Dancing with demons

The rest of the morning passed pretty quickly. As expected we didn't do much in those classes, prompting my boredom and my imagination to run free.

I walked down the hall to the lunch room. My lunch was with the 9th and 10th grade, meaning I have lunch with my cousins as well as Rosemary. I had to tell them about the boy this morning.

I grabbed a tray from the counter, walking up to the lunch line. I recognized the girl in front of me. At least vaguely. She was likely in one of my classes but today's has seemed so strange I barely remember her.

I thought about talking to her, but decided against it. I wasn't the best at talking to people like her. I never had been. Even if I was, I couldn't today.

"Hey."

My eyes flitted to my right, out of instinct, seeing a boy with very light blonde hair.

"What's up?"

I stared at him for a few seconds as if attempting to encode his face into my memory, desperately trying to remember if I've see  him before. He was wearing the black sweatshirt. It seemed like everyone new who talked to me today was wearing that black sweatshirt.

"Hello are you ok?"

"Yes I'm fine."
I could tell I was staring. Not at the boy, just staring. Eventually I got my lunch, walking out to my table.

"Hey Maria, something up?" Jasper chirped up as I sat down next to him.

"Black sweatshirts." I replied sitting down.
Jasper and Rosemary shot me a confused look.

Opal looked up from her drawing book. Worry flashed across her face, if only for a second.

"Like the girl?"

"Yes."

Opal look down terrified. This time it was me who gave  the strange look.

"I'm confuzled." Rosemary said .

"Me too." Jasper laughed.

I lowered my voice to a whisper.
"There was a boy this morning. he came into my homeroom wearing a black sweatshirt and said there was someone who wanted to meet me after school."

"That doesn't sound creepy at all." Rosemary remarked forcing a small laugh.

"And just now in the lunch line there was another boy wearing the same sweatshirt."

"Who?"Jasper asked

"I don't know."I replied.

"It was probably Marco jones." Opal replied, going back to her drawing.

"Who?" All three of us asked.

"We'll Jasper and I call him spring, since he's usually only shows up to school then. Strange. Anyway he's a boy in our grade."

"Isn't that a little mean though? I mean he might not like that nickname."

Opal shrugged" it suits him."

"Moving on, what should I do about the meeting thing?" I asked

"You can go, we'll back you up!" Jasper chimed in enthusiastically.

"Well about that...they said to come alone."

"Are you crazy?! They could kill you and no one would even know!" Rosemary yelled.

"I don't think they will kill her." Opal said calmly. "But I don't think she should go.

"Do you know something that we don't, Opal?" Jasper asked, suspiciously eyeing her sister.

"No."

Opal was good at figuring things out, but this was different. Come to think of it, she had been acting strange lately. like this morning. I'll bet that she does know something, she just wouldn't tell us.

RING

I got up to throw my lunch away but Jasper stopped me.

"I don't think you should go meet whoever they are after school. It sounds dangerous. Not to mention stupid." Jasper whispered.

"I know, but I want to find out what's going on." I replied

Jasper scoffed.
"Curiosity killed the cat."
"But satisfaction brought it back"

I caught up with Rosemary in the hallway desperately wanting her opinion.

"Well I think it's a great idea, if you want to die."

"I seriously doubt they'll kill me."

"You never know."

"You just read too much creepypasta."

Rosemary gave me a shocked look.
"You can never read too much creepypasta."

"When was the last time you slept without thinking the rake was coming to kill you?" I asked .

"Good point. " She sighed." See you later."

I nodded back at her beginning to stride down the hall to my next class. According to my schedule, my next class was chorus.

I quickly walked into the classroom, taking a seat on the far end of the risers. I was one of the first people here.

I stared out the window at the rain that had started to fall, hoping I wouldn't be approached again by the boys I had seen earlier, or anyone else in a black sweatshirt for that matter.

"What are you doing?" I looked up. there was the girl I sat next too earlier in english.

"Looking out the window."

"Why?"

"Why."

"What?"

It tactic one fails, plan b. Just reply with why to every question.
The girl was about to say something but at that moment, our teacher walked in the room.

"Hello children welcome back."

Back. This is so strange.

Miss Polizi passed out some worksheets. they were simple, with questions like;
What's your name?
What's your favorite color?
What's your favorite subject?

I started to fill out the questions when I heard music. Miss Polizi must have turned on the radio.

You bought a star

In the sky tonight

I was really surprised to hear that considering I've never heard it on the radio before. I wasn't complaining though, I liked this song.

All my life I've been so lonely

All in the name of being holy

Still you like to think you own me

You keep buying stars

I recited the words in my head as I finished the sheet.

With nothing to do, I thought about after school. Only two periods left until I had to decide. I know there's something opal isn't telling me.

I wonder what I'll be meeting. It's something that doesn't want to be seen. And it's making me come alone.
My best guess is I'll be meeting something evil.

Mabey I should listen to Jasper and Rosemary.

My guess is I'll be meeting a monster.

You're still living life in the dark

It's just who You are
