chapter 10
Bodies flushed against each other, breathing ragged as the two copulated.
It wasn't romantic in any sense of the word, with you just engaging in the act with him due to him initiating it. What good would denying it be if you would also get something in the end?
"I love you," Kambe grunted, too lost in the feeling of euphoria to even be aware of what his mouth was saying.
"...We'll get there," you replied.
This was something that was done because of the desire to satisfy yourselves, not because you two actually held feelings for each other. You weren't sure if that was the case for Daisuke, but you were certain that it was for you.
But why?
Why did you feel compelled to return those three words?
.
.
After everything, you still couldn't forget what your fiance had said to you while you stood inside the helicopter you were on, watching the whole place beneath you increasingly being encapsulated with toxic gas. You were still feeling quite conflicted whether you still harbored some negative feelings for him or if it had dissipated the longer you two spent time together.
The only reason why you resented him was because of your parents deciding your future by marrying you off to him. You wanted to be betrothed to someone whom you really loved, whom you wouldn't mind spending the entirety of your life with.
While he had no choice and was just agreeing to whatever it was that was placed on a plate before him, you were still young and naive back then that you started to hate him without any valid reason at all. And up 'til now, you were still holding that childish grudge against him.
But were you ready to see him in a brand new light after all the things that happened between you two?
Probably. You wouldn't deny that the bitterness was slowly morphing into an attraction for him. He had no flaws. aside him being completely powerless without money. But taking other things into consideration, he was a man whom every girl would dream to be with. He was handsome, he had power, and most importantly, he was cartwheeling in money.
Ack! Why did romance have to be so difficult and complex? Your head was aching the more you thought about it.
Once the whole fiasco was done, Suzue had insisted for you to stay the night in their mansion. Though you wanted to refuse at first, your attempts to turn down the offer were unavailing. Seriously, who could say no to that face? Not you, so you agreed, but just this once.
Daisuke was... Daisuke was snubbing you. That was to be expected. After all, he did say some things in bed that anyone would be embarrassed of once their mind had been cleared of the afterglow. It wasn't like it's affecting you, but it did make you feel a wee bit uncomfortable since you were so used to him making your life a living hell.
With your eyes closed, your body laid flat against the plump bedding of the mattress of the king-sized bed of the room that one of the maids had ushered you in. You appreciated the Kambe's hospitality but wasn't this too big of a room too much for someone like you? The room was beautiful, though. It wasn't heavily furnished, maintaining a minimalistic look that you preferred over an overly-decorated one.
The door creaked, and in entered the man that had been plaguing your thoughts. Why didn't he knock first? It's a common courtesy for people to bump their fists in a door first, so why didn't he? Was it because that you were his fiance that he thought that it would be okay to enter the room without any sort of warning first?
He seemed surprised at first when he saw you, causing more questions to erupt in your mind but you just brushed it off. He sat on one of the couches available in this humongous room. Yes, this was his house, but what a way to truly make himself feel at home inside someone else's room.
"I thought you're at your own estate already," he was the first to break the ice. "Your lovely sister told me that I should sleep-over here so I agreed. Do you know how hard it is to say 'no' to her?" You didn't move an inch nor did you try to flutter your eyes open.
"I see."
... Dead air.
This was becoming discomfiting rather quickly. Perhaps you should be the bigger man and shatter the hushness?
"Hey, Daisuke."
"Hm?"
"I think I'm starting to like you."
... You seemed to make the situation worse.
But you just couldn't just continue keeping that information to yourself. If you two were going to get married, being truthful to each other was the first step. A lot of political marriages were kept platonic, most wanting to keep things to themselves and move on with their day since their status of being married was not out of attachment towards each other.
You didn't like that aspect of arranged marriages and that was one of the major reasons as to why you were so against it in the first place. You wanted a link to someone that couldn't be so easily severed. You yearned for reaching a state in your life where you were bounded to the sole person that you loved.
And with continuous reasoning, if this was something that you couldn't escape out of, why not try making it as tolerable as you could by building a connection with the man himself?
The bed dipped on the side which meant that the man who just entered was now sitting on your bed. "Would you mind saying that for one more time?"
Now was when you decided to lift your lids that were once obscuring your e/c orbs.
His hair was down, not gelled back like its usual style since he was just finished showering and he was wearing his nightwear made of high-quality silk. His usual stoic face was flushed, his cheeks covered and painted with a nice shade of rose. With him looking like that, he appeared like an innocent boy who just entered his 20s and had not even ventured out into the real world. It made you want to smother him with kisses and embrace the hell out of him but you still had your dignity intact so your will to stay respectable outweighed the want to spoil him with hugs and smooches.
"I said that I'm starting to like you. And even if I hated to admit it, just a little bit more and I would really find myself falling for you." From your previous lying position, you chose to sit and be at an eye-level with him. "But with so many people flocking around you, I guess that I'm now not that special unlike my 'I hate you so much' persona."
"No. In fact, I feel so happy right now that I don't know what to do nor feel." He was telling the truth. The walls he'd built were slowly crumbling down, and as of the moment, you didn't see the Daisuke that was the scion of a multi-billionaire company but it was just... him. The bare him.
"Can I kiss you?" He asked, unable to contain himself.
"Are you seriously feeling the need to ask that right now? We literally did it-"
This osculation felt a whole lot different. It was more passionate, filled with emotions contrasting the ones from before where you two locked lips because of the spur of the moment. You liked it.
And the night was spent with these two people cultivating their blossoming love.
