Tyler arrived home just in time for his stepfamily to return from the ball. They handed him their gloves and fans before sitting at the table.

"Did you enjoy the ball?" Tyler asked as he tidied everything.

"It was magical." Kelly said.

"Romantic." Madison said.

"Eh." Zack and Jay said.

"It became extremely boring when Josh started dancing with that mysterious boy." Madison said.

"Were they in love?" Tyler asked.

"Very much."

"He was a dreamy guy." Zack said. "I have to give him that."

"I would too." Jay added.

"Tell me Tyler." Kelly said. "What did you do while we were away?"

Tyler smiled.

"I was dreaming."

Madison scoffed.

"About you at the ball, dancing with Josh."

"I imagined it inside my head." Tyler said; walking closer to the table.

"What do you imagine?" Madison asked.

Soon everyone leaned close.

"I imagine, I imagine,"

"He is tall." Tyler said.

"And straight as a lance." Jay said.

"His eyes."

Madison sighed.

"Can melt you with a glance."

"Yes I can picture the whole thing how you start thinking." Tyler said.

"Start thinking what?" Zack asked.

"Thinking how wonderful it all is." Tyler replied.

Kelly stood up.

"How wonderful it all is?"

"Everything." Tyler said, sighing.

Kelly slapped her hand on the table.

"ENOUGH OF THIS NONSENSE!" She yelled. "Children, go upstairs and get some sleep!"

Tyler walked up to his stepmother, but before he could ask something, Kelly slapped him in the face.

"I don't want to hear anymore of your silly stories. You don't know anything because you weren't there!"

Tears dripped down Tyler's cheeks.

"You don't know how to be a mother." He said.

"I don't care what you say." Kelly said.

She handed him a broom.

"Get to work! I don't care if it takes you all night."

Kelly went upstairs. Tyler started sweeping. He started to think about the ball. And Josh.

"I don't mind sweeping." He said. "This night is mine and no one and nothing can take it from me."
