away.
Seems like that now that my eyes were open to the world, I could see what was never seen before, but the moon was still giving me the creeps. It was blood red. It gave the area an ominous, red glow. "Woah..." I said, walking down the porch. The others followed. "You feel off too, huh?" I heard the voice of Abigail ask. I looked to my right and saw Abigail standing there with an amused smile and her arms crossed. She wore a white dress that was slightly tinted with red. She had on a halo and Angel wings attached to her back. I could feel my face heat up a bit, but my blush was covered by the face paint. I walked up to her with a smirk and said "Yeah. Aren't you stunning." She blushed at the compliment, her glittery make-up reflecting the red moon. She pouted and said "And you ruined your handsome face with that face paint..." My face grew hotter. "What are we gonna do about the Blood Moon? It's obviously ominous." Natsu asked, interrupting our moment.
"Well, in Greece, it was a sign that the gods were angry." Selene said, popping up from nowhere in her night sky dress. "Are the gods angry then?" Erza asked. Clary and Jace looked annoyed, not believing that there were such things as gods. Selene was about to answer when a more masculine voice answered for her. "Correct." They said. We all spun around when we heard people collapse and monster starting to run away. Standing there was a man with a kind smile and bright yellow eyes. He seemed to be in his mid-forties and wore a black suit. He had slightly tanned skin and was about 6'6". "Who are you?" I asked, gripping my fake scythe. Erza held a sword in her hand and had it pointed at the man. "My name is Ra. Egyptian God of the Sun and Flames." He said. I felt my body run cold and I bowed to the god before me. "L-Lord Ra. It-It is an honor." I stuttered. "Robert? What are you doing?" Jace asked. "We are standing in front of a god you dimwit. King of the Egyptian gods." I stated.
Ra laughed. "Rise young hero. While it is customary to bow to a king, it doesn't mean the king loves being bowed to." He said. I slowly got up and looked at him. "L-Lord Ra! H-How are you?" Selene stuttered. Ra just glanced at her then back to me. "Why are they angry, Lord Ra?" Abigail asked. "Almost all of the gods have been captured. The only ones on Olympus are Zeus, Hera, and Athena. For the Egyptians, almost all of us have been captured or turned." The god stated. That made my blood run cold again. "But that would mean..." I started saying. "That the balance of the world is being broken." Abigail finished. "Correct. Young heroes. Your destiny has you helping the gods in their endeavors to fix this broken world." Ra said. "But Lord Ra, they are but mere adolescents." Selene commented. I snapped my head towards her and glared. "And yet, The Hero of Olympus started his journey at the age of 12 and the Pharaoh is 15 years old." Ra fired back. Selene just huffed and looked away.
"What gods should we look out for?" Natsu asked. I looked Ra straight in the eye and pain shot through my head. I gasped and was thrown out of my body. The scenery changed until I was back in Rachel's cave. Said girl looked to be rushing. She was packing her bags and putting everything into a suitcase. "Rachel?" I questioned. She jumped and turned around. Her eyes held dark bags under them. "Robert. Thank the gods." She said, rushing to me and throwing her arms around my spirit. I wrapped mine around her as well. This whole being a spirit is still weird, like why am I touching a living thing? "What's the rush?" I asked. "Apollo stopped all contact with me just recently. So, I'm heading to your place. Hecate is waiting for me in the forest so she can transport me." She said. "What? But this is where most of the fighting is happening." I informed her.
She rushed over to one of her covered paintings and ripped off the sheet. It was of a blood red moon, high in the sky. The moon almost looked like a read eye, gazing down on the mortal land. Under the gaze of the red moon was loads of monsters. The monsters were surrounding a cage. In the cage was a blonde-haired man, with golden yellow eyes. He wore a bright colored shirt and orange shorts. Beside him was a woman with brown hair and red, angry eyes. She wore a brown dress and in front of her were rusty scales. The left side had a scale hanging loosely by one of the wires, while the right side had a scale broken straight in half, both pieces hanging limp from their wires. Both of them were in the middle of a forest, next to a familiar tree. "Apollo and Nemesis are captured there, so I'm going to help them." Rachel stated. I nodded, looking at the painting. "I'll meet you there then. Have to have Apollo know of my existence soon." I told her.
Rachel was about to say something before a familiar voice called. "Rachel!" They called. "Shit!" Rachel hissed, moving too quickly cover the picture. I stepped into the shadows, making my presence unknown. Percy walked into the cave, Annabeth right beside him. "Who were you talking to?" Annabeth asked, getting straight to the point. Rachel faked confusion. "I was talking to someone?" She asked. She was acting too innocently. "Where are you going?" Percy asked, looking around. "Up North. Dad wants me to come with him to Ontario for a business meeting." Rachel lied. I glanced at the covered painting and saw the white sheet slowly falling off. "No!" I shouted, running out of the shadows and towards the covered painting. This got everyone's attention. When I stopped and reached for it, it went through me and a gust of wind made all the covers fall off the paintings.
Annabeth gave a horrified gasp. Percy and her were looking at the pictures with horrified fascination. Taking the opportunity, Rachel grabbed my hand and her suitcase, now securely closed, and ran with me towards the forest. "Quickly! I'll meet you there!" Rachel yelled. We heard Annabeth and Percy call her name. Then like that, I found myself back in my body. I gasped and hunched over. "Robert?" I heard Abigail ask. "Young Dragon Slayer?" Ra questioned. That tree... the forest! "Bye guys!" I told them, running off. "Wa- Robert!?" They called after me. My scythe glowed until it gained a Celestial Bronze blade and I felt only a chain banging against my chest. I ran all the way to the forest entrance. The red moon making the shadows tinted blood red. I ran in and was immediately attacked by a monster. It was a big pale worm-like creature. It lunged at me, so I brought my scythe forward and sliced it in half. It gave a horrified screech before going silent. I continued forward. I fought many demons and monsters along the way.
While I moved cautiously through the forest, I could hear hisses from snakes all along the ground. That's when something wrapped around my legs, making me collapse face first into the ground. It wrapped around me more until I felt my legs and arms wrapped together. It began to drag me further into the forest. "Let me go!" I yelled, struggling. It ignored me and dragged me into a clearing. A large cage stood there with the god and goddess noticing my approach. Apollo stood up and Nemesis clutched the bars. The snake stopped and unwrapped me, but I couldn't go anywhere because someone grabbed me from my collar and threw me into the cage after opening the door. He closed it as I landed on the cold metal floor with a groan. "My my... what have we here?" Asked a masculine voice. I looked up at the voice and saw red snake eyes staring straight at me. A massive, dark green king cobra sat in front of the cage, staring at me intently.
"A young mortal? Awake too... Aren't you... sssspecial." It hissed, sounding amused. "A mortal? Why are you here?" Apollo asked. I stared at the snake while it stared back, its tongue flicking out once and a while. "Wh-Where am I? W-What's going on?" I asked, acting confused and scared. "Let the boy go. He has done nothing." Nemesis told the snake. "No. He will be an excellent example." The snake said. The cage opened and an anaconda slithered in and wrapped me up again. It dragged me out and a demon slammed the door closed. That's when I felt the anaconda wrapping me up tighter. "No!" Apollo yelled, rushing forward and holding onto the bars. "Then help ussss. Turn your back on Zeussss. He was alwaysss mean to you, your sssissster becoming the favorite child. And you, Nemesssisss. He treated all you minor gods like wassste of ssspace. Help usss, and we will rule the world." The snake said. "Help! I-I can't breathe!" I wheezed, feeling the air leave my body.
"Quickly. It ssseemsss that he doesssn't have that long left." The snake explained. I started choking now, words escaping me, black spots doting the red scene. Apollo and Nemesis were looking conflicted. That's when a flying blue hair brush came and hit the Cobra in the eye. The Cobra yelled in pain, resulting in the anaconda to loosen its hold on me. I gasped as air came rushing back into my lungs. "Who daresss throw something at Apophisss!? God of Chaosss and Sssnakesss!?" The Cobra questioned in anger. One of its eyes were closed and the other looked around, glaring. Apollo looked at the brush in realization. "The Oracle of Delphi dares! That's who!" Yelled Rachel as she walked out of the trees. Apophis hissed. "You have the audacity to attack me!? I can devour you whole!" He hissed. "Ancient Laws-" "Don't work on me! I am from the beginning of time itssself! I was created from the Sssea of Chaosss!" He interrupted Rachel. Rachel gulped and looked at me.
I sighed and said "Aw man! Now I have to show myself! Dark Dragon Scratch!" My hand became encased in darkness and I dug it into the snake. It let go of me quickly and writhed on the ground. As I got up, I glanced at my hand. Around my normal hand was a dragon claw made out of darkness. I grinned and glanced at a shell-shocked Nemesis and Apollo. Apophis shock with anger. "You are a Dragon Slayer!? How is that possible!? All the Dragons are either dead or vanished!" He hissed, anger evident in his voice. I just shrugged. "Yeah, well you're ugly. You don't see me complaining." I shot back with an emotionless look. All at once, the Cobra launched itself at me. I didn't move out of the way though. "Robert!" Rachel yelled. Then an arrow of light went through the trees and impaled the snake. It sailed past me and writhed on the ground before exploding into sand. Abigail walked into the clearing annoyed and carrying a bow made of light. "You could have told me you were going to be dealing with demons and monsters." She said.
I shrugged with a grin. "I knew you would follow me." I told her. "And if I didn't?" She questioned, walking to the cage and helping Rachel open it. I smirked. "You would have gone against your wishes to follow me in the end." I told her. She looked at me over her shoulder and rolled her eyes. I heard chanting coming from the others as they used their magic. Clary and Jace ran into the clearing and slowed down. "This forest is crawling with demons and monsters! They never stop coming!" Clary said, sounding exhausted. "Where's Ra?" I asked. "He flashed out, said something about dealing with Zeus and telling him to calm down." Jace said, turning in a circle and cutting off the head of the demon sneaking up on him from behind. It was hard knowing if one of us was hurt though, the Blood Moon tinting the area in crimson red.
"Ugh! It won't budge! It's as if the whole cage was made to keep powerful beings in and powerful beings out!" Rachel huffed with annoyance. "It's magic Rachel. A mage with black hair and black eyes enchanted the cage. He made it so that even dragons couldn't break it." Apollo told the Oracle. I gained a headache all of a sudden and green mist, its green shine opposing the red, rolled in. I was thrown from my body and found myself in Camp Half-Blood again. Percy and Annabeth were talking to Chiron in Rachel's cave, showing him the pictures. "Don't you see Chiron? Rachel has been hiding something from us. And it has something to do with that half-dragon guy!" Annabeth told the Centaur. "Hmm..." Chiron hummed, looking at a particular picture. It was a behind profile of me. It was me in my costume, my Celestial Bronze scythe extended and me looking over my shoulder with a dangerous gaze. All around me were demons disintegrating and a Blood Red Moon.
Chiron glanced outside the cave and saw the Blood Moon. His eyes widened. "She's there. With the Half-Dragon. Up north." Chiron said, walking towards the entrance of the cave, staring intently at the moon. "What? But what if he attacks her?" Percy asked, sounding worried. "Loyalty." I said, making them aware of my presence. Annabeth, Percy, and Chiron got their weapons out and pointed at me. "The quality of being loyal to someone or something." I stated. "The definition of Loyalty." Annabeth said. "Correct. Though, it is a blessing, but also, a curse." I explained, walking into view. I looked down at myself and found that I looked like my regular self. I looked back up at them to see that they didn't recognize me. I smirked. "Aww... don't remember me? The dragon?" I asked. Annabeth's eyes grew wide. She then threw a dagger at me, but it passed through me and hit the wall behind me.
I grew offended and said "Wow. Rude." I told her. "That should have killed you! Even if you were a ghost!" Annabeth said, her voice filled with disbelief. "Hubris. Deadly Pride. Excessive pride or self-confidence." I stated. Annabeth paled. "Your figuring out our fatal flaws..." She said. I snorted. "Unintentionally. Still wondering why I'm here though. I was enjoying a good Halloween when I'm told that two gods needed saving and that my trainer was going to arrive at my home territory soon." I explained. Percy pressed something on his sword and it turned into a pen. "What are you?" Percy asked, walking towards me, carefully. "Perseus." Chiron warned. "I got this..." He told the Centaur. I looked at the demigod, confused. "What do you mean?" I asked. "What are you? Human or something else?" He questioned.
I looked into his swirling sea green eyes. "Human. Always have been. Always will be." I told him, getting up into his face. "Why are you here?" Percy asked. "Percy..." Annabeth warned, getting her sword ready. I clicked my teeth and said "Ask Delphi. Oh wait! She isn't here right now." "That is correct. You currently have our Oracle." Chiron stated. That's when I gasped in pain. Green smoke started rolling in, causing Annabeth and Percy to freak out. Chiron looked startled. "Snake of Chaos and Lord of time, have appeared in their prime." I chanted. I looked at a painting of a Large Snake and a golden eyed man. I could hear their laughter through the smoke. And from the way both the demigods and Centaur jumped, they did too. "That laugh..." Percy said, paling. "While his friends and allies rise, The General of Dragon dies." I said, walking to a new picture. This one was of me, coughing up blood, a familiar cup in front of me.
Lilith's laugh echoed throughout the cavern. As well as Abbey's sobbing. That brought a tear to my eyes. "To Half-Bloods he looks mortal, though he is so powerful he can create a portal, to another dimension filled with beasts of the sky that are immortal." I said. I faced them and saw the green smoke vanish. "A Prophecy." Annabeth said, looking pale. Then, the scene changed and I was looking at the red night sky. I gasped and shot upwards. I saw everyone surrounding me, along with the two gods. "Are you okay?" Abigail asked. Do I tell her... I gave a fake smile and said "I'm fine."
