Chapter 15 Interlude

"No." You were breathless, bag falling off your shoulder to the floor. The books that resided within hitting the wooden flooring with a very disruptive bang. Tears reached your eyes, it burned as you tried to hold them back. Despite your efforts a few still slipped past.

"(Y/N)." The man you thought was your boyfriend sat up in the bed, body covered in hickeys and scratches.
"It's not what it looks like."

He defended poorly struggling to get out of the blanket. Struggling to get out of your bed.

"Sorry." The woman he was with apologized though her smile said otherwise. A sick grin across her face as she leaned forward keeping the blanket close to her chest almost as if she was hiding behind your, now ex, boyfriend.

"Listen it was a mistake." Your boyfriend stood up, shaking her off.
"Please give me another chance."

He reached out towards you, and you stumbled backwards a bit tears falling more and more down your face.

"No." You breathed again shaking your head now clenching your hands into fists.
"No, no I won't!"

You found your voice.

"You!-" anger was an understatement to how you felt as you pointed harshly at your boyfriend, "you disgust me."

You sneered. Your boyfriend recoiled as you picked up your bag hastily off the ground. Wiping your tears.

"You're just like all of them. I never want to see you again." You seethed giving him a single stare before walking towards the door.

"Wait!" He tried to catch you but you shook it off.

"I'll show you-" you gasped turning to look at him sharply. "I'll show you and everyone else who's belittled me that I am not a push over. Consider us over."

You stormed into the hall of the collage dormitory, slamming the door shut. You walked away covering your eyes a bit. He cheated. He cheated. You never wanted to be with another person again. Everyone's all the same. They only care about themselves...what did you do wrong?

The tears subsided, and when you removed your hand to brush what was left away, you stopped. This was different. This wasn't-

H e l l o?

You turned around hastily heart racing in your chest. What was that? You looked around taking shaky breaths. Now in the middle of a forest. Have you walked that far?

C a n y o u h e a r m e?

You spun around again feeling as though fear was choking you now.

L i s t e n t o m e i f y o u c a n , s t a y a w a y f r o m t h e m.

Stay away from who? Stay away from who?! You wanted to shout, but every time you tried no words left your throat. You wanted to scream but again it was useless. Nothing wanted to leave you.

Stay away from who?!

You cried in your mind. Stay away from who?!

You groaned at the buzzing that woke you up. Your nightstand causing the enhanced noise as your phone rang. You turned to your side, body sore and barely wanting to move as you peeled at your phone. Your eyes squinted at the light almost unable to register what was on the screen before everything settled in.

Several missed calls.

You rubbed your eyes trying to wake up more sitting up. Missed calls from...(F/N) and...

"The chief?" You muttered hoarsely. What did he want this early in the morning? He never cares.

"What's wrong Angel?" The new voice scared you for a moment as you felt arms wrapping around your waist pulling you in close to have your back flush with the person behind you's chest. Freddy sighed nuzzling into your shoulder.
"It's too early to be worried. Let's go back to sleep."

He murmured almost as if reading a script someone else would tell him. The events from last night all came rushing back to you. The date, dinner, afterwards. You covered your mouth a bit turning a brilliant shade of red to match your embarrassment.

That would explain my dream.

You thought staring at your phone. Why did you agree to sleep with Freddy? Was he that persuasive? Or perhaps you were too eager? What ever it was, it's over now and what's done was done.

"(Y/N)?" Freddy muttered against your shoulder, from where he had his head. Curious as to why you've been so still. He pressed a few kisses along your bare skin, humming almost as if enjoying the taste.
"What's wrong?"

"Nothing." You dismissed, after sending a text to (F/N).
"Just work."

"Ah work." Freddy sighed with a playful smile as he nuzzled his nose in the corner of your jaw were your ear met the bone.
"How boring."

You didn't know what to say shuddering at the affection.

What if he'd treat you the same as your ex? The thought lingered menacingly in the back of your mind. You stood up abruptly shaking him off of you creating distance.

"I'm getting a shower." Was all you said as you got some clean clothes and headed towards the bathroom.

Freddy watched you curiously as you slammed the door shut. Almost like keeping him out. But oh well what's the harm in that? You'd come back to him eventually.

Freddy lounged as you showered, enjoying the smell of your bed, the smell of you. A smile playing his lips before he peeked at your phone from where you left it out.

"Nothing hmm?" He mused before reaching for the device. He held it in his hands looking at your Lock Screen.

What an interesting picture it was. It gave him more insight to the things you liked. He wondered what else you had on your phone that could help him find out more of what you liked and disliked? Sliding it open he was met with the passcode screen. He crinkled his nose.

He should of guessed it wasn't going to be that easy. Nothing ever is. But the question was, what was an important number to you? Freddy hummed thoughtfully before he thought back to everything he knew about you. He tried a few combinations until finally with extreme luck the phone unlocked.

Now he got a view of how you liked to organize on your phone, he hummed at first curious what was in your camera roll before a text message had come in.

It was from (F/N), and it read: idk, Brian's apparently been missing for a while and they're launching an investigation on that. That's all I got out of him, he's been trying to reach you for the past hour to see if you know anything. My dad is pretty heated about his best friend being gone now too.

Freddy's lips curled into a smile. Oh it took them this long to notice he was gone? But what was more interesting was that (F/N) was the chief of polices daughter.

"I guess it's true what they say, about men being punished for their crimes against women by having a daughter of their own." Freddy hummed to no one in particular but himself. He scrolled a little through your messages with (F/N) smiling widely as he saw you had been talking about him to her.

He bit his lip excitedly, looking towards the bathroom still hearing the shower. You are just as obsessed aren't you? He looked back to your phone, opening your phone app to look at who's been calling.

The chief and (F/N). He hummed pressing on voice mails listening to the ones from the chief.

"Listen (L/N), you pick up your damn phone now or I'll!-" the rest of the message didn't continue on like that. A faint voice in the background rushing in.
"You..you call me back. Immediately. Forget about that missing person's case."

He left it at that and the message ended. Freddy carefully made sure to have your phone exactly the way you left it as he placed it back on the side table. Now staring thoughtfully at the wall.

That chief, he didn't like how he was talking to you. Much less talking about you. He didn't suspect you did something to that miserable roach did he?

You didn't do a thing, you were an Angel, a god send. A beautiful person both body mind and soul. You could do no evil. No harm. Freddy was sure of it. But still, this chief's suspicion was too close to the real problem. Freddy guessed he'd have to take care of it. But for now he was sitting here smiling up at you as you came out of the shower almost surprised he was still in your bed.

"You're still here?" Your sweet voice carried through the air for him.

"Why would I be?" Freddy shrugged slightly.
"It's not very polite of me to fuck and leave is it?"

You blushed at his crude words for what had happened. It made Freddy smile more, that was if his lips could stretch any farther than they were stretched now.

"Beside we made a deal." Freddy moved to stand up stretching a bit. His hair was messy, but he didn't care as he walked towards you gently running his fingers along your jaw. Like he was memorizing the feeling of your skin.
"Your rat still needs to be found doesn't he?"

"Michael, his name is Michael." You corrected him. You always corrected him. That's part of what made you so sweet. You assumed the best of someone who was so bad. Freddy dismissed it how ever.

"Yeah, yeah." He hummed.
"How about we look around some more surely there's something new right?"

Freddy's new plan no longer was to keep you from finding Michael, but to keep you as far from the town as he could. He couldn't have you getting tangled in another mess could he?

You have him a perplexed look but agreed with a slow nod of your head looking away a bit. Almost lost in your own thoughts.

Yes stay oblivious and innocent, even though Freddy knew it was only a matter of time before you pieced it all together, he still wanted to play a little longer before having to admit the sinister truth to you. Human evolution was never a good conversation for anyone really.

It's raining again. Heavy too. Baby held her hand out from where she held her umbrella to shield her, feeling the water hitting her delicate porcelain skin. It reminds her of that day.

That terrible day.

"Daddy!" She cried, Michael held her back. The police rushed to the bodies.
"Daddy!"

Baby closed her eyes feeling a tear running down her cheek.

"Hey." The voice caused baby to open her eyes, recoiling her hand back within the shield of her umbrella. She looked towards the keeper of the voice. Finding foxy standing beside her with a pensive expression.
"We got trouble."

"What is it this time." Baby sighed disappointed as she turned on her heel to face her friend.

"It's Freddy's latest obsession." Foxy breathed cautiously.
"That man Freddy murdered, his best friend was the chief of police, and it looks like that girl is a prime suspect for his disappearance given the fact that he harassed her."

Baby stared at foxy before she looked away pointedly with a scowl.

"Typical." She grumbled under her breath. "I have to take care of everything around here."

She started walking not bothering to wait for Foxy to catch up to her.

"What are you going to do?" Foxy question as he caught up, his hands in his pant pockets and his heels clicked along with baby's.

"Fix the problem." Baby sighed.
"Don't worry I won't take away Freddy's latest little play thing."

Baby smiled a bit.

"I like her, she reminds me of myself before I woke up and faced the music." Baby hummed, looking down the street of the motel the group was staying at.

"I'll take that as a good thing." Foxy breathed almost relieved.
"We're waiting for your call when you're ready."

Foxy took his leave after he bid his farewell. Leaving baby all alone again. She stared out at the forest up ahead, the rain still pouring down.

Baby narrowed her eyes thoughtfully. If Freddy didn't tell you the truth soon, things could get dicey. Either he said it or she showed you. Unfortunately there was no way around it.

Humanity must evolve.
