When Inquisitor Amberley Vail tasked Commissar Ciaphas Cain and the 597th Valhallan Regiment  to infiltrate a Necron Tomb World, he wanted to say no. But his reputation as "Hero Of The Imperium" and his personal relationship with the Inquisitor made him say yes. At this point in his career as Commissar, Ciaphas Cain had seen and survived many horrors that the Galaxy had to offer. But it was the Necrons that he wanted to avoid at all costs. But as an Imperial Transport Ship arrived at the aforementioned Tomb World, Ciaphas Cain was mentally preparing himself for the mission ahead when his trusted companion Ferik Jurgen approached him. 

Jurgen: We're approaching the Tomb World, Commissar Cain. The men are awaiting your speech. 

Ciaphas Cain: R...right. Thank you, Jurgen. I will be there in a moment. 

Jurgen leaves Cain's quarters as the Commissar takes a few moments to steel his nerves as he approaches the men and women of the 597th Valhallan Regiment. The Guardsmen cheered as Cain gestures them to quiet down. 

Ciaphas Cain: Men, I won't lie to you. This mission takes us to deep into a Necron Tomb World. It is likely that some of us will not be coming back. But make no mistake. Against all odds, we have survived what most thought would be suicide missions. But by the Throne, we will endure! 

Valhallan Guardsmen: CI CI CIAPHAS CAIN! HERO THE THE IMPERIUM! CI CI CIAPHAS CAIN! HERO THE THE IMPERIUM!

Ciaphas Cain: Yeah! Yeah. Yeah.....

With that, Ciaphas Cain prepared himself and his men as the transport ship entered the Tomb World. But what none of them realized was this was no ordinary Necron Tomb World. This Tomb World was none other than Solemnace: Tomb World of Necron Overlord Trazyn The Infinite. Meanwhile on Solemnace, Trazyn Infinite looks over his latest display. The display features a device of unknown origin which was rumored to have the ability to traverse within the vast Multiverse. He had acquired this device in the midst of a battle between the Imperium and the Eldar. 

Trazyn The Infinite: Fascinating....

As Trazyn The Infinite inspects the device, Solemnace's warning systems begin going off. Realizing that something breeched his Tomb World, Trazyn investigates the source of the disturbance. Meanwhile, Ciaphas Cain and the Valhallan Regiment land of Solemnace and began navigating through the Necron Tomb World, inadvertently triggering Solemnace's warning systems. 

Ciaphas Cain: Steady, men! Keep your guard up!

The Valhallan Regiment follows the Commissar's lead as they navigate through Solemnace in search for their objective. Eventually, they reached the display where the Eldar Device was. 

Ciaphas Cain: Alright....let's get this thing and get out of here before....

???: Well this is a most interesting development. 

As the voice called out, Ciaphas Cain and his men turned to face Trazyn The Infinite. On instinct, one of the Valhallan Guardsman fired his Bolter Rifle at the Necron Overlord, but Trazyn simply uses his Empathic Obliterator staff to stop the bullets in mid air. Trazyn The Infinite then turns to face Ciaphas Cain.

Trazyn The Infinite: You must be Ciaphas Cain, Hero of the Imperium. I've heard so much about you. 

Ciaphas: Y...yes! Yes I am Ciaphas Cain! Hero of the Imperium! 

Trazyn The Infinite: I always wanted to meet you face to face. I had no plans of adding you and your regiment to my collection, today must be my lucky day. 

At this point, Ciaphas Cain quickly realized the danger that he and his men were in. Without hesitation, Cain orders his men to fire on Trazyn The Infinite. Trazyn summons his army to attack Cain and the Valhallan Regiment. 

Trazyn The Infinite: Take great care to not disturb the displays. 

As the Imperium Regiment fires on the Necrons, Ciaphas Cain rushes behind cover as he prepares his Bolt Pistol. What Ciaphas Cain didn't realize was that he took cover right behind the display where the Eldar Device was. When Ciaphas Cain moves to fire at an oncoming Necron soldier, the Necron fires his Gauss Rifle at the Commissar, narrowly missing Cain and shattering the glass display. 

Ciaphas Cain: Damn it! 

As Cain takes cover, he sees the Eldar Device and grabs it. He surveys the area and sees Necron reinforcements slowly closing in on them. 

Ciaphas Cain: FALL BACK! FALL BACK! 

With that, Ciaphas Cain and his men began falling back. It didn't take long for Trazyn The Infinite to notice that the Eldar Device was missing. As Ciaphas Cain and the Valhallan Regiment slowly backtracked their way back to the transport ship, they were cornered by Trazyn The Infinite. 

Trazyn The Infinite: It seems you live up to your reputation, Commissar Cain. But I'm afraid I can't let you leave with that device. 

At this point, Ciaphas Cain quickly realized just how much in danger he and his men were. He knew of Trazyn The Infinite and what power he wielded. He was extremely powerful even among other Necrons. 

Valhallan Guardsman: The Xenos have us surrounded! What are your orders, Commissar Cain?! 

As the Guardsman said that, Cain was overcome with fear as he tried to think of a way out of this. Left with no other option, Ciaphas Cain aims the device, thinking it to be a weapon. As Cain activates the device, the device lets out small hum before unleashing a blinding light which consumes both Cain and the Valhallan Regiment. When the light faded, Cain and the Vahlallan Regiment as well as the Eldar Device was all gone. In that moment, Ciaphas Cain and the Valhallan Regiment would now embark on a chaotic journey across the Multiverse.
