The lost one

I bolted down the street, trying to catch up to Jasper and opal, which I eventually did, earning a strange look from the both of them.

"Whoa, what are you running away from?"

"I saw her! She's real!"

Opal frowned slightly, turning to me.

"Well of course shes real."

Jasper kept looking from opal to me, trying to figure out what was happening.

"You never listen Maria." Opal sighed as she turned down the street.

"Wait!" I yelled running back up to her.
"You were keeping something from me."

"I've told you many times about Luna you just don't listen to me. Neither of you do."

"Her name is Luna?"

Opal step faltered and she turned back to me. Jasper snickered.

"Now you blew it."

"Shut up Jasper."

I was still staring at them, eyes wide. I was interested considering I still don't know exactly what we were talking about.

"What do you guys mean!? Come on please explain!"

"Well-."

Opal slapped her hand over Jaspers mouth quickly shutting him up, giving me a look that honestly terrified me. It wasn't an angry face, it was a scared one. Opal was never scared.

"Maria, don't get involved in this. Stay away from that girl you saw earlier and stay away from spring."

Jasper pushed off opal's hand.

"She deserves to know!"

"THATS ENOUGH JASPER!"

Both Jasper and I stepped away from her.

opal sighed.

"Let's just get home. Your mom is going worry if we're any later."

Opal turned down the street again staring at the pavement as she walked. Jasper and I followed her cautiously, incase another outburst was coming.

This whole day was not going well. Maybe high school is cursed or something.

Well, my biggest problem is probably that girl, Luna as opal called her. She didn't explain anything, really.

My ears perked up as I heard a chime coming from the school grounds. Just like the one that I had heard earlier. Opal must have heard it to, because she looked back at the school.

We were pretty far away, but our school has a very long street leading up to it, so we could still see the school clearly. Even from this far away, I could just barely see movement in the trees. It wasn't much movement but it was enough for me to focus in on the area.

And what do I see? A black sweatshirt.

"Hey, I think I forgot something in my locker. I gotta go get it."

"No." Opal replied sternly." We need to get home. It's going to rain."

"It's my phone though. And mom is probably texting me. You know how she is if the bus gets to me house before I do."

Opal pondered this for a moment her eyes narrowing slightly.

"Fine we'll go with you."

Oh no.

"Jasper we-"

Jasper was already halfway down the street.  He had his headphones on.

"Jasper!" Opal yelled running after her.

The bell chimed again.

"Well. That's my que." I whispered, running up the street back towards the school. Yes, this was not very smart, but hey, someone might call it brave.

When I reached the top of the hill I quickly ran into the trees and looked back down the street.

Jasper was talking to Opal, who was waving her arms around.

I chucked, partly out of fear. It was funny to see opal angry, but also quite scary since she was always calm.

"See I told you she would come."

I spun around holding my backpack in front of me again.

"You really are stupid. Your outnumbered and unarmed."

I remained silent, ready to run at any second.

The girl from the hallway turned to the trees and motioned for someone to come down. The boy, spring, jumped down next to her.

"Eh-hem." He said holding his hand out.

"Ugh. This is not the time."

"I was right though."

"Mari! Hurry up and get down!"

Unfortunately for me,'Mari' decided to fall from the tree behind me, causing me to jump.

"What do you people want!"

The girl rolled her eyes.

"Just follow us."
