chapter 8
You were seated on the back, your head leaning against the window as your eyes were focused on your phone. Nothing was exactly happening as of the moment, aside from the chatters of the two males in front of you.
Stalking the Killer just updated and you couldn't let the opportunity of reading it slip away past your grasps. After all, you guys were doing absolutely nothing and it wasn't wrong to delve into your own endeavours until something happens, right?
So here you were, hand cupping your mouth as your eyes hungrily scanned through the page's contents, refraining yourself from screaming due to how intense the current chapter was. Good bless the author for making a masterpiece.
"Y/n? Are you doing alright back there?" Kambe asked you as he seemed to be concern if you were comfortable in your current position. Yet seeing you so flustered over what he guessed to be were your comics made a furrow just in-between his brows.
"I'm feeling fine, jovial, elated, so shoo, my fiance," you said the last part just to sway him off your tail. You were surprised that it worked, since he looked like he was so contented but you couldn't let yourself linger on that since there were much more important matters at hand.
After a few moments, you felt quite surprised the moment someone entered and sat through the passenger's seat. With your gut telling you that this was the time to put your gadget away, you willed yourself to place your tech back into your dress' pockets.
Yes, you read it right. P o c k e t s.
Once Kambe asked for this man's identity, the newcomer wasted no time introducing himself. "I'm Mita from Weekly Bunshu," soon stating how he was now a freelancer and how he was the one behind the exposing of a few well-known people's wrongdoings.
"Thank you, but may I ask why are you providing us your assistance?" You tilted your head, questioning the meaning behind his act of helping you three. The moment he had a glimpse of your face, it was obvious that he became quite flustered because someone good-looking was suddenly talking to him.
Yet once he felt people glaring daggers at him, especially the man in the suit, he tried to push those feelings down. He soon answered your query, stating that it was because of Haru and how he was willing to do anything he asks of him, leaving the latter to feel quite smug because of Mita's words.
.
.
"Tasty!" You exclaimed once you gulped down the noodles. "You've never had one before?" Haru asked out of curiosity. You nodded, before replying with, "Yes! It seems this is Daisuke's first time as well." The mentioned man nodded his head as he continued chowing down on his food.
"He's here!" Mita yelled, pointing his chopsticks towards the man that had just left the establishment along with a few other woman. "Oh, that's the man we're looking for," you commented as you squinted your eyes towards where Mita pointed at. After this, you were sure to buy contacts and even prescription glasses.
.
.
You were now holding Mita's camera, skimming through each pictures of the man in question. "He sure is active, huh?" You mused, and the freelancer nodded. "He's had about ten different people in his apartment," came his notes.
Three girls soon came into view. "Are those girls from Millenium Entertainment?" Haru asked, while the cameraman answered if Haru was pointing towards one specific girl.
"Though, Mr. Kato, don't you prefer innocent-looking girls?" Mita asked. Haru's eyes flitted towards you for a moment before finally focusing on the woman the reporter described.
She was pretty, hella gorgeous even. And you could tell that even with your shitty vision. Yet even though she looks spectacularly beautiful, you couldn't help but notice the similarities between her and the man whom you're soon going to be wedded with.
What are the odds?
.
.
"W-What?" Haru stuttered, hands quivering for he was not that used to seeing public indecency. "Mr. Kato, you're too innocent," Mita pointed out as he glanced at the man who was looking at the scene in clear disbelief.
"Shut up."
If a few moments ago you were seated with the previously mentioned man, nor, you were right beside Kambe. "Can you see well? I can let you borrow my spectacles," Kambe offered you as he saw you narrowing your eyes to the point of beyond comprehension.
As much as you wanted to deny his help, you couldn't help but eventually give in.
"If... If it's alright with you," and even though you were okay with accepting his assistance, your pride took much of the blow as you stammered to even get the sentence out of your system.
"Okay, let's catch them red-handed," Haru spoke, ready to leave the car and apprehend the two who were currently having a transaction that was being captured by Mita's camera.
"No, that'd bring us more cons than the pros," you immediately denied his not well-thought proposition. "Like what she'd said, let him go for now." And as soon as Haru was ready to just jump out of the car, Kambe firmly stopped him.
"Isezaki is selling drugs of 95% purity. Let him go so we can catch whomever is backing him," and now was the proudest that you've ever been with your man. Seriously, he said that with so much certainty that you were forced to believe that whatever he was saying was true.
Even though Haru just wanted to remove this despicable man's hold in him, with so many people opposing his earlier thoughts, he decided to just remain calm. After all, you also did technically tell him not to act so rash so he could just make himself believe that it wasn't this man who he was following but you instead.
.
.
Haru was keeping such an eye on that Niizaki that you couldn't help but be worried about his health, including his hygiene.
So there you sat on the bed of your shared room with Kambe on this five star hotel that he checked you two in. At first, you greatly opposed, but he pointed out that:
1. You two were soon going to get married so it's better that you've become accustomed to it.
and 2. So that you could somehow overcome your immense dislike of his presence. And you would be able to achieve such results if you were to be in the same vicinity as him in an extended amount of time.
Heaving out a sigh, you crossed your legs as you stared at the huge glass pane windows that overlooked the entire city. The view was so lovely yet you were feeling so restless that you weren't able to entirely relax.
"What exactly is it that you're thinking about?" Daisuke asked, now only clothed with a new button-up and loose slacks as he just finished showering right after you.
"I'm concerned about Haru. He's so intent on catching that man that he's forgetting to take care of himself..." You voiced out your thoughts. His movements were so quick and stealthy that you only realized that he was in front of you when his other hand was placed right beside your right hand and his free hand tilting your chin to face his direction.
Your e/c orbs clashed with his and only now were you able to see how conflicted he looks. "I'm here with you yet you're thinking of another man. Should I feel envious of him?" And you couldn't reply,
because how could you when he landed a kiss on your lips?
