14 A Change of Mind
Yoshino hasn't changed a bit since the last time I saw her, the same dark sunglasses, long black ponytail and a few barely visible scars and patches covering her body. Yet I still find myself having a hard time believing she is regular human being after all...at the moment she was leaning against her bike, lighting up a cigarette. When she turned and saw me walking towards her, she gentle pulled the cigarette from her lips and lets out a ring of smoke.
"Even my grandma is faster than you." She said tauntingly, before inhaling in the cigarette again.
"Why are you here? What do you want from me?" the words just slipped out of my mouth.
"Do you know it is very un-gentlemen like to keep a lady waiting?"
I see where this trend is coming from now...
"The twins are not here with me right now, if its revenge you want, now is your best chance."
"I would very much like that you bastard, but I am here for a different purpose."
"And that is?" I raised an eyebrow.
"I need to discuss something with you."
That perked my interest for a moment, but remembering the fact that she could still be an enemy, I had to use my choice set of words, but even so, I feel like I was on tilt.
"I am listening." I answered plainly.
Before she said anything else, she held up her cigarette pack towards me, with one of the cigarette jutting outwards, clearly for me to take it. I never smoked before to be honest, and I tend to stay away from those stuff most of the time. My curiosity always encouraged me to try on, but every time I came close to trying one. My moral bottom line always intervenes at the last moment that puts a stop to all my shenanigans. And as much I was tempted to take one this time, the same bottom line defence mechanism triggered again, killing all my temptations once again. When I refused, all she did was snicker, and slowly put the pack back in her coat pocket again. After the momentary crisis seem to be over, she turned to me and spoke:
"Wash all the ear poop out of your ear and listen closely, because I am only going to say this once." Her voice was cool and deadly, then seizing the gap, she took the cigarette from her lips with the tip of her fingers and flicked it mercilessly away at the ground. Then proceed to ending the last spark of its life beneath her boot.
"I want an alliance."
I kind of expected it from the start, but to really put it into effect, I have to act as if a meteor hit the earth and wiped out half the earth kind of shocked.
"Are you sure you are not high or something?" I taunted, even though I knew saying it would possibly get me killed, but it was worth to see the reaction.
Instead she walked up to me, extended her hand in a graceful way towards my face...my heart skipped a beat for moment, I knew it was all too good to be true, and I was right when she squeezed one side of my cheek to the point, I feel like my entire face is going to be ripped off.
"Please I beg!" I cry.
"Hmph, watch that tongue of yours, or I will have it removed from you. Are we clear?"
"Yes, we're clear..." My voice filled with agony, as I gently rubbed my cheek, even though it did little to help ease the pain.
"Good, now do I have to repeat what I just said?" Her expression was serious, and this time she looked ready to rip my entire face of for real.
"No I got it, but...it's just all too sudden..." I replied with a low humble voice, while backing up a couple steps at the same time.
"Is there something wrong with being too sudden?" her expression was cross, her voice clearly sounded displeased.
"Not at all...but with all due respect ma'am, could you at least tell me what changed your mind?" I know I could find out all about the information easily with Eji, but still I wanted to hear it directly from her, or else there wouldn't be a point for us talking to each other right now.
"Hmph, fine. Listen carefully to every single word I am about to say!" she clears her throat for a brief moment then points a finger at me and says: "As much as I hate to say this, but I see value in you! Value that could finally be put to use for great things, instead of washing girl's underwear." She snickered. Wait...how the f**k does she know? Does she have spies everywhere or something?
"Wait, wait, wait! How do you know I have to wash the twins' underwear?" my face grew hot at once at the mention of the word 'underwear'.
"Oh. That was just a guess, all I know is that you currently their only servant, so it only makes sense they will make you do everything..." Yoshino cocked her head around and spat the ground near my feat, "you truly disgust me insect." she said, as her eyes drew an invisible line between us, and judging from the contemptuous look on her face, I might not be able to live if I ever decide to cross that line...
Dayum. I completely acted out of panic, resulting in digging my own grave...
"Yeah you forgot to add the waking up in the morning and making their breakfast, waking them up, cleaning their rooms, making their lunch, escorting them on the street, making them dinner, sometimes maybe even a brunch in between, prepare their baths and clean up after them...and repeat the same process day after day..." I said with the edge of despair.
"Hmph, you deserved it, insect." The words came like a whip, but it was a half-hearted as well. Her voice was almost sympathetic, making me half wanting to curl up into a ball and cry, but it also brought me tears of joy from the sympathy I almost felt. But I the end I held back and remained neutral expression, since neither reactions was the suitable thing for me to do.
"I have a spot for chef opening for you. You have 10 seconds to decide." Yoshino said, as she calmly takes off her sunglasses and put it into her coat pocket.
"What about the Twins? What should I do with them?" I said in an outburst.
"Who cares? They should be fine managing off on their own..." her voice trailed off, realizing her argument won't stand, "and in case, if they do die, that means less competition for me, and more gain for me." Yoshino said, followed by an ambitious laugh.
"You bitch! I heard that!" the scream sounded so familiar, it almost made me jump. And indeed it was, as the twins step away from the shadows and into the light.
"My dearest sister Aine, swearing is a very un-lady like manner, now please guard that tongue of yours." Aurora said with an icy calmness.
"Fine...But you heard what she said, she was trying to steal our servant!"
"Hmph, I don't see any reason why you should stay with these stuck up girls, come to sis, I promise you will have a better time here." Right before she finishes her sentence, she lunges her hard forward, catching me completely off guard as she grabs me by the shoulder and pulls me towards her, burying my face deep into her chest...
And I have to be honest, as awkward as it is, the feeling is just plain awesome! And crap nose bleed...
"Let him go, you slut." Aurora snapped with ferocity like never before.
"Ho, you wanna fight then? 2 against 1, bring it on. I will show you the difference between girls and real women!" Yoshino yelled, shoving me to one side. As I helplessly watch the greatest cat fight of the century unfold.
"No wait, there must be a peaceful solution to this..." before I could even finish my sentence, the 3 chicks and screamed at me in one union.
"Shut up! And stay away from this!"
In any normal circumstances being fought over my girls, would normally make me feel happy, but in this situation it only seems to make me feel in danger, and my life could potentially end at any moment. So I shut up this time. Since there was really nothing I much I can about it.
No, believe in yourself Ying, it's now or never, to take a stand and prove you are much more then you think you are, believe in yourself that no one else beside you can do this, it's dangerous, it's risky, but nobody but you can do it... I thought, as I breathe in and out deeply from the little prep talk I gave myself.
"Ladies! Quit fighting amongst yourselves!" I said with authority, which only earned me a couple icy glare from the girls that chided me to the bones, but right now I had to act tough in front of them, or else there would be no point putting up the act in the first place.
"The enemy maybe watching us at the very moment, and remember we have a common enemy, and we are all in this mutual alliance whether you like it or not."
The girls seems to hear me, but one peek at expressions I could just tell none of them really give two shits. Then things began to heat up as they seized each other up in an intense stare down, and I got a feeling that even slightest hint of weakness could prove to be fatal. And in the end it all ended with a silent agreement that vaguely feels like the start of the cold war. But hey! I am not complaining, as long the whole place is not blowing up or something...And surprisingly after the seemly forever 'Stare war' Aurora was the first to emerge from the silence:
"A common enemy? Would you mind to explain my dear servant?"
Still adding dear doesn't make it anywhere close to fair, but at least it was a small sign of tentativeness.
"Francisco, the one who attacked us, may still be out there on this island. I never knew who he is until yesterday, I never meet him in my entire life, much less talk to him, and somehow he targets us out all the other people in this city, why did he specifically target me-" I cut off myself and quickly rephrased myself: "I mean us, why us? I don't know if it's just me or does engaging in a fight with 3 different avatars users, others, twin souls, or whatever you call them, considered normal?"
The twin's expression was blank, and Yoshino appears to be taking a ride on the deep thinking train.
"My servant does have a point, the rest of the others may be aware of this too." Aurora said with an icy tone, while maintaining a clam expression that amplified her 'cold beauty' effect. And I have to admit, that's probably one of the main reasons I am still working for the twins, is so I catch a glimpse of her in this mood, which I find myself to be strangely attracted to...
"I don't even have the slightest clue what you guys are talking about, but my dearest sister Aurora has my fullest support!" Aine said loudly and cheerfully, as she embraced her sister with a large bear hug and wide smile.
I have to admit once again, that I am quite envious of Aine and her personality, I wish I was easy going as her sometimes, and able to freely express my thoughts and moods whenever I like...sadly I wouldn't allow myself to live like that, due to various reasons...
"The insect is right, it is too unnatural, too unlikely even for a coincidence. And let me clear up one more thing," Yoshino paused, gripping me firmly by the arm, completely catching me off guard again. Who then half lifted me up like some hanging pork at the butcher turned and stated in a clear voice:
"I am only accepting him under my alliance, and that does include you two whiny brats, are we clear?"
"Hey! He's not your property! He's our servant!" Aine complained furiously, and for show, she grabbed me by the other arm and began tugging me the opposite way.
"Just pause a moment guys, let me clear up one thing, I am not anyone property, I am actual human being who has his own thoughts and will..."
Aine: "SHUT UP YOU DUMMY!"
Aurora: "Be quiet servant."
Yoshino: "Who gave you permission to speak, insect?"
And here we go again...
