Chapter three

-Fennel's POV-

It was easy to lead the way, the castle was very unique and it's route easily remembered. Though I went off the path a couple of times to give Cinder some time to forget her troubles, we still made it there quite quickly.

They grey stone walls were crumbling and moss and ivy were growing in any cracks it could find. I had checked this place out a couple days ago when I was gathering fire wood and I saw no signs of life then, why would there be any now? I saw no point in checking for danger

-Cinder's POV-

It was amazing. Its destruction had become something beautiful. If only I could do that.

I looked around, "Should we do a perimeter check?"

She shook her head, "No, it was empty the other day. We should be fine." She smiled and continued to walk.

As we got closer I saw an entrance. It looked as if it had once been beautiful marble making a large majestic arc. I looked up at it and ran my hand along its engravings, now old, weathered, and dull. Even then it was majestic. I wondered how something so beautiful was so empty.

Fennel looked at me inquiringly. She must have seen something in my expression, because she said, "Ok, fine. It you're that concerned we'll check."

I looked up from the beautiful purple flower that I was inspecting, looking at where it grew from a wall, "Ok, I'll take the inside." With one last glance at the flower I went to a dark corridor and made a fire ball in my hand for lighting. I nodded at Fennel and she left to check the perimeter as I walked inside.
