10: Surprise

Cinderella's POV

"Well...when I gave you my address, I didn't actually expect for you to actually come," I greeted Arthur in surprise. He wore similar clothing he wore yesterday. Instead of black and white, he wore red and black. Nice elegant colors.

"Good evening, Cinderella. I didn't feel like attending the ball. Too many girls clung to me," he said, straightening himself. I looked more closely and noticed his shirt was slightly wrinkled. "Besides, when you didn't come, I..." He trailed off, looking highly embarrassed.

"What? Tell me," I said, grinning.

"I-I was scared you might stay away...again."

"No worries. I'm right here. An annoying problem came up." He wrapped me in a hug before creasing his brow in worry.

"What happened?" I smiled gently, while reaching up to press my fingers against his brow, smoothing out the skin.

"Eh, long story short, Stepmother went ahead and shredded my dresses, so I'm making a dress as fast as I can before tomorrow comes," I explained.

"Wait...you're...making a dress?" He repeated in surprise.

"Yeah. Come on in anyways," I said, opening the door wider and letting him in.

Ten minutes later, we were in the dining room, drinking tea. After explaining more in detail about my problem, Arthur quickly came up with an idea.

"I could have your dress made if we go to the palace," he said. "Just bring the cloth and your dress will be ready in no time. Then, while the dress is being made, I could loan you one if my mother's dresses for this evening if you wish to attend the ball."

I sat in silence for awhile, thinking about what he said.

"I'd take up your offer to have your seamstresses make the dress, but I don't know about wearing your mother's dress..." I trailed off.

"I understand. Then would you mind being my company for this evening?" He offered.

"What?"

"What I mean is, instead of attending the ball, you could be my guest, I'd give you a tour around the palace."

"Without any annoying family members?" I asked eagerly. Arthur smiled.

"No one else. Just you and me." What he said made me go hot, but I broke into a smile.

"Okay then!"

(Author-chan skipping to the tour.)

I stood in front of the mirror, speechless. In the end, I still wore one of Arthur's mother's gowns. He said this dress was the "simplest" and not as "extravagant."

The dress I am currently wearing is in the picture above.

"You look beautiful, Cinderella," the elder prince said, leaning against the doorway. He had switched his red clothing for turquoise colored clothing instead to match with me.

"I-I don't know what to say," I said, stuttering like a shy person (which I probably was at that point). I coughed and tried to stay firm.

"Then don't and stay beautiful," he said sweetly, coming towards me. "You're doing a good job of it already." My face felt hot, but I found myself smiling at what he said.

"Okay then. Shall we go?" I asked.

 "Of course."

Time skip

When the ball ended, Arthur had already brought me back home. He told me to keep the dress, which ended up in my room after great reluctance, but I must admit, I had a lot of fun. My dress wasn't done yet, but I could get it a few hours before tomorrow's ball.

Now, I'm going to get ready for bed, but of course, like always...

"CINDERELLA!" Getting ready for bed is still along way off.
