"You have a superb sense of smell." She whispered excitedly. "Which is very useful so..."
"I'm not going to be your hunting dog Luna." I interrupted amused.
Her brow creased as she grew annoyed. "Why not?"
"Because if the man is doing something evil I'd rather it be me hunting him down not you."
"You think I can't look after myself." She rolled her eyes at this. And she added to the attitude she's performing by crossing her arms over.
I snickered. "I know you can't look after yourself."
"You don't even know me." She threw back outraged.
"I know enough. A girl like you wouldn't be able to handle all of this alone."
"Well lucky I have you to protect me." She surprised me with her reply. Her eyes softened and her lips pouted. "You're a strong, cunning man I have faith in you." She gazed up at me through her lashes. "I've seen you in action! You have saved me countless times..." She felt the material of my shirt between her fingertips.
I know what you are doing. I thought as she parted her lips not even just to speak, just to flirt with her smile.
You are using your feminine ways to get to me.
Unfortunately... It is working.
"And well if I'm honest." She backed away taking her scent with her. "Sam I will do this with you or without you."
"Oh really?" I smirked deviously.

"Put me down!" I demanded slamming fists into his back. "Who do you think you are?" The harmful to the ears shouting of rhetorical questions went on as he brute carried over his shoulder and cleverly so! Because as to not get caught and get other people involving themselves to rescue the damsel in distress he ran over rooftops threatening to drop me and every time he took a leap. "Sam! You ass sniffer put me down right now or you will regret it."
He froze at the end of one roof and for a second I thought he was considering it. "Nope."
"You will regret this!"
"I believe you said that already."
His hand trailed up from the back of my thighs.
I froze. "Get your hand off it."
"Off what?" He squeezed. My eyes popped out of my head and began hit his back again with clenched fists.
"You perverted dog! Let me go!" He suddenly leaped in the air and I screamed at the lack of warning until we landed on another roof.
"Did you just use the dog card on me. Oh Luna you're breaking my heart."
"I will be breaking your nose in a minute!" I snapped then I started squealing when he leaned back on one leg pretending to fall backwards. He laughed at me. "You're horrible!"
"I'm saving you from yourself Luna." He said humorously. I can just feel him grinning and he's still squeezing my butt!
"No you're saving yourself from me shoving my boot up your..." He suddenly tripped making me squeal in fright. Then he suddenly dropped me to my feet right at the edge of yet another roof so I whimpered and held onto him hopefully piercing my nails into his skin.
He's not fazed by the pain I'm trying to inflict on him.
The disappointment made me only angrier.
"We're here." He said smirking. I gazed at him confused. I gazed around us wondering if I'm missing something.
Nope this is definitely a roof and that is definitely the sky, the Versailles way over there... This is most certainly an insignificant spot to be.
"Where?" I questioned unimpressed.
He whispered. "Close your eyes."
I shot him an distrusting glare. "I don't have faith in you any more."
"That's a shame." He pushed me back off the roof and before I could scream I was caught in someone's arms. Sam grinned down at me showing off a full set of pearly white teeth-not fangs, as I panted and shook in his arms. To think I was excited to see him again.
I regret this immensely. "Put me down." I ordered remaining calm but forcing a sternness in my voice. He chuckled and set me down gently and I relaxed taking big steps away from him to catch my breath. Then out of flusteredness, fury and fear I turned on him and slapped him hard across the face. "A-o-mmmm..." My eyes brimmed with tears as the searing pain rolled through the nerves up along my arm.
"Are you all right?"
"Don't touch me." I said more as a warning than anything else. And to my warning he only chortled. I analyzed my inflaming my hand. "It hurts so much I can't even scream."
"Werewolves are pretty tough."
"That's not fair. You hold me over to my death and I'm the one punished?"
"I had a good grip on you."
"Oh I know I felt it." I replied with venom poisoning my words. I purposely flipped my hair in his face when he made obvious his lack of care and took in my surroundings.
Where on Earth has he taken me?
I read the small Italic black writing on top of the medieval metal door. 'Scarlet Lady'
"A brothel?" I glared over at him while his eyes skimmed over the building. "Is this supposed to be insulting?" For it isn't. I feel sympathy for these girls because they're only doing what men have brought them down to. I knew one of them through Satine but she died from a disease with no cure and even if there was one there would never have been enough money for it. I wish she came to me about it, I would have paid for her. She was only fifteen.
Sam brought me out of my thoughts by patting my back and pointing to the metal doors. "He's in there."
"What? But It's midday." I stated confused. He only laughed at me and I feel really stupid now, perhaps I am truly naive. No time to blush and get embarrassed I'll be doing that tonight when I'm alone with my thoughts. But what am I going to do now? I refuse to pretend to be a prostitute.
"Well looks like there is nothing we can do." He gave me an awkward side hug resting his cheek on my head. "That's just too bad. Oh well best be off before people get the wrong idea." He started walking away but I grabbed the back of his shirt still staring at the doors.
"You men give up too easily. Unless the prize is a woman or gold." I stated pacing up and down along the street. He's right I might as well give up but honesty I thought that maybe the man might... Actually I didn't know what to expect just not this. Not a dead end, not a brothel!
"Let's go before you attract another demon." From the way he's looking at me intently I can tell he expects me to fight him on this.
I saw no point to. "I can't believe this is a day wasted. I bet you're happy about this."
"Thrilled." He replied sarcastically. The door suddenly opened causing us to freeze and I gasped as did the man standing with one of the prostitutes linked to his arm. I noticed she's missing a few front teeth and I almost gagged when she smiled. The man's dark eyes widened in shock and he unconsciously began to run a hand through his mud brown hair.
He took a step toward me to reach his hand out and feel my face. I stepped away looking at him funny. "What are you doing?" I questioned Curtis and he jumped back in fright. What did I grow an extra head? Why is he so shocked to see me?
"Luna? Is that really you?" Curtis asked. I looked at Sam confused and he just shrugged in reply. "Did I turn into someone else within the past few seconds?" I gazed back at a shocked Curtis. "Yes it's me."
"I thought you were dead." What? I chuckled uneasily. Why would he think I was dead?
I eyed at the building then at the girl and chuckled humourlessly. "Well Curtis you certainly move on quickly."
"W- no no it's not like that." He looked at Sam. "Pardon me I haven't had the privilege." He took a confidence step towards Sam holding his hand out. "I am Curtis Bloomwood. Who might you be?"
I never thought Sam would be so remote not to mention silent. Too silent as if he is analysing the situation or plotting a death. I find his silence scarier than facing the vicious of his wolf form. He grabbed Curtis' hand and I noticed the muscles in Curtis' jaw tense as his eyes watered from the shake. Is Sam purposely suffocating Curtis' hand I do not know but it sure sounds like something he would do.
"Samson Night." I knew it was Samson.
"How do you know Luna?" Curtis questioned holding his reddening hand to his chest. Sam you bastard!
"He's my cousin." I quickly interjected before Sam could open his mouth. Curtis seemed to beam after hearing this new piece of information while Sam glowered down at the ground.
"Ah pleasure." Curtis nodded.
"Are you her brother?" Sam asked.
"No?" Curtis replied with a tinge of scepticism.
"Older nephew?" Sam pushed.
"Sam. He's a friend of mine." I declared giving him a strange look hoping he'll get the message. Stop being abnormal.
Sam huffed and as he stared Curtis down. This has gotten awkward very quickly so I turned to the very perplexed prostitute.
"Am I getting paid or not?" She whined once she realised she had my attention.
"Oh Curtis you haven't paid her yet?" I frowned at him.
"We haven't no, we haven't done any of that."
"But are we going to?" She questioned.
"No." He said looking mortified.
"Bloody flirt." She hissed storming back inside. I followed her much to my dismay through the doors. Inside is nothing of how I imagined it, it's just a waiting room over dosed with perfume and sweat. The walls are blood red and I suspect the nude artwork of women are up just to hide cracks. Kind of expected just to see naked bodies everywhere and men tossing money around shamelessly but this is really like a proper business. There are a few men waiting at tables awkwardly avoiding eye contact so they settled on me and I pretended not to notice. Then there are the men roaring in laughter with half naked women on their laps drinks in their hands. The sight made me incredibly uncomfortable so I tried avoiding touching anything. Especially when there were dried up white substances splattered on the floor. I brought my hand to my mouth to swallow back the vomit.
I searched around the bar and at the end of the room are the burgundy curtains leading to the bedrooms where the prostitute was heading to so quickly I pulled her aside away from the seated men. "Listen if he's your husband it's not my fault you can't satisfy his needs." She attacked.
I laughed. "He's not my husband just a cousin of a moron I know."
"Oh. Hon if you're looking for a job my madame..."
"No I was hoping you could help me."
"Me?" She said stunned. A man traced his fingers up my arm and the girl slapped his hand away. "She doesn't work here and you can't even afford being here get out." She snapped at him and he scurried off before one of the guards of this place charged after him. She looked back at me. "What do you need me for?"
"I want to ask you a few questions about a man."
"We don't give out personal information-"
"But-"
"Let me finish." We watched out for any rising ears then leaned in to whisper. "I don't give out personal information for free."
"I have no money on me."
"Then sorry."
"Oh please! Woman to woman. He is a preacher, full dark beard that connects to his hair he's also dressed in black. Scruffy black clothing."
She hesitated. "Sorry darl I cannot help you."
"What if I said you would be helping solve a crime?"
She snickered. "I'm friends with people who commit crimes. Get out of here before you get me into trouble." I frowned disappointed then whispered. "Thank you anyway." She titled her head surprised.
I walked back outside to see the Sam and Curtis arguing with the guards to demand they let them in. I scowled at them but jumped when the girl whispered in my ear. "He's talking with my madame about some dark magic and the Beast. He's going to be at some masquerade to talk with hunters or something." She interrupted me before I could thank her. "You did not hear this from me. Now get out of here." I nodded and grabbed the boy's arms to walk them away.
"This is the last place you two want to be causing a commotion!" I snapped at them.
"What are you even doing around this area Luna?" Curtis questioned.
"I could ask you same thing even though it's pretty obvious." I crossed my arms perking my brow.
"Did you get the information you wanted?" Sam asked.
"No." I lied. I smirked at Curtis and eagerly asked. "Is Evan in there?"
"Now Luna your fight with Evan has to end..."
I shook my head. "Just tell me."
"He isn't and it's not right for you to try and ruin his reputation."
"He calls me a harlot all the time but that's beside the point. I wouldn't not stoop down to his level and do that to him I just want the satisfaction of knowing he has to pay girls to earn love. Won't you give me that?"
"Luna..."
"Au revoir then." I linked my arm with Sam's and he happily walked me away from Curtis. Curtis chuckled and walked off in the opposite direction. "What's with the constipated look?" I whispered to Sam.
"His smell."
"Is this your way of trying to put me off him?"
"Do you love him?"
"I wouldn't take it that far." I said with a laugh. "But he is nice."
"Perhaps just to you."
I rolled my eyes. "You can't be jealous that's ridiculous you barely know me."
"You women and your fantasies. I'm saying that I don't trust him."
"All right." I rolled my eyes then covered my mouth to hide my yawn.
"I'll take you home." I rested my head on his arm.
"Okay."
"That's it? No argument?"
"Too tired."
He chuckled and turned a corner. "This way." I backed away from him and eyed at the back of his head suspiciously.
"How do you know where I live?" I questioned. He looked at me over his shoulder and wiggled his eyebrows.
