• CINDERELLA HAS BEEN FOUND! (THE WRONG ONE THOUGH) •
Sakura took a picture of every page in the recipe book. It was such a chore but stealing the book would be far too obvious. When she was done she took the mask and went out of Hinata's room to scheme up a plan.
It didn't take long for her to realize though, that even if she had the recipe for the cinnamon buns there is no way she could replicate it as good as Hinata's original ones with her meagre cooking skills.
Sakura quickly scrapped that plan and came up with another. Instead of going through the effort to bake the buns herself she could just get Hinata to do it!
During dinner that night Sakura told Hinata how she craved cinnamon buns and wanted her to make some. Clueless to the scheme in her sister's mind, Hinata promised to make some for her the next day.
She did, even packed it up in a pretty pink box for Sakura to take to school the next day. The rosette's cackle was mistaken for a delighted laugh as she snatched the box from Hinata's hands and ran out of the house with a flimsy word of thanks.
Sakura arrived at school early and replaced the pink box with a purple one she got from Ino because it made more sense if the box matched the dress the not so mysterious girl wore that night. Afterwards she left it on Sasuke's table with a note. Her plan was going smoothly.
-
The box was the first thing Sasuke noticed when he entered the classroom. Nobody was inside the room because he always arrived very early to avoid the fan girls but apparently, someone beat him at his own game.
The dark haired boy wouldn't have paid the box any mind if not for the aroma wafting from it. It smelled like... Sasuke gasped. Could it be? He opened the box and found the treasure he had been looking for all week; cinnamon buns!
Just to be sure he wasn't jumping the gun and getting excited for no reason, he brought one to his mouth and tasted it. His joy knew no bounds. This was it! This was the taste he had actually been searching for! Onyx eyes caught sight of the note attached to the box.
Meet me by the pond in Indra park after school today.
It wasn't signed but it didn't need to be. The cinnamon buns were sign enough for him.
"You're smiling. Have they found a new species of flying pigs?"
There goes his happy, solitary moment.
Sasuke sighed as Naruto barreled into the classroom and sat himself in front of him. His blue gaze caught sight of the bun in his hand and the ones on the table and he gasped. "You're eating sweets! Gimme- ack!"
His tan hand was slapped away when he reached for the box on the table. Sasuke possessively took it away from his reach. "Get your filthy hands off it, Dobe!"
"Aww Teme you aren't seriously holding out on me, are you? Please let me have just one. Please?" Naruto begged his best friend with dog eyes which– let me let you in on a secret– Sasuke was weak to.
The dark haired one rolled his eyes. "Fine. You can take one." He extended the box to his friend.
"Sasuke, I love you!" Naruto exclaimed gratefully and promptly chomped down on the creamy, cinnamon-y goodness. "So delicious! Can I have another one?" He pleaded.
"In your dreams." Sasuke deadpanned.
"So stingy." Naruto pouted before his face took on a serious look. "Is this the one you've been searching for?" He asked. Sasuke nodded.
"I don't know if this is just a coincidence but it tastes just like the one I had when I was younger."
"Really? I think it tastes like Hin–" Naruto was interrupted by Sai opening the door.
"Running away from me would do you no good, Sasuke." The pale one announced much to his cousin's displeasure. He might be able to shake off fangirls by waking up extra early to get to school but Sai was not easily dissuaded.
"It was worth a shot." Sasuke grumbled.
Soon the class started filling out and the dreaded fangirls surrounded Sasuke once again. When Naruto announced that he'd found his mystery girl though, all of them dispersed, crying. The blond's agenda might've been to attract the crowd to himself but it ended being for Sasuke's good.
During extra curricular activities, Naruto went to the home economics lab where he was sure to meet Hinata cooking something up again. An automatic grin pulled his lips when he saw the ravenette focused on chopping some vegetables he didn't bother to know the name of.
"Hinata, guess what?!" He exclaimed as he went inside.
The girl startled upon his arrival but then her face slid into an easy smile. "Hello Naruto. What's up?"
"Sasuke found his princess!" Naruto announced joyfully. His attention was caught by a plate of seasoned minced meat though, so whatever he was saying stopped there. "Hey what are you making today?" He asked, pointing to the meat.
"Stuffed peppers." Hinata said simply and pointed at him. "You're going to help."
"Me?!" Naruto groaned lazily. "But I've learned how to make ramen!"
Hinata giggled at his antics. "Naruto, you can't live on only ramen forever."
"I can. Try me." Naruto insisted while Hinata laughed. It was no use arguing with him about anything that concerned ramen so she left the topic there. All of a sudden Naruto remembered what he was saying about Sasuke and perked up. "That's right! You know the mystery Cinderella girl Sasuke has been looking for? He found her."
Hinata was confused. "He was looking for her?" She didn't know that.
"Of course! He found her today. Well technically he found her cinnamon buns and a note from her. Who do you think it will be?" Naruto's question was lost on Hinata.
The blond didn't know but she was the girl Sasuke and the whole school was looking for. So just who did Sasuke find if not for her?
"And by the way the buns tasted so much like yours, I thought it was you for a sec. But then I remembered that you didn't attend the party so it couldn't be you which sucks because your food would've won and gotten promoted but it's okay anyway. I could promote your ... Hinata?" Naruto stopped rambling when he realised that the girl wasn't following him.
Did Naruto just say that the buns tasted like hers? Her mother's recipe was a unique one made by techniques only she knew. It was practically impossible to replicate the exact thing from just following the recipe. The only way the buns could taste just like hers was if she baked it herself.
And she did so today. For Sakura.
Hinata gasped in horror. So Sakura knew that she attended the ball!
