Prologue
Delhi, the capital city of India, is popular in many ways. Political, top universities, and most importantly the heavy traffic makes the local people plan their day ahead of time. In terms of love, it is known as "Dilwalo ki Delhi" which is referred to as people who originate from Delhi who is lovable, decent, and carry a big heart within them.
Delhi is considered the best place for street food, remember Chandni Chawk's Aloo Paratha and that reference of Delhi-6. Honestly, this city has its own aroma and people proudly say we are from Delhi.
From Rich industrialists to the poor, everyone works hard every day to survive in this city. Every street, every corner has its own story and memories.
Each person has their own dreams, struggles, disappointments, responsibilities, and lots of stress in an unpredictable life. In the hustle-bustle city, the streets of Chandi Chawk live an upper-middle-class family "Malhotra's".
The entrance is a gate of ancient times that hasn't been upgraded to keep the legacy and culture. The nameplate has "Malhotra Niwas' ' which has a few blurred alphabets showcasing the need to renovate. As we enter, there is a staircase towards the right heading upstairs to the 2nd floor of the house.
In front, there is a big courtyard and the other three walls are surrounded by spacious rooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom.
The newspaper is being thrown and the milkman stands in front of the house ringing the doorbell.
A lady in her mid-40s takes the stainless steel pot from the kitchen and opens the door. The milkman pours the milk in it and she complains "bhaiya aaj kal tum doodh mein pani bahut milate ho"
"Maaji.. Aapke toh sudh dudh hi deta hun main! Ek aapka hi parivar hai jo waqt pe mujhe meri mehnat ke paise de deta hai warna iss gaali mein toh udhaar mein dudh dena padta hai mujhe" he replied.
A smile appeared on her lips hearing this, she picked up the newspaper and headed back into the house. She keeps the milk on the stove and lets it boil.
Another lady rushes into the kitchen "bhabhi.. Maaf karna aaj late ho gaya mujhe" she apologized to her.
"Koi baat nahi Nandini.. Tum chai rakhdo main tab tak nashte ke taiyari kar leti hun '' the elder one said.
Meet the two ladies of the Malhotra Niwas, the elder is named Pooja Malhotra, wife of retired Railway government officer Anoop Malhotra who is a very honest person. They have struggled, and sacrificed a lot but fulfill every wish of their sons in the best possible way.
They hear the laughter of two men, Pooja smiles "uth gaye dono.."
She walks out and sees them discussing some political matters supporting their favorite alliances.
"Aap dono bhi na subah subah shuru ho jaate hai.. Sarkar aap logo ko nahi chalani hai '' Pooja said.
"Lekin Pooja.. Desh ka vikas hona hai toh humhe bhi apna yogdan dena hai '' Anoop justified.
"Haan dijiye apna yogdan.. Par pehle chai nashta kar lijiye aur thoda apna yogdan apne ghar pe dijiye" Pooja takes away the newspaper from him and keeps it aside.
Anoop looks at her bewildered "aap hi humhe kuch karne nahi deti hai"
Nandini comes out of the kitchen with a tea tray in her hand and keeps it on the table. She smiles and replies "bhabhi ka matlab hai.. Bete ki shaadi mein apna yogdan dijiye"
Karan looks at her and says "humne kab mana kiya hai.. Janab ko itni baar kaha hai shaadi karle par wo sunte kaha hai kisiki"
"Nandini tum hi usko samjhao na.. Meri nahi toh apni choti maa ki baat wo nahi taalega" Pooja requests.
Karan and Nandini don't have their own kid but they immensely love Anoop and Pooja's children.
"Main baat karungi usse" She assured them.
Meanwhile, upstairs in a room, a man in his late 20s was looking for something important in the room.
He sighed deeply "God.. kaha rakh diye maine designs"
His phone ranged, he picks up the call and the voice leaves him worried "Daada"
He looks at the watch which was placed on his wrist and makes an assumption about the time "Ani... raat ke 12 baje tum mujhe phone kar rahe ho sab thik hai na?" he asked in concern.
"Haan daada sab thik hai! Bas aapki yaad aa rahi toh socha phone karlun aapko" his brother replies from the other end of the phone.
"Dekh Ani.. agar tujhe kabhi bhi paison ki zaroorat ho toh mujhe bol do minute mein paise tere paas honge" He said.
"Daada main janta hun.. Tumne gharwalo ko manaya, mere US Visa ke liye arrange kiya yahi bahut hai mere liye!"
"Fatafat apni padhai puri karke wapas aa jaa.. Bahut miss karta hun tujhe" He replies.
"Daada.. Mujhe bahana do na aane ka! Achi si ladki dekhke shaadi karlo" Aniket says teasingly.
Aarav made a face "God.. tum bhi ab mat shuru ho jao.. Chal baad mein phone karta hun" he ended the call.
He turns and sees Nandini standing in front of him. He bends downs and takes her blessing "pranam choti maa"
"Aashirwad nahi milega duggu" she said seriously.
Aarav stood up and asked "kyun? Maine kya galti ki hai?"
"Architect ban gaya hai.. Apne chote bhai ko bhi US bhej diya padhne. Shaadi.." She was about to speak further but Aarav stopped her.
"Maa ne aap ko bheja hai na? Samajh gaya Maa ne pehle Aniket ko phone karke kaha mujhse baat karne ko ab aap se.. Mujhe nahi karni hai '' he denies and walks out of the room.
He descends the stairs with fast steps, he takes blessings from Anoop, Karan and Pooja. Anoop feeds him the snacks and says "karle na shaadi beta.. Iss ghar mein bahu aayegi toh tumhari maa mujh par dhyan degi"
Aarav refuses "mujhe koi shaadi nahi karni hai.. Aur haan aaj wo contractor aayega.. Jo bhi maramant karwani hai ghar mein bata dena"
Nandini comes to him and asks "Apni choti maa ki bhi baat nahi manega, mere liye toh mere bache tum aur Aniket ho.. Kuch armaan hai jo maine bhi dekhe hai?" she emotionally tries to convince him.
"Choti maa please aap aisi baat mat kijiye.. Thik hai main sochunga iss baare mein" he said to keep her heart and walked out of the house.
He is the elder son of Anoop and Pooja, Aarav Malhotra. He is 5 foot 11 inches tall, and handsome with a fair complexion. He is an architect by profession, he had seen his father struggle to raise him and his younger brother Aniket Malhotra who is two years younger than him.
Aniket wanted to complete his master's in the US but the family couldn't afford the financial pressure. However, Aarav didn't want his brother to sacrifice anything for the family so took a loan from the bank and arranged the money for his visa process and advance university fee. He is a very obedient, caring, and soft-hearted person.
On the other hand, his brother Aniket is pursuing his Masters in Business Administration in the US and simultaneously doing a part-time job to support himself financially as he doesn't want his family or his brother to have any financial pressure on them because of him.
