1.12 - Work Trip

All my better times are the ones spent with you.

■•●•■

It has been days since I got up from the bed and successfully am moving around the building.

Basically, I am back to work.

Practice and a lot of practice— that is all that includes my routine these days.

I am ready for missions too, even though Namjoon and Jin scolds me a lot about how careless I am and when I give Eun's reason, they scold me even more saying Eun is a part of me after all.

Okay, it is my fault.

Indirectly, it is mine.

Now talking about Taehyung, the last time we talked was when I woke up. After that I have noticed that he is tagging along more with Miyeon and her group of friends. He surprisingly found his ex-classmates too so he is overjoyed, I don't blame him though.

So as usual, I am walking alone in the lounge area, checking if everything is alright or if someone needs my help.

Everyone is right in their places— officers are working on the computers, agents moving around in order to get ready for their assigned mission, people discussing over strategies— chaos like usual.

And my instinct is to go to the rooftop— a place where silence is always maintained and someone rarely visits in a month or two. It is not the very first place someone can think of to go in their relaxation time, they will rather go to their rooms and have a good sleep of 2 to 4 hours.

Walking towards the rooftop with light steps, I pause once I catch the familiar back of a person who is laughing around a group of people.

Taehyung is facing Miyeon with an invisible shield in his hand as Miyeon chuckles and praises him for his posture. I don't blame her, he looks so manly while standing like that, even I can melt if I stand in front of him.

Continue your walk Goeun.

I shake my head and head straight towards the rooftop. Glancing at the potted flowers and butterflies flying around gives me solace, I can't ask anything more than the peace I find here.

Finding my usual bench and settling myself on it, I immediately close my eyes reviving the feeling.

It's been so long since I visited here, feels like a year has passed already.

"Excuse me? Am I interrupting your alone time?"

Taehyung's voice rings inside my ear as I instantly open my eyes to see him standing in front of me with a large packet of crisps in his hand. I shake my head and smile.

"No, just wanted to visit here, nothing else."

He nods while popping one in his mouth and occupies the seat beside me.

"You like it here?"

"Yeah, it's so peaceful," I confess. "It actually feels like-"

But suddenly the high pitched ringtone interrupts my sentence as Taehyung apologizes and picks up his call.

"Yeah, she is with me. We will be right there," Replying, he hangs up the call and looks up at me.

"Mr. Kim called right?"

"He called for a meeting and no one was able to contact you. They asked to find you first."

"But my phone is with me!" I respond as my hands ducks inside my pant pockets, taking out a black sparkling phone in my hand. But when I open it's lock, the company's name appears on the screen.

"Quite dead I see there," He taunts as my cheeks burns up in embarrassment. And here I was overconfident.

What is the use of a cellphone when all you remember is taking it with you everytime without looking at it's battery percentage.

"It is okay, come on now," He gets up first and offers his hand out towards me. I hesitate a little but finally raise mine too, intertwining as a result.

"You both are," Namjoon peeps down at his wrist watch and glances up at us dramatically enough which leads me to let out an unnoticeable chuckle. "3 minutes 38 seconds late, any specific reason?" He raises his eyebrow at me, probably noticing my so-called unnoticeable chuckle.

Deep shit, Goeun.

At the corner of the room, I feel Gyuri giggling around as I glare at her even when I am not able to see that girl.

"I hope this is not something you both will repeat in the coming future, is that clear?" He commands as me and Taehyung bows and join our respective groups.

"I am going to tell you something that I never thought will happen this soon, but well everything comes uncalled for right?" Namjoon smiles and stands up from his seat.

"A mission, of course and time of departure is 2 hours from now."

All I hear is everyone's loud groans. Namjoon slaps his hands on his office table, silencing everyone in an instant— same as teachers do with the hyperactive school children.

"But I never asked for a reaction."

Looking down at his documents, he positions his spectacles over his nose and coughs a little. "It is not like normal missions you go to, infact it is like a trip."

Trip.

Just after that everyone cheers as Namjoon frowns and again slaps his hands on his table. "Are you all school children or something?" He scolds.

"Practice your skills in the nature and check out the villages. I heard a number of rumours are being circulated there and I don't know if they are true or not so ensure everyone's safety as well. After returning back, you guys need to submit the report individually, no groups or partners."

"1 week tour with no modern facilities, you all need to survive yourself there. Let's meet after exact 1 week, dismissed."

Just when he says the word 'dismissed', everyone practically makes a run towards the door.

Need to pack our bags for 1 week trip.

"What are you going to pack?" Jimin asks as he throws his arm around my shoulder. I elbow him in the stomach but there is no impact on him of my gesture. "Necessities only, of course."

"Your type of necessities include," His expressions turns into a spruce look as I instantly get the idea of exactly what he is talking about.

"I am quite a good girl so thank you so much, Park Jimin."

"Meet me outside your room in one and a half hour, dismissed!" He reenacts the scene like Namjoon, making us guffaw.

"Summer dress or not?" Boram clicks his fingers with a sly expression as I flick her head while pursing my lips. "Are you going there for fun or work?"

"Seriously! Then what is the use even!" She whines as Dohee shakes her head disappointingly. "Meet you guys later then!" And she grabs her sister from her arm and forcefully takes her to pack.

"Just necessities alright?" I jokingly turn to Gyuri and eye her. She rolls her eyes playfully and punches me in my stomach making me laugh and wave my hand.

"Later."

"Everything's set?" Jimin settles the last suitcase in the bus and dusts his hands off.

"Ah, I am tired."

"Sure, by holding your own 5 suitcases. For god's sake it is just 1 week work tour Jimin."

"Let's get in," He diverts the topic and enters the boiling bus. As I take a step in, my whole body gets covered in goosebumps.

"It is too hot in here!"

"What do you expect then? Snow is it?" He taunts. As soon as I turn my back towards him in order to exit the bus, he shouts loudly. "Now come here and sit, I won't reserve your seat."

"Don't then!" I shout back. "I can sit in the other bus too, you know."

"There is no other bus Goeun," He sends me a smug smile. "Either way you will have to return back here, no option," Resting his legs on the opposite seat, he folds his hands against his chest and looks out of the window with his uncontrollable smile. The black shades he is wearing are adding more spice to the scene.

"Ugh," I groan and make my way towards him. Kicking his legs down harshly, I settle down on the seat and take my phone out for the rest of the time.

But once we hear other agents entering the bus, I place my phone in my side pocket. Gyuri comes running towards me and taps my shoulder, I turn my head towards her and smile widely.

"You want to sit with me?"

But she straightforwardly shakes her head, making me frown. As her hand moves with her index finger aiming at Jimin, I understand exactly she means by that.

She wants to sit with him, not me.

Wow.

It doesn't take a second for me to get up and occupy the seat opposite to that of Jimin's. Looking back at him, he welcomes Gyuri with a wide smile plastered on his face and it doesn't take them more than a seconds to start a conversation.

Lucky, so darn lucky.

I exhale sharply and take my mobile and earphones out of my pocket. At least they are going to stay the same no matter how the others change.

Plugging it in, I start the very first song on my playlist and blasting it on the top volume, my eyes wander outside the window of the bus. And what catches my eye is Miyeon laughing in the front of the bus as Taehyung appears in my vision. Casually looking around, once he locates my presence his legs themselves starts heading towards my direction.

At least he is there. Guess I won't be alone.

But he is jerked back by Miyeon as she forces him by her side— both of them are now sitting on the same seat. I can practically throw radiations towards her which can separate her from Taehyung in a second.

Sadly, I am not a radioactive element.

Gyuri and Jimin, Boram and Dohee, Taehyung and Miyeon, me and my phone; this is how the partners are divided, I guess.

Namjoon enters the bus and claps his hands to gather everyone's attention towards him. The engine of the bus starts as everyone quietens down for a few minutes.

"Hope you all have a safe trip. Don't invite any useless problem and work hard there, this is not a picnic, a work tour. Alright?" Namjoon instructs resulting in everyone's agreement.

These instructions are unnecessary to be honest. Everyone's going to do whatever they want to and I bet no one's going to take this seriously until and unless a superior like Namjoon himself joins us.

As the bus starts moving, I close my eyes finalising to open them once we arrive at the outskirts of city.

But as soon as I feel the particular creepy feeling crawling up my soul, I shiver and gasp and jerk on my seat when I feel the painful contractions clenching my body with it's sharp paws.

Thankfully, my unusual movements are not noticed by anyone around me as I retract back onto my seat while huffing out the air.

What just happened?

Is it just my body not functioning properly or is something else the matter?

Cold sweat beads starts forming on my forehead making me somewhat dizzy and I hate this feeling of being out of my own control— main reason why I don't like alcohol. It makes me lose my control which leads me to get frustrated everytime.

I just close my eyes and now the only method of returning back to proper functioning is sleep, I hope it helps me to get healthy.

Going to another place with such a dysfunctional body is actually working me up. Overthinking is my worst enemy and right now it is exactly what I am doing too.

I don't think telling Jimin about my health this soon is good, may be it is just for a couple of hours? There is no use of worrying him unnecessarily.

I hope everything goes on smoothly.

Because if it doesn't, then I don't know what I will do next.
