17: Family

Cinderella's POV

"Arthur," I answered gently, while watching him run to me. "Having fun meeting my family?"

"I did not," he said with a deadpan face. "What happened?" He had a calm face, but I could feel his rage radiating off of him. He looked ready to murder someone. I wonder why...

"Long story," I answered. He didn't reply verbally but picked me up (princess or bridle style or whatever it's called).

"You're injured," he murmured, carrying me inside the palace, ignoring everyone else.

He went to his own room (I know what his room looks like, I've visited his room when we were kids) and set me on a chair. He called in a several maids who proceeded to clean me.

(Author-chan here. All you need to know is Cinderella took a bath, wore a proper dress, and had her legs and arms treated.)

I was sitting on Arthur's bed as my legs were being bandaged (just so you know where I am in the room).

After I had been treated by the nurse, Arthur had calmed everyone down (his father, my brother, and my stepfamily). He then requested his father and mother to come into the room.

"Father, Mother, this is Cinderella, the daughter of Duke Frederick. If you remember, she used to come visit us frequently whenever Duke Frederick came to speak about business," Arthur said.

"Of course I remember!" Samantha said cheerfully, smiling at me. "I even recall all those cute times you and Arthur were together!"

"Thank you... Your majesty," I said carefully.

"Good to finally meet you, Cinderella," King Richard said kindly, extending a hand to shake mine. "I think you two are a good match."

"Thank you, your majesty," I replied, tilting my head to look up at this really tall king. He was broad shouldered, slightly taller than his son (Arthur) and had a very gentlemanly look. I could even see the resemblance there.

"Good choice, Arthur!" His mother exclaimed, patting his shoulder forcefully. "I knew you would have the guts to get her!"

Very unqueenly...

"Son, come with me for a moment," King Richard said, gesturing Arthur to follow. "I just want a word."

The two left, and instantly, the queen was literally questioning and talking to me like there was no tomorrow.

"I used to talk to your mother often about how you two would be so cute if you two got married," she said, smiling exuberantly.

"Was that one of the reasons why you told my father to bring me every time he came to the palace?" I asked.

"Why yes! It was soooo cute! Arthur would always wait for you back then! He would sit on the couch in the lobby, and when your father finally brought you in, he looked so happy when you came over to play and talk with him!"

"That's really sweet of him," I said, smiling. "I remember he was really kind to me."

The Quene Samantha cackled in laughter. "Oh sure! He was definitely very sweet to you, my dear. He even told me he like you." I felt my face go hot, but I laughed at her words.

"Cinderella, I just wanted you to know, I love you as my own daughter, though I wish I had one, and there are no words to express the fact that I'm happy Arthur chose you," she said in a motherly way.

More then I can count, I really miss my own mother. She reminds me of her...

"Thank you, your--"

"Call me Mother."

"Thank you,...Mother." She grinned and hugged me warmly.

"I hope you two have a good marriage, and please make sure to take care of my son, okay?" She looked sad for a moment before smiling gently at me. "As much as I regret it, I never had enough time to watch over Arthur. I am a queen, and those Councilors just don't get it that I'm a mother too."

"Don't worry, Mother. I'll definitely take good care of him," I promised.

"And my grandchildren," she teased. I actually blushed at that. "You're so cute!" She squished my bright red cheeks playfully, just as Arthur came in to see my red face.
