1.16 - Punishment
I don't know the reason why I become this weak whenever it comes to arguing.
Like if it was possible for Jungkook to jump out from the phone, he would have done that for sure— kicked and punched me so hard when I told him about about yesterday's events.
I don't know how he came to know about the incident— all of us finalized about not telling anyone and disclose it once we return back to the organization but the second Namjoon's call arrived in the middle of night, I knew he has already gotten the news.
Basically, he was fuming. All of the growls and anger penetrating his words silenced me for the whole time. He was totally out of his control and the worse was Jungkook hearing the first word of my sentence— he started hyperventilating over how I could have almost died and it is all thanks to Gyong for sparing me.
Like he literally is the reason behind the trouble.
Jin was over the top— he literally screamed his throat out that I feared if his thyroid gland has destroyed. Reminding me of my promises to stay away from wounds to every major injury that I have suffered from— he didn't forget about leaving anything behind.
All scoldings and anger was bursted on Jimin too, even when the boy isn't at fault.
As for Taehyung and Miyeon, both of them are instantly called back, including me too.
I actually don't think Namjoon in any way will spare me from his punishment because according to his brain, if I knew that it is a code red then I should have taken Jimin or any other agent with me.
I could have called for emergency back up too.
And to be very honest, I never tried to think about such options. My mind was already focused on saving Taehyung and Miyeon that my instant response was to chase them.
Now that I think about it, I will never call backup if such a situation is repeated in the future. Without knowing the intensity of danger, how can I cause a mess for no reason?
But who knew the one and only Gyong returned back and now is doing all the deeds that can actually be fatal for the organization.
Everything apart, what Gyong want is a fight between us so I don't want any other person to sacrifice their life for me.
"You both know what exactly wrong happened there which is not worthy of forgiveness right?"
Namjoon clenches his teeth which I can sense from a distance— the gritting sound is enough to inform me.
"Looking around when given the order to settle down in the tents. Does this look like a game? Especially Miyeon," Namjoon faces the girl who is on the verge of crying.
"Senior is someone who protects, not who seeks shelter behind the juniors, am I right?"
Silence.
"Yes or no."
Namjoon hits the table as everything on the table flies away. Taehyung flinches and Miyeon does too, I mean she should be habitual by now, like me.
"Y-yes sir."
She sobs, Namjoon shuts his eyes in anger. Through his face, our senior is trying his best to control his rage but knowing him, controlling his emotions especially anger is beyond his ability.
"Sir, can I?" Taehyung starts which clearly looks like he is going to defend themselves. Namjoon sends a sharp glare at the younger boy as he shuts his mouth immediately.
But even without his consent, Taehyung starts his defending words.
"It is not Miyeon's fault, it is actually mine-"
And.. hold up.
"Sorry for the interruption but being a senior, I will tell the truth."
Everyone's eyes shifts towards me as I clear my throat.
"No one is at fault here, except me. I was the one who disappeared in order to calm myself down. Even before our journey started, I was feeling quite unwell. Thinking it will loosen me up, I walked away and in order to find me, Taehyung and Miyeon started a search for me."
"And sadly, no one expected Gyong to be there with his mind set on his fighting mode."
"Gyong?"
Namjoon's face shifts uncomfortably as I nod.
"Yes, he is back."
But Namjoon casually shifts the topic.
"It doesn't matter if you are asking for forgiveness or not, the decision will be given according to the rules."
Miyeon lets out a loud sob at Namjoon's response as Taehyung bites his lower lip roughly.
Namjoon shakes his head in disappointment as getting up from his seat, he walks towards his bookshelf where a number of books— approximately 500 are arranged in quite a pleasant and systematic way.
I know because I have arranged them several times already— a personal punishment from Namjoon to get hurt or sick during a mission.
They should rather get habitual of my nature and wrong decisions. Always giving me such punishments and scolding will result in nothing but a waste of time for both the parties.
"Taehyung, expulsion for 1 week and Miyeon, no appraisal forms provided this year."
Is it bad to say I am happy right now?
No appraisal form given to her means she won't be filling in her achievements and special tasks she did this year which ultimately means no promotion for her. But Taehyung's penalty is saddening.
"As for you Ms. Jeon," Namjoon calls my name in a rather dramatic manner which brings me back to reality.
"I know you protected your colleagues but still, it is something that you did against the rules. Punishment for you too," He elaborates. "Expulsion for 2 weeks."
"That long!?"
Everyone flinches because of my sudden outburst but I don't care. Staying home for whole 2 weeks means my work gets slower and my fitness— actually everything will lower down to their worst level.
"Yes, you all are dismissed," He shakes his hand to tell us to get out but I don't budge. No way, I need to lure him to lessen the duration of my castigation.
He glances at me from the tip of his head. "What?"
"This expulsion-cum-vacation will be the cause of my downfall in work and every single field."
I am practically blaming him for taking such a bad decision without considering but he scoffs, jokingly enough as I release a scoff.
"You have been working since years, tell me when was the last time you visited your home?"
"Like I want to," I mumble out.
"It is an another thing that you don't want to but seriously, tell me," Namjoon pushes.
"May be.. last week? I mean not like for days but a day or-"
Namjoon jumps off his seat and practically runs towards me.
"That is the point! You don't understand how important it is for agents like you, to rest. Guess you need to learn it now."
He waves his hand indicating that it is the end of discussion now as I grumble and walk out of the room.
Taehyung and me, both of our faces are upside down while Miyeon is comparatively happier as she is consoling the saddened boy.
I sigh out while looking down and take slow steps towards my room in order to pack my bags for the upcoming days which I have to spend all alone in my penthouse.
I know it is cool and peaceful but seriously though, I do need someone to accompany me. It looks like a horror place when I spend my night, all alone while being tucked inside my bed.
It has been years since I last visited my penthouse, and so with Jungkook. Since then I always spend my night at Jimin's place whenever we return for one-day holiday.
It is all fun when someone is waiting for your arrival and dreading to spend some time with you, not always you find it fun to live alone on your own. This is one of the many reason why I never went home since 5 years meaning just when I started being an agent at the mere age of 13.
And the penthouse, it is my parents that is now empty as nothing is left there expect their clothes, some of their belongings and my room too, is almost empty.
"Goeun!" A gentle hand grips my wrist as I slowly turn around, only to see bewildered Taehyung.
"Where will you go?"
"Of course my house, where else?"
And like just in time, Miyeon arrives and pushes me and Taehyung away from each other.
"Can't you force Namjoon to forgive Taehyung-"
"I can't and I won't even try. It is quite difficult to convince him in such situations."
"So sad," She makes or tries making a sad face which almost welcomes a scoff on my face.
Taehyung's eyebrows quivers at me.
"Yeah, I mean Daegu."
"So you mean everything will be the same?" Taehyung asks, a little hesitant to hear my response that according to him, has equal probability of being both positive or negative.
I nod and give out a smile.
Guess Taehyung doesn't know about the aftermath of becoming an agent.
"I know you must be thinking that our existence kind of wipes off everyone's life but what they don't know is about you being an agent as it is super official, it can't be leaked. So everyone thinks that you went away for studying, like a foreign exchange student."
"So you mean my mom and dad will still recognise me?" He asks, still a little hesitance prominent in his voice.
May be is scared if his parents still remember him?
"100% with my surety."
Sending him a thumbs up, the second that small smile appears on his face that is so genuine that I barely control a giggle to come out. I mean did he seriously think that our existence wipes off from everyone's brain?
"So.." He mutters as I nod, all ready to answer the next set of questions that he is going to throw at me but his 'so' continues for quite a few seconds that I raise my eyebrow at him.
"So..?"
"..what now?"
He folds his hands against his chest.
"Pack your bags, we are going back home with the regular train to Daegu which leaves in.. in a while, may be?"
He nods and sprints towards his room, leaving me and Miyeon behind.
She shakes his head while smiling, her eyes still locked in Taehyung's direction but once she realizes that I still am standing there and watching her expressions changing, she sends me a fake smile too and follows Taehyung.
This is surely going to be a tiring job.
