Papaya nervously paced outside the medicine den. His lime green fur was standing on end, and his pitch-black eyes were full of fear. He couldn't believe it- Lemon was pregnant! She was having a baby and he could do nothing but wait outside and hope they'd both live.

"Papaya?" It was Droplet, the village healer.

"I've never been so happy to see a rattlesnake in my life." Papaya joked. "How is she?"

"Doing fine. Ssstil hasssn't given birth jussst yet."  Droplet said. "But ssshe will sssoon."

"Alright, thank you." Papaya said, continuing to pace.

The gray diamondback rattlesnake slithered back into the medicine den, allowing the leaves to drape over the entrance. Papaya decided to curl up and wait. He felt like a snake, but furries. It was a weird feeling and he couldn't help but think of his ch-

"Murrple!" "Wussle?" "Pffft." "Doubbon."

Papaya shot up immediately and turned to look at the den to see Droplet slithering back out, a smile on her face.

"Three girls, one boy. Congratulations, Papaya. You're a father now." Droplet hissed cheerfully.

He wasted no time and ran into the den to see a beautiful yellow ferret with a white underbelly staring down at her four little bundles of joy. Lemon's orange eyes gleamed as the sunlight drifted into the den.

"What are we gonna name these guys?"Papaya asked.

"I think you mean guy and girls," Lemon said, nuzzling her mate.

"Right. How about..." Papaya said, looking at his son. "Citrus?"

"Where'd you get that from?" Lemon asked.

"You." He replied.

"For the girls, why not Fritz, Blue and..." Lemon said, trailing off.

"Wurple!" The little unnamed ferret squealed, gnawing on Lemon's paw. She climbed onto her arm and fell asleep on it.

"Misty." Papaya said, picking her up. Misty was wriggling around in his paws as he beamed at his daughter.

"Alright, Misty it is then, my little princess," Lemon said, smiling.
