Jade

She felt so light, like a feather. Like the lightest breeze would lift her off her feet.

Jade could fly if she wanted to. She was almost sure of it.

She sprinted across Cilyber City, only it was a different city; beautiful, with trees and plants and people and animals, all pure, whole, not synthetic. The sky was clear light blue, the clouds puffy and bright white.

She felt true happiness. This was her life. Not the nightmare of filth and dirt, bombs and death, metal and plastic.

She looked up at the bright blue sky. A flock of birds glided overhead in perfect formation.

Then they were falling, dropping like stones. Only they weren't birds anymore, they were large metal rods.

Jade looked down. The street was already deserted.

The bombs whistled over her head, and she screamed, but no sound came out. Instead, she was instantly coated in a bright green surface. The entire city glowed green, red, blue, and purple.

So when the entire city was torn down to shreds, only jade, ruby, diamond, lapis, sapphire, and amethyst survived.
