{6} Honor Council

***

Once again, the first thing that Vienna was met with when she woke up in the morning was the notice of another assembly. They seem to be having a lot of them lately. Things with Sasha and Dana had ended recently. Dana ended up dying and Sasha was the only one that they were able to save. Vienna hoped that this assembly wouldn't be something like the last assembly. She didn't think that they could handle the stress of finding more missing people. The students were already having enough hard time trying to pass their classes.

Standing behind a podium was Dr. Saltzman, which was to be expected since he always stood there during assemblies. This time, instead of being joined by the sheriff, he had Emma by his side which let Vienna relax. It looked like this assembly was going to be more laidback than the last one.

Even the tone that Dr. Saltzman spoke with was much lighter than the previous assembly, "Due to recent events, some students have expressed concern that I am not allowing you to have a say in the decisions that affect your future," The man gave a pointed look to his blonde daughter who only grinned at him in response. He turned his attention back to the rest of the students. "And I agree. If you are expected to abide by this school's policies, it's only fair that you have a voice in how those rules are made," Lizzie, Vienna, and Josie all did a low-five. Mission accomplished. "So, I am forming an honor council," The twins and their cousin all smiled widely at the news. The rest of the students started muttering to each other about the news. "One vampire, one witch, and one werewolf, each elected by their peers. Along with our school counselor, Emma, whose vote will represent the younger students. Now, I have to go off campus. In the meantime, I expect you to make good decisions and to vote wisely. That's all. You're dismissed."

Turning to Josie, Vienna whispered, "And this is where Lizzie jumps right to winning."

That was what always happened in situations like this. Josie agreed with the girl, nodding and mouthing the word, "Yeah." Everyone stood up as Dr. Saltzman walked off. The girls grinned at each other as the students continued to talk about the news. Almost immediately after they heard the news, Lizzie jumped right to prepare for the voting. She dragged Josie and Vienna up to her and Josie's room to start the complaining process.

They had spent probably almost 30 minutes making fliers for Lizzie while the blonde tried on clothes. The fliers they made had a picture of Lizzie on them and they had words that read, "I'M WITH HER." Vienna looked up at the fliers, not wanting to stare at them for a moment longer to see Lizzie now dressed up. She wore an all-white suit with a white jacket that had slitted sleeves. It didn't look too bad on her, to be honest. Another color would probably look better though.

Noticing that Vienna was the only one looking at her, Lizzie stared at her twin with annoyance, "Josie, focus," Josie looked up from the flier and stared at her sister. She slowly nodded. "Vienna's been paying attention this whole time and you're dozing off."

Oh... Well. Vienna raised her hand. Lizzie gestured for Vienna to talk. Vienna spoke with a very apprehensive look, "Actually if I'm being honest, I'm pretty sure I was zoning out the whole time." She only remembered looking at the flier and then nothing after that. She only started paying attention a few moments ago.

This definitely caused Lizzie even more annoyance. She stared at the girl with a look of frustration, "Vienna Daphne Forbes!"

"Hey!" Vienna exclaimed. She pointed at the girl with her eyes narrowed, "There is no need to pull out the full name," Her middle name was something that Vienna didn't really like. It was okay but it definitely could have been better. Imagine a middle name like Ophelia or Lyra. Well, she had to admit, Daphne was a better middle name than most. Vienna finally raised her hands up in surrender, "I'll start paying attention."

This was enough for Lizzie. She turned to the full-body mirror that stood behind her to look at the outfit she was wearing. With a simple wave of her hand, the suit turned a bluish-purple in the mirror. Lizzie didn't look the least bit impressed with the color change, "None of this is working."

"I think red will suit you better." Vienna studied the outfit closer as if to imagine it being red.

After a moment of thinking, Lizzie waved her hand. The outfit turned to red and Lizzie nodded in satisfaction. A smile crept onto her face, "You know, you might be right."

"You know," Josie cut the edges of the flier she had in hand, "You're not gonna lose the election over an outfit."

The comment didn't seem to bother Lizzie at all. Instead, she only said, "I'm not worried about losing the election. I'm worried about what I'm going to wear to my victory rally," And there it was. Vienna turned to Josie with an, 'I told you so,' look. Josie only stared at her with an exhausted look before turning her attention back to Lizzie. "The outfit makes the speech," Once more, Lizzie waved her hand and the outfit became pink in the mirror. She grinned, "How do I look?"

"Maybe you should wear something that shows your fellow witches you're gonna take this seriously," Josie shot at her. The sudden statement made Lizzie look over at her sister with a look of surprise. It was like she hadn't been expecting the girl to talk to her like that. Josie disregarded the look and continued, "It's a big responsibility."

Waving off the tone that Josie had used toward her, Lizzie only smiled, "That is why I am perfect for the job," It was obvious that she wouldn't take Josie's words into consideration. Lizzie sat down on her bed, moving Vienna's feet off the bed. Vienna had been laying on the bed since they got done with the fliers. Vienna gave the girl a, 'What gives?!' look. Lizzie only rolled her eyes before saying to Josie, "I'm a tastemaker," Josie avoided her gaze. "An influencer. People don't really know what they want until I tell them that they want it. They need me."

The only thing Josie did was nod. She wasn't able to form words about what her sister had just said. Vienna, on the other hand, did have some feedback about what Lizzie said, "Lizzie, that's problematic thinking."

"But is it really problematic if it's true?" Lizzie raised an eyebrow at her. "I mean, seriously."

"Yes, Lizzie," Vienna nodded. "Yes, it is." Like always, Lizzie waived the girl off, ignoring her words completely. The action made Vienna let out a sigh. She already knew that she was going to have a long and difficult few days while the election was going on. Lizzie was either going to give her the biggest headache on earth or she was going to kill her.

Time passed and the three girls were still cooped up in the same room. Vienna had to take her overshirt off at this point, leaving her in just her tank top because of how hot and stuffy it was getting in the room. Lizzie had changed her outfit, saying how the other one was a bit too over-the-top and she needed something more toned-down. She eventually settled on a white button-up shirt with a red ribbon around the neck. She wore black pants with red straps that hung by her sides.

Currently, the girl was practicing the speech that she was going to give when she won. Not if she won but when she won, Lizzie had been very persistent on the verbiage, "This is such an honor," Her voice shook with emotion. She glanced down at her notecard, "It's so nice to know that you all love me," She waved the card in front of her face like someone would do to prevent themselves from crying. Vienna shot a look to Josie who stood behind Lizzie. "As much as I thought you did."

For the first time in a while, Lizzie had been cut off. Vienna let out a sigh of relief. She wasn't sure how much longer she could take watching the scene. It had been Josie who had cut into her sister's speech, "Hey, Lizzie," Lizzie turned to her after hearing her say her name. "Before you go too far down the road of victory speeches, I talked to Serena and her goth coven. She said that they would vote for you," Lizzie sat down on her bed. "But they just wanted to make sure that you would allow time off for pagan holidays."

The blonde nodded, "Right."

The response was written down on a clipboard by Josie. It was like Josie was Lizzie's secretary or something. Vienna was glad that she didn't have much else to do. She only really helped when Lizzie asked her to do something. Watching Lizzie look at her notecards with her speech on them, Vienna decided to say something that might get her killed, "Are you sure that you should just immediately assume that you're going to win? What happens if you lo-" The blonde immediately cut herself off when she saw the look that was thrown at her by Lizzie. It was clearly a look that said that she would kill her if she continued her sentence. Vienna nodded to herself, "Okay, I'll keep my mouth shut."

"Yeah, you probably should." Lizzie grinned.

The sound of footsteps caught Vienna's attention. Lizzie quickly stood up when she saw who the person who entered was. Vienna looked over to see that Rafael was standing at the door of the room. Josie sent him a smile, "Hey, Raf."

"Hey, Jo," He greeted. Vienna raised her hand as if to say, 'Hey, I'm here too!' The action made Raafel crack a smile. He turned to the witch and greeted her as well, "Hi, Vi."

"Hello to you too, Raf." Vienna smiled.

Looking around Josie's body, Lizzie waved at Rafael, "Welcome to the winner's circle."

"How's it going with Jackass Jed?" Josie stepped toward him. The nickname was enough to make Vienna snort. That had to be the perfect nickname for Jed that she had ever heard. She could only imagine the look on his face if he ever heard her or anyone say that. "I mean, do you need any more advice on how to deal with Cro-Manon alphas?"

The wolf placed a hand on Josie's arm, "That's actually why I'm here," He maneuvered around Josie and headed straight to Lizzie, "Lizzie."

Oh, no. This was going to go so bad. Vienna had a radar for this kind of stuff. She was way too familiar with what would be happening any moment now. The smile on Lizzie's face was enough proof for her, "Hey." Lizzie said to him.

"You got a sec?" Rafael asked.

For the first time since they started preparing for the voting, Lizzie actually wanted to stop and talk. She had been so focused on winning that she refused to talk about anything else. Now that Rafael was talking to her, she was ready to put down anything and everything just to speak with him. Lizzie nodded in response to his question, "I have a lot of secs," Rafael grimaced at her wording. Vienna found herself wincing as well, covering her face from the secondhand embarrassment. Lizzie closed her eyes in embarrassment as well, "I mean... Time." She plastered on a straight face.

"The honor council might get to decide if Landon can stay," Rafael stated. Josie glanced back at him from her place over by her desk. It was very obvious to Vienna that both twins had a crush on him. Josie was just a lot better at hiding it than Lizzie. "Emma won't say how she's gonna vote, but I talked to MG, and he's the only vampire running, and he's on board," Lizzie nodded. "And because everyone knows that you're gonna get the witch vote, I-"

The sentence was cut off by Lizzie saying, "Say no more" She placed a hand on her chest, "I know how much Landon means to you, and I would be happy to help."

There was a look of surprise on Rafael's face, "I mean, all right. Thank you," He let out a chuckle, "Seriously."

Just as he went to leave, Lizzie quickly stepped in his way, "Oh, if- If you would, um, be happy to... Be my date to my birthday on Friday?"

And there it was. The moment when everything would go inevitably wrong. The twins' birthday was a huge thing for Lizzie. She never wanted to go by herself and almost always tried to hunt down a date, usually a guy that she was obsessed with at the time. The sudden question shocked Josie as she dropped her books that she was grabbing form the shelf behind Lizzie. This caused the other three people in the room to look over at her. The girl brought the clipboard up to hide her face.

Quickly forgetting the incident, Lizzie stared at Rafael once more. It was very obvious to anyone how unhappy Rafael was by the sudden question. Vienna immediately took notice of this and tried to step in, "Um, Lizzie, I don't think-"

It was too late, the damage had been done. "Are you blackmailing me?" Rafael inquired.

A chuckle escaped Lizzie, "No, silly. I'm black-tie'ing you," It was like she didn't even notice how insensitive her question was. A wide grin was spread across her face, "It's totally different."

For a moment, the girl was met with complete silence. Rafael glanced at Josie who said nothing and then turned his gaze to Vienna. Vienna shot the boy a look that said that she was sorry for Lizzie. Rafael finally turned his gaze back to Lizzie and pursed his lips. He stared at her with a painful smile, "Sure," He nodded to himself while staring at the floor. "Whatever."

With that said and done, Rafael walked past Lizzie and Josie and headed out of the room. Vienna stared in the direction he left in with an apologetic look. Lizzie didn't even care that her actions had affected him. She was practically beaming with the other two girls stared at her with unhappy expressions. Lizzie stared at Josie and laughed breathily. Josie laughed as well and then grimaced whenever Lizzie hugged her tightly. Lizzie moved away from her and went right back to doing what she was going before Rafael came in with a huge grin. Vienna and Josie only shared a look.

Election time came faster than Vienna had been expecting it to. Penelope stood on the stairs with a red envelope in her hand. She blew on it and it went floating into the voting box. Everyone gasped upon seeing the sight and chatted among themselves. Vienna rolled her eyes at the displace. Josie and Penelope shared a look before Penelope went to go sit down. Lizzie sat in between Josie and Vienna's side. Once again, she had changed clothes. This time she wore a white button-up shirt with a big black bow around the neck. She also wore a black and red-striped jacket. Her hair was in a ponytail and some of it was swept to the side.

"All right," A new voice spoke. Emma walked out in front of everyone. Her appearance caused everyone to go silent and find their seats. "Voting is now closed," Everyone clapped at the news. "Let's get started," The box shook and a bright light came from inside it. A paper flew out of it and Emma caught it. Vienna was 100% sure that this was a scene from Harry Potter. Emma looked over the paper in her hand, "The werewolf representative will be...  Rafael." Emma grinned at him.

The other werewolves applauded and cheered him on. Some even got up to pat him on the back or on the shoulder. The sudden news confused Vienna as she turned to the twins saying, "I thought Rafael wasn't running in the first place."

"He wasn't," Josie shook her head. "So much for not wanting to do anything with the pack."

The new development didn't upset Lizzie at all. The only thing she said was, "I've always wanted to be part of a power couple." She stared at Rafael with a dreamy look on her face.

"All right, settle down," Emma called out. Finally, the werewolves all calmed down, sitting back down in their seats. "Thank you. Next up..," Emma turned back to the box. Another paper came shooting out of the box and Emma was able to catch this one as well, "The vampire representative will be..," Vienna could see MG standing up with a big smile on his face as he fixed his jacket. "Kaleb.," The smile immediately fell off of the boy's face and Vienna felt her heart break for him. The vampires stood and cheered loudly while clapping. Some held fliers with a picture of Kaleb that talked about freeing him. Emma's voice broke through the cheering, "All right, guys," MG stand down. "Settle down!" The vampires calmed down. "Thank you."

The moment that Lizzie had been waiting for finally arrived. She quickly turned to Josie, "Showtime. How do I look?" Josie smiled at her and went to fix the girl's outfit.

"You look great," Vienna said with a grin.

"And the witch representative will be..," Emma looked at the new paper that came out. She smiled in the twins' direction and said, "Josie," The smiles fell off the twins' faces and Vienna's. Vienna stared at Emma with wide eyes. The other witches seemed to be pretty confused as well. Some gasped and started talking to others. Emma didn't seem to notice the confusion, if she did then she chose not to comment on it. She only said, "Thank you all for voting. And congratulations to our newly elected representatives."
