"Your queen is here and she brought company!" Rose yelled while walking through the green flames of the fire place at Grimmauld Place, not suspecting both boys to already be sitting on the couch nor her grandmother to be in the arm chair. She startled the two boys from the volume of her voice while her grandmother just sighed heavily.
Theo shot her a lazy smirk while Whitman just tiredly grinned, one Rose returned before her eyes trailed over to Walburga who sat with her corset off and long black curls out of the usual high fashion bun.
They all seemed to notice the large black dog by her feet at once, Walburga speaking with distaste at the animal staring at herself. "What is that thing?"
Rose's lips lifted as she bent down in front of the dog face, "It's a dog grandmother-isn't he precious?"
"He's horrid looking Rosalie" Walburga's lips curled at the smell it was radiating, sitting up straight with urgency as Rose squished the dogs cheeks together. "Stop touching that filthy thing!"
Rose turned on her heels with a smirk, running her hand down the spine of the fluffy dog. "Oh come on! Go say hi boy! Give her some kisses!"
"No!" Walburga scolded, pointing a accusatory finger down at the animal that made Theo and Whitman laugh under their breath. "Stay away!"
"Go on," Rose urged, "Show my grandmother how sweet you are"
The dog neared, who was actually Sirius Black contemplating biting his mothers face off. "I will kill it Rosalie!"
'It' growled and Rose threw her head back with laughter as she tugged the dog back towards herself, "He must not like you"
"Then he must have awful taste!" Walburga said firmly, a faint smirk coming onto her face as Rose grinned up at her. "Now get it out of my sight"
Rose immediately frowned, feeling comfort as she hugged her arms around the dogs neck. "Please let me keep him!"
Walburga had a idea as she relaxed back in her chair, "That dog will eat Kreacher-do you wish for that dear?"
Rose gasped dramatically, enticing a eye roll from Whitman. "Oh no" she pulled away from the dog, patting his head. "You find me at Hogwarts then, Hm?"
All three occupants assumed as anyone would that the dog could not comprehend her, but they wouldn't dare break her delusional beliefs about animals.
Except the dog did understand, and he would find her.
Sirius nudged Rose's chin before licking her cheek, making Walburga grimace. Then he trotted away, snapping his jaws fiercely at Walburga before continuing his trot towards the exit of the lounge.
Rose blinked rapidly as the sound of his heavy footsteps in the hall towards the door could be heard, "Does he....know his way around?"
"Hm...maybe it has a few more brain cells than the average beast" Walburga stated, kicking up her heeled feet onto ottoman. "Took you a while to get home after your discomforting disappearance-thankfully Theodore handled your speech"
Those words brought Rose back to reality, Theo and Whitman stiffening with the unknown of how Walburga would react.
"Couldn't do it-miss him too much already" Rose pushed herself up off her knees while nearing Walburga, "Are you alright?"
Walburga waved her off, "Yeah yeah I am perfectly fine...I'm sure Orion will be haunting me from the grave as he promised"
An odd love was what they shared, and a awfully toxic one.
Rose frowned again, touching her grandmothers shoulder softly. "I'll miss him too-like I said"
"Don't frown dear-you'll give yourself frown lines" Walburga placed her own hand over top of Rose's with zero emotion slipping past her mask, "Now go on and do what I know you've been dying to do"
Rose smiled widely while turning to find Theo and Whitman both grinning at and waiting for the inevitable as Walburga lifted a hand up-making a book fly off the self and into her palms.
Rose suddenly rushed the couch, flinging her body in between them before pulling both into the most bone-crushing hug, resulting in their heads clinking together as they groaned.
She pulled away at the sound, holding a hand behind each of their heads while she studied them carefully like a worried mother would.
"Why are you groaning like a pair of babies?" Rose wondered aloud, frowning at them.
Whitman gave her a dumbfounded look and Theo only grinned at her like she could do no wrong, Walburga making a noise of amusement as she opened up her book.
"You banged our heads together like a couple of pinballs and your calling us babies?!" Whitman said appalled.
"Felt like a boulder crash" Theo murmured, wrapping his arm around her waist to bring Rose closer.
"It'll give you both some extra brain cells" Rose retorted with a shrug.
Whitman laughed slightly because of how ludicrous it sounded as he reached down and pulled Rose's legs onto his lap-forcing her to lean over Theo's lap with her head on the arm rest.
"I could die happy with you two right now and I wouldn't regret a single thing" Rose said after a few moments of settling in and sighing happily, shutting her eyes as Whitman started to take off her chunky heeled combat boots.
Both boys shared a look, knowing she was meant to be joking. But each knew better, they all meant more to each other than anything. With fucked up families and zero emotional or physical love, all they had was one another. Now she didn't even have any bit of her fucked up family left except a psychotic grandmother.
But she did have them.
Whitman Rosier who moved in when Rose was thirteen because his family were full of disgraceful humans who were the cause of his transformation but once realizing how hard it was began treating him as a creature instead of a child. Walburga knew what happened and took him in regardless because she wanted to give at him a chance at keeping his pureblood life. Ultimately with the surprising help of a thirteen year old Rose, Theo, and Draco-Walburga decided to destroy the Rosier family so know no one would ever know the true reason of Whitman's departure. No one would dare question the word of Walburga Black as she began to tell them the Rosier's were secret blood-traitors who sympathized with muggle-borns.
It was a seamless operation.
Then there was Theodore Nott Jr. who had the most putrid man Rose had ever met as his father, making Lucius Malfoy look like child's play. His mother, Eleanor Nott, passed when he was only nine. She was one of the only good parts about the sacred twenty eight, a bright and gentle woman.
Not only was Walburga's presence the reason of Sirius's unsettling gut twist while in the house, but also the two sons of the worst men he knew.
"Please, take your time darling, we aren't expecting to hear why you found a massive dog and brought him here" Theo began as her eyes stayed closed, seeming to avoid the subject.
"It's..complicated" Rose yawned out, her eyebrows furrowing together as she recalled the night with Draco. Her facial expression made them smile softly as Whitman ran his fingers down her leg soothingly and Theo lifted her head off the armrest to put his arm under her.
Rose looked up at the boys and sighed, knowing she had to give in. "He was at Hogwarts, wouldn't even found him if Dumbledore didn't give me permission to come onto school grounds at any time"
Both boys looked at her expectantly waiting for her to continue. But she only looked at the ceiling, refusing to meet their eye.
"Whit, I think Ro is hiding something from us don't you?"
"I think she is Theo, and I'm quite baffled she would hide anything from us"
"Fine!" said Rose, louder than intended, startling both boys and garnering an eye roll from Walburga who had been lost in the pages of a book.
Whitman ceased his movements on her leg and leaned towards Theo to whisper, "Are you as appalled as me?"
Rose smacked Whitmans chest to push him away from Theo, "First off Whitman if you don't resume your movement immediately I will chop off your fingers. Second of all I was with Draco when I found the dog. And No, I do not wish to discuss it! We managed to spend four hours on that tower together only fighting twice"
Both boys draws dropped, literally dropped.
"Stop looking at me like that! I was in a different state of mind after running away from the funeral!" Rose attested, "He came after me so we smoked and sat in silence mostly! Today has mind-fucked me!"
Both boys busted out laughing at Rose, unable to contain their amusement.
Rose grabbed a pillow from the floor and screamed into it, "I hate you both!"
*
An hour passed of Rose staying sprawled out on both boys, almost dozing off from Theo's fingers tracing her face as he read the book Walburga tossed him and Whitman's touch on her leg that had slowed. Walburga exited not long ago, claiming exhaustion and the need for rest.
Rose's body jerking as she realized sleep was almost taking her over startled Whitman who was half asleep, the bags under his eyes showing through. The full moon nearing starting to truly take it's toll on him.
She sighed and then looked over to Whitman who was slightly snoring before glancing at Theo and nudging her head at him.
Theo tiredly peaked up from the book, "I can take him upstairs, I know he's exhausted"
"No, no let me take him" Rose interjected, "I need to make sure the fan is working in there too or he will burn up...plus he's clingy when the full moon nears"
Theo simply nodded in understanding and returned back to his book. Rose sat up off Theo's lap, pecking his jaw before gently shaking Whitman awake. He looked up at her with a goofy but sleepy grin on his face, making one spread out on her own. "Let's go upstairs love, you need your rest-rest in a bed"
She knew he would resist walking to sleep on the couch without her demanding.
Whitman gave a slight nod and reached his arms out to her as she stood in front of him. Pulling him off the crouch was a task in itself but Rose proved successful. After, she flung his left arm around her shoulders while putting a tight right arm around his waist.
Climbing the stairs was simpler than one would believe because their rooms were only on the second floor, but still exhausting considering Rose was practically carrying the lanky boy.
When she reached his door she slung it open while slightly tumbling into the darkness before kicking it shut with her foot.
After sitting Whitman on the bed she began to take off his shoes while he just looked at her with solemness written on his face. She got up quickly and started rummaging through his drawers until she found a black pair of sweat pants and oversized Metallica shirt that always gave Walburga a fit.
While walking back over to his bed they made eye contact, silently asking a question. He nodded at Rose, and she began their nightly routine they did when it got close to the full moon.
Rose pulled off his dress slacks with a familiar ease and put them in the floor with his shoes before beginning to gently slip on his black sweatpants until they were fully in place. Then, she nodded at him again with the signal that it was time for the part he never enjoyed before sliding closer to put her hands under his back and count.
"One, two, three"
He slightly lifted and she pulled him all the way into the bed, sliding some extra pillows under his back to keep him sitting up instead of letting him lean against the rough wooden headboard.
"I can't believe you wanted me to let you fall asleep in that horrid funeral outfit" Rose sighed, shaking her head as she sat by his side on the bed.
Whitman just looked at her and in that moment he felt so much gratefulness for the girl. Even if he was the parent per say in their trio, she was the one who always took care of him.
And never once did she look at him differently when he became a werewolf, if anything he was sure she had never showed so much love. Which confused him, he was a monster-well aware of that fact.
Rose began to slip off his black suit jacket, carelessly throwing it in the floor with the rest of his clothes. She looked up after and made eye contact with him before starting on his black button up, hoping if he focused on her he wouldn't feel as much pain.
As she started to undo the buttons, Rose didn't look away. Instead she leaned her forehead against his and whispered, "We'll be okay-right?"
"I'll protect you no matter what"
She nodded with their foreheads still pressed together before pulling back to slip his button down off his shoulders. As she did her cold fingers trailed against his burning hot skin, sending chills down across his skin.
He sucked in a deep breathe before speaking, "Don't put the shirt on me yet just-just please help me cool down"
Rose nodded, she completely understood. After seven years of full moons, you get used to doing a lot of weird things.
She got off the bed and instantly turned on his huge floor fan before making her way to the light switch to turn on the ceiling fan, creating as much cool air possible. As she walked back over to Whitman, she pulled the extra pillows out from under him and settled him on his back before going around to the other side of the bed to crawl in next to him.
Once she was in bed Rose picked up his legs, pulling the silky green comforter over them. After she got Whitman covered Rose began to pull him onto his side with a gentle touch.
Finally she was able to lay down facing him.
"Tell me if this helps, okay Whit?"
He nodded whispering, "Okay Ro"
Rose began to put both her hands on his chest, the action making him suck in a sharp breath. He whispered again, this time hoarsely. "It's more relieving than those damned fans"
She nodded with a smile spreading across her face as she began to move her hands around his chest but slowly, not wanting to create friction and make her icy hands heat up.
She began to rub one hand down his arm and put the other on his cheek, whispering in the same tone he used. "You haven't been this warm in so long....I have a feeling this one going to be a rough one"
The realization made her sigh and move her hands back to his chest while beginning to move them up and down, repeating her actions. Whitman's jaw tensed when pain shot through his back, "Hold me until I fall asleep please"
His voice sound so pained that it made her gut twist as she began to pull him into her, shifting to lay down on her back. He stopped her midway though, mocking the words from earlier. "You can't sleep with those horrid funeral clothes on"
She cracked a smile, "I didn't realize you wanted me to sleep up here tonight, but of course I will"
He flopped on his back as he waited for her to take them off. The only light in the room was the two lamps on either side of his bed as Rose pulled the black silk dress over her head, chunking it across the room with such force that Whitman quietly laughed.
This wasn't unusual for the two, Whitman never made her feel uncomfortable when changing in front of him.
She reached around the bed until finding the Metallica shirt she got out for him and slipped it over her body, flopping down on her back with a sigh shortly after.
"Come here you big bad wolf"
Whitman instantly started moving into the girl's open arms. He curled himself around her, wrapping his arms around her waist before laying his head on her chest, placing his legs over top of her own.
"Promise me I'm not suffocating you Ro" he said with that consistent whisper tone.
"No Whit, but for someone burning up your awfully cuddly"
He sighed, hugging onto her more tightly as she began scratching his back with the hope it could help lull him to sleep so he wouldn't have to feel the undeserved ache in his body, "I don't care if I'm burning up, I just want to be held by my favorite girl"
Rose pressed a kiss to his forehead as her usual sense of duty to never leave the boys side came into her mind, it wouldn't matter how hard life got she wouldn't abandon him. He knew that too, "Let's get some rest Whit"
"Will you promise to stay the whole night?" He mumbled quietly, already drifting off.
"I'm never going anywhere love"
