🍱 Chapter 11 🍱
• THE BALL; PRINCE CHARMING S PERSPECTIVE •
Sasuke held the mysterious latecomer in his arms like she was precious gold. He couldn't see any detail about her, not even the colour of her eyes, from the clothes she wore.
It consisted of an expensive lavender dress and a sleek veil that obscured everyone from seeing the colour of her hair and went along well with her dress at the same time. Even her mask had tinted glass covering the eyeholes.
Whoever made her outfit deserved a kudos, Sasuke groused mentally and sarcastically. It's okay though, he just has to find out more about her by talking to her so he led her to do a twirl and brought her back to his side.
"So..."
"Uhm ..."
It seemed like the both of them had the same idea of speaking after the twirl. They laughed at the coincidence, both of nervousness because neither could start conversations decently. Fortunately for them the dance floor was big enough to allow them their space.
Neither of them spoke again in case the other wanted to talk but when Sasuke saw that the silence was dragging out he made up his mind and spoke to her.
"So did you make the buns yourself or did you get help?" He asked the girl inquisitively. This was an important question to him as well as a means of discovering whether the girl was for real or not.
The girl lit up at the question, Sasuke could tell by how her shoulders rose by a fraction. "I did, following my mother's recipe." She replied happily. "She used to make the best pastries in Konoha but then again I might be biased because she's my mother...uhm so basically, yeah I made them myself."
She finished with nervous laugh when she realised that she was rambling. Sasuke chuckled at that. "I don't doubt that, that your mum made the best pastries I mean!" He added hastily when the double meaning of his words registered.
She also chuckled at him. "Thank you." They continued to dance to the music in silence while Sasuke fervently pondered on what next to say to the girl. Holding conversations were so hard!
Our raven haired prince would realise later that asking for her name was a good way to start. Unfortunately for him the girl suddenly startled when a ding went off between them.
It was then Sasuke noticed that a small purse was strapped to her waist. He thought that it was a part of her dress.
"Excuse me." She removed a phone from the purse and checked the new notification that entered. She squeaked in alarm at what she read. "I-I'm really sorry, I have to go!" She exclaimed.
"W-what?! Wait! Can I meet you again sometime?!" Sasuke yelled after the running girl. Everyone at the party made way for the two of them to pass, all puzzled by what was going on.
The girl kept running. "We can always meet at school!" She yelled back at him and ran faster away from him. Man could she run!
By the time Sasuke got to the front door the mystery girl was already getting into a car. "Wait!" The boy hurried after her. "What's your name?!" Unfortunately for him the girl shut the door on him and the car drove off.
Sasuke groaned in annoyance at his poor social skills. He thought he finally found the one!
"Sasuke." Naruto came to stand beside Sasuke who was looking at his house gate forlornly. "I thought you had a moment back there. What happened?"
The raven sighed in dejection. "I found the one, Naruto." He replied mechanically. The blond was puzzled.
"Isn't that a good thing?" He asked. Sasuke nodded. "Then why...?"
"I didn't get any information off her."
Naruto, the idiot, started laughing hysterically at him for his poor social skills. A glare from the raven caused him to shut up. Right, this matter is serious.
"So how are you going to search without any lead?" He asked.
"She goes to our school, apparently." Sasuke replied. The resulting grin from his friend was too blinding for his eyes. He saw the side hug coming from a mile away but he couldn't dodge it. He and his poor luck.
"You're lucky, my friend! Searching for her would be a piece of cake. Just announce that you're looking for the girl you danced with today."
"I hardly see that as a good idea." Sasuke deadpanned. Naruto side hugged him closer.
"Let me land, princess. Oof!" He received a jab to the side for that. "Ow, teme that hurt! Anyway since we only invited a handful of girls finding your girl would be easy. You just need to ask for proof or something, use your bug brain to figure that part out."
"Hn." Sasuke carried Naruto's arm off his shoulder and stepped aside. "If this turns out to be a bad idea I'd cut off every supply of ramen that you have."
A scandalized gasp tore out of Naruto's mouth. "That is impossible but you wouldn't dare." It is literally impossible though since Naruto's father is the president.
"Hn." Sasuke grunted.
The best buds would have remained outside had Sai not come to fetch them. Everyone else at the party were already worried so they had to go back. Naruto pat Sasuke's shoulder twice before they entered the house.
"Don't sweat it, you'd find her." He consoled his best friend.
"I hope that'd be soon." Sasuke sighed ruefully.
"It would! Trust lord Naruto's super intuition and know that what I say would come to pass!" With that the blond erupted into a gleeful laughter that was, no matter how hard Sasuke tried to prevent it, contagious. He laughed in his own Uchiha way.
He would not admit it out loud to the blond dobe but he was glad he had a friend like Naruto. Now that you know don't go prattling on to Naruto or else you'd see Sasuke in your dreams. Shhhh.
