Dan didn't need it.
He didn't need all the looks of pity and he certainly didn't need everyone asking him questions they already knew the answer to. Word had gotten out, or maybe they saw it on the news. It didn't matter, everyone knew what he did. Or at least what he tried to do.
Three months. That's how long that kept him in the hospital for. Three fucking months. Even after they sent him home with a mountain of pills, they were still hesitant to let him leave. You would think that they wouldn't give him any pills at all, they were the reason he was even in this situation. People are stupid, Dan decided while walking to English, ignoring the people around him.
Then he was there.
He stood infront of Dan with a hand behind his back. His blue eyes hovered over Dan and a purple sweater was covering his visible wrist. He looked nervous but held a strong grin.
Dan rolled his eyes, "Yes I am fine, you don't need to ask now can you move i-"
Flowers.
The boy held out flowers. They look like they were just picked from the school grounds, tall green stalks with tiny white petals.
"Hi I'm Phil, these are for you,"
Dan took the flowers, the dew cold on his heated fingers. No one had ever given him flowers before. He quickly scrunched up his face to hide the pink tinge that had rushed to his cheeks.
"Look I don't know what you think you're doing but I'd stop. Now. If I were you."
"Well you're not me, and I intend to be here for at least the rest of the school year, Danny," Phil stated cheerfully.
"How do you know my name?" Phil's face fell, for a split second, but Dan just continued,
"Just stay out of my way pretty boy,"
He never saw the way Phil's face lifted as he ran to class, eyes monitoring his every move.

Phil didn't take the hint, Dan decided as the boy slid in front of his locker, blocking his way.
Dan rolled his eyes, "Can I help you?" Phil wore a black sweater today, even though it was 40°c outside (I live in Australia leave me be).
"Hopefully, I'm looking for a tall depressing boy, about 6.3"?" Dan pushed pass him, rolled his eyes again when Phil caught up to him. It didn't matter what it was about, Lester was always talking. And Dan didn't want to listen.
"Nope sorry never heard of him." Dan stated sarcastically. He began walking quicker in an attempt to loose the older.
"Well, if you do see him, tell him I'm taking him out to the Halloween Party in two days," Dan stopped and his face in a permanent scowl, Phil turned to him,
"And why the fuck would I go to that?"
"I want to help you."
"What's your problem? You think I'm some sort of project you need to fix?! Just stay the fuck away from me Lester."

He should of thrown them out.
The flowers. It would over made things a hell of a lot easier later. But instead they sat in a glass jar, mocking him with the thoughts of the other boy. But God Phil was fucking annoying. Dan had problems yes, but they were his. His problems. Not Phil's. And he loved to ask meaningless questions like Are you okay? How are you feeling? Dan was obviously not okay. He hadn't been since
His breath caught in his throat. Dan shook his head and looked at the pills his older sister had brought in.
He didn't get to pour his pills anymore. Dan wasn't even allowed to know where they were kept. He threw them all into his mouth, dispight it being a stupid idea. The water flushed down his throat, leaving a metal taste from the medications.
Dan pulled open his bedside table to find a packet of cigarettes. He lit one, filling his lungs with the warm smoke. Dan exhaled towards the flowers, the only bright side of the room. Cigarettes and daisies.
