∆CHAPTER ONE∆

Five months earlier
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You sat at your desk chair, staring blankly at your computer screen with bags under your eyes, and a cup of overly creamed coffee in your right hand.
You took another swig of your coffee before placing it on your desk and rubbing your eyes. Maybe you shouldn't have stayed up all night watching videos, because now your body had to pay the consequence.
Sighing, you lied your head down in between your arms, closing your eyes in an attempt to get sleep. You would have moved to your bed, but you were honestly way too lazy.
Just as you were slowly beginning to doze off, your phone made a notification sound. You let out a loud groan and banged your fist against your table, grabbing your phone and opening it.
Your eyebrows creased at seeing a text message from an unknown number.
Unknown
Hey.
You hesitated before typing a reply.
You
Um, hey?
Do I know you?
How did you get my number?
The person began typing.
Unknown
No, you don't know me, but I was wondering if you could help me.
You
And what makes you think I'd trust a random number?
Unknown
I'm not expecting you to, but I need your help anyway.
You
And why me specifically? Why not a friend or something?
Unknown
If I'm being truthful, I don't have friends.
Now will you help me or not?
You narrowed your eyes at the screen.
You
No.
I'm not trusting a random stranger.
For all I know, you could be planning to kill me.
Sorry, but I'm not that stupid.
Unknown
So you're admitting you're atleast somewhat stupid?
You
Excuse me?
Mind your own damn business, creep.
Leave me alone.
Don't contact this number again or I'll call the cops.
You got out of the text app on your phone and deleted the number. Rubbing your eyes in exhaustion.
Just as you were about to lie your head back down to go to sleep, your phone began to ring.
You flinched as your head shot up, grabbing your phone in a hurry to check who was calling.
To your relief, it was only your friend.
Calling:🌺Cho🌺
You picked up the phone, sighing "hey, Cho. What's up?" You heard rustling from the other end, along with the sound of muffled gargling. You grew worried.
"Cho?" No answer.
Suddenly, you heard the sound of loud crying, causing you to panic.
"Cho, what's going on?!"
The crying ceased as your friends voice came through the phone "sorry, Y/N, I didn't realize I called you..." She sniffed "um...she broke up with me..." You pursed your lips "I'm really sorry, Cho...you doing okay?" You heard her continuous ugly crying from the other side of the phone "y-yeah...can I come over and maybe we can watch movies and cry about how lonely we are together?"
You smiled, even if she couldn't see you "sure thing. Maybe come by later though? I stayed up all night again" she chuckled and sniffed "that's fine. Sleep in your bed though. If I find out you slept at your desk again I'm gonna break your kneecaps" you smirked "is that a threat or a promise?" You could practically hear her eyeroll.
"Anyway, get some sleep. I'll call you around 4:00, ok?" You hummed "ok. Bye, Cho" she laughed "bye Y/N" she hung up.
You put your phone down and leaned back against your chair, staring blankly at the wall Infront of you. Despite the conversation with your friend, you still couldn't get that strange text message out of your head. What if that person came to your house? What if you died?
Ok, dying actually sounded fine, but you didn't want to get murdered.
You stood up from your desk, and began to trip due to your legs being partially asleep. You held yourself up by grabbing the back of your chair, and waited until your body decided to stop hating you.
Once you could feel your legs again, you walked across the room to your bed and flopped down, feeling like absolute shit.
You hugged your pillow to your chest, trying to find some sense of clarity despite you being utterly alone.
You let out a yawn and felt your eyes slowly shut, the beeping of your computer monitor lulling you to sleep.
ווווו
You were woken up by the sound of knocking on your door. You groaned. Letting go of your pillow, you kicked your blankets off and stood up, grabbing your phone to look at the time.
3:04
'Weird' you thought 'Cho said she'd be here at 4:00. Maybe it's the package I ordered like three days ago?'
You walked out of your room and towards your door, standing on your toes to look out the peephole, but all you saw was black. Someone was covering it.
You began to panic. Should you open it? Ask who's there?
'No, you dumbass! Don't do that! I'm not gonna who "um, who's there?" And the person isn't gonna go "oh yeah, I'm not here to rob you. I JUST BROUGHT COOKIES!"'
You gulped, taking a deep breath before tiptoeing over to your coffee table, seeing a convenient piece of paper and a pen.
You grabbed it, writing on it.
"I don't want your girl-scout cookies, sorry. Please go away"
You took the paper and slid it under the front door, seeing the shadow of the person pick it up.
A few seconds later the person pounded on the door, causing you to flinch back in fear.
"Open this door!"
The voice was gruff and harsh. Almost like the one of a middle aged man.
You shook and silently sprang up, running to your room and grabbing your phone, ready to call the police.
But, as soon as you picked it up and turned it on, green 'ERROR' warnings popped up before red, glitching words appeared in the middle of your screen.
"DON'T OPEN THE DOOR"
You stared at the screen, eyes wide. Was this person watching you?!
"I'LL TAKE CARE OF THE ROBBER. DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT."
Your whole body shook. You didn't even know if you could trust this person!
Breathing shakily, you set your phone down on the nightstand. You stared at your closed bedroom door with wide eyes when you heard the sound of a man screaming and a gunshot.
A few seconds of silence passed and then you heard the sound of your front door opening.
A soft chuckle was heard from your living room.
"It's not nice to block someone when they're trying to text you, Y/N"
Your heart practically stopped. This was the person who was texting you earlier.
Your body trembled. This is why you had trust issues!
You couldn't quite tell the person's gender through their voice, but you could tell it was slightly airy and light, but muffled as well. As if their mouth was being covered.
The person's foot steps echoed down your hallway, and you silently thanked yourself for locking the bedroom door. You heard the sound of your bathroom door being slammed open, the door banging against the wall behind it, most likely leaving a hole in the drywall.
You covered your mouth to silence your breathing, panic settling into every corner inch of your body. You shuffled yourself into a corner of your bedroom, sitting down and pulling your knees to your chest.
A low humming sound came from the person in the hallway, the shadow of their feet stoping right infront of your bedroom door.
Your whole body shook as tears ran down your cheeks, making your hair stick to your face. You heard a slight scraping sound, as if something was being dragged across the wood.
The person chuckled from behind the door. "There's no use hiding, I already know you're in there dear". Their voice was sickingly sweet, almost to the point of making you gag.
After a few seconds of silence, a loud bang was pounded against the door.
"Fucking come out you bitch! I already know where you are! Stop being a fucking pussy!"
You flinched and whimpered, but immediately regretted it.
The person let out a laugh and began kicking at your door.
"Come out, mouse! You can't hide forever!"
Dear, God. What were you gonna do?
God, this took for-fucking-ever to get out, but here it is!
Like I said in the prologue, I don't have an updating schedule, so I don't exactly know when chapters will come out.
On a good note though, I'm being homeschooled this year, and i haven't exactly started yet so I don't have to worry about public highschool.
Going into 10th grade this year, so that's stressful, but wish me luck!
See you guys in the next chapter when it comes out!
