reflections
As writers, we make these stories with characters we see as our children. And when that story is over we are forced to leave them. However, jeonchlo has inspired me to do more than just finish the storyline and leave. Instead, at the end of her books she reflects back on the message of the story. And I think as writers it's something we should do more of.
• Love can change us.
Taehyung was lost in life at the start of the book. He didn't even know who he was. But love can show us the sides of ourselves that we should be proud of. It also shows us the sides of us that we may not love, like Jungkook's jealously or Yoongi's obsession with Jimin.
• Love doesn't always work out.
Yoongi is very much reflective of my own experience of love. You can fall so hopelessly in love with someone and it may lead to nothing. And that's okay, because it's a part of life. We grow the most through the experiences we have, and sometimes the pain of unrequited love can make us stronger.
• Sometimes believing isn't about a book or a religion, but your outlook on life.
As Taehyung went through the book, we saw him slowly growing as a character. He begins questioning himself, the world around him, and his understanding of the things around him. I really wanted to show that as he goes along he unlocks all the different sides of his character.
Church Camp has been one of the books I have enjoyed writing the most. Every single goddamn chapter was a joy to write, and these boys feel like my babies. It's a book I'm immensely proud of, and one that I will love forever.
I hope you enjoyed reading, and watching these characters fall in love 💜
