Part 14
Y/n looked around as the ground beneath her started to split. She watched as the side she was on started to lift. She watched as people fell from the short height.
"Oh no, oh no, oh no. There are still people on Sokovia, we need to get them off!" It felt like no one could hear her. They were all staring down past the crack at the people and town getting destroyed around them. She kept into action. She grabbed people's arms and tried to get them to hold onto her, but few of them would. She only got a few people back down before she could no longer see places to teleport.
"Look, we need people to stop running around, I can teleport more down, I just need space." Clint shook his head.
"You won't get everyone down. Just help destroy the robots for now." Y/n nodded. She shot a few more down, but they were coming close, and she couldn't fight off them all. While she ripped one in front of her in half, she felt something grab her from behind. She squealed as the metal tightened its grip and started to lift her up, but an arrow pierced through its head.
"Thanks Bartin, I owe you one." He smiled as he shot down another.
"I'll take one cake all for myself please." She smiled as she pushed more civilians to safer areas.
"Done deal."
Y/n dove to avoid shots from the robots. She hid behind a concrete slab that had fallen, and few seconds later Clint joined her. She smiled.
"Looks like we've backed ourselves into a corner." They both stared down the growing number of robots, preparing for the heavy fire when red mist ripped them in half. They were thrown to the side, torn, or just squished. Y/n popped her head up to see Wanda walking towards them.
"I knew you were cool!" Clint walked ahead and spoke over comms.
"We're all clear here." Steve answered back quickly.
"We are not clear! We are very not clear!" Clint raised his bow.
"Alright, coming to you." Pietro sped by and picked up his sister before running away.
"Keep up old man." Y/n smiled and waved before teleporting ahead of the pair. Clint raised his bow and pulled back the string in the way Pietro went.
"Nobody would know. Nobody. 'The last I saw Ultron was sitting on him. Yeah he'll be missed, that quick little bastard. I miss him already.'"
The trio arrived in the heat of the battle and started pulling apart the robots. Red mist was flying, blue blurs were all over the place, and orange flashes could be seen every few seconds. Pietro stopped and looked down at his arm. He threw up his arms in an 'come on man' kinda way to the one soldier who hadn't stopped shooting.
They all started herding people into one of the buildings. Suddenly, a SHIELD helicraft appeared. Smaller ships flew from the sides and came closer to the floating city. Pietro stood with a smile.
"This is SHIELD?" Y/n smiled.
"Well, this is what it's meant to be." Pietro grinned.
"This is not so bad."
Y/n started helping run groups of people onto the ships. She shot down robots that got near, and ran back and forth, to and from the building to the life rafts. She stopped as she heard Tony over the comms.
"Avengers, time to work for a living." She moved into the church and started ripping the robots in half. She would teleport next to them and throw them off their course, and make them miss their shots. She smiled as Nat came into the church.
"What's the drill?" Tony gestured to the core.
"This is the drill. If Ultron gets a hand in that core, we lose." Y/n cracked her neck.
"I always did love a good game of capture the flag." Ultron came flying down in front of them. Thor took a step forward.
"Is that the best you can do?" Hundreds of robots appeared behind him. Y/n sighed.
"You just had to ask." Ultron looked at them all.
"This, is the best I can do. This is exactly what I wanted. All of you, against all of me. How can you possibly hope to stop me?" Tony looked at Steve.
"Like the old man said, together."
The hulk roared and the robots started flying at them. There was a rain of shots, flashes of powers in all sorts of colours, and metal shining as it was tossed to the side. Time seemed to slow as people fought in the air and on the ground. Fists were flying, as were discarded parts. Slowly, the number of robots started to dwindle.
Steve turned to everyone still in the church.
"We gotta move out. Even I can tell the airs getting thin. You guys get to the boats, I'll sweep for stragglers. Be right behind you." Clint looked back at.
"What about the core?" Wanda stepped forward.
"I'll protect it. It's my job." Clint looked back at the rest of them.
"Nat? Y/n?" Both girls nodded and ran out alongside him. Nat and Clint jumped in a car, and left the door open for a second. Y/n shrugged.
"I'll just, zap over there." They both nodded and drove off. Y/n pictured the area in her mind and hoped that no one was in the spot she wanted to teleport to. Less than a second later she was at the spot, helping people to get on the rafts. She was on a boat when she saw Clint, on the one adjacent to hers, run off. She followed his path with her eyes to see a small boy. She watched as he raced off, jumping over prices of rubble and patches of fire.
She looked up in the air to see a plane firing a rain of bullets towards him. She looked over and saw Pietro with a look in his eye. No, she thought. He just got his life back, his sister back. She didn't think about what she did next. Even when she saw the blue blur start to come, she kept going. She pressed her cheeks and appeared in front of him.
Pietro stood there, waiting for impact, a chance to say his line, their line, but he didn't feel it. He looked up to see her. She was smiling.
"Hey Barton, I found another way to make us even."
Three bullet holes stood in her body.
Boom.
The left of her stomach.
Boom.
Her right lung.
Boom
Her left collarbone.
She fell to the ground, her eyes staring at the sky. She hummed quietly as Clint slowly kneeled over her.
"happy birthday to me
Happy birthday to me
This is the worst birthday ever"
She couldn't finish as Pietro picked her up and carried her to the raft. Clint ran over and handed the kid to his mother.
"Guys, Y/n's down. She's real bad."
Wanda felt the pain. The pain of her friend, someone who hasn't questioned her goodness even after she had tortured them. The pain of her brother, whose pain was almost worse than Y/n's. But most of all, she felt all her pain. Her home was going to destroy the earth or be destroyed, her only real friend was shot down because she helped Ultron, her life was the cause of destruction and chaos wherever she went.
She fell to her knees, collapsing under the weight of her emotions. A red bubble burst out around her, destroying all the robots around her. It was like they disintegrated in midair.
Steve ran over to Clint and looked at Y/n's lifeless body, her eyes blankly staring at the sky, a soft smile etched onto her face. Steve watched as her chest fluttered up and down. Wait, her chest was fluttering up and down! She was still breathing. Steve got doctors to rush over, and he made a silent prayer as they lifted her away. Clint patted him on the back before laying down on a small row of seats.
"It's been a long day."
