Chuck vs. Tom Sawyer Part 4

"I need two bottles grape cough syrup, one pound M&Ms, no brown, and my lucky arcade game from the Gas 'N Sip in Tarzana." Jeff told Chuck and Casey as they walked down an aisle of the store.

" Done." Chuck told him.

" Really?" Jeff then took a moment and turned to Chuck. " I want Anna wearing a hula skirt fanning me with a palm frond."

" HUH?" Casey asked.

" I sweat profusely when I play. And I want your girlfriend too for that Chuck." Jeff finished.

"Not happening. You can have Anna but you're not getting Y/N."

" Fine. And finally, I need a crowd. I want you to get some of my old fans back."

" Come on. The people that were into that game are in their 40s now. They have jobs, and wives, and kids and..." Casey looked over at Chuck to see him shaking his head no to Casey.

Later in the day, you came into the Buy More and saw a crowd of people gathering to watch Jeff play. You saw Chuck in the back and made your way to him.

"Hey!" you called out. Chuck turned around and smiled when he saw you and walked over to you and gave you a sweet kiss.

"You made it."

"Of course I did."

You and Chuck looked over at the TV, where there was a news reporter on, talking at the Buy More, about Jeff.

All of a sudden, you and Chuck flashed.

"Oh boy." you said.

Chuck quickly took out his phone and called Sarah.

"Sarah, Sarah- I know where Farrokh is. The terrorists are using a television station to control the satellite; they're here in L.A."

You and Chuck followed Jeff onto the stage, a bunch of people were still cheering for him. You and Chuck stood off to the side, next to Morgan.

Jeff started to panic.

"I don't feel so hot."

"What? No, no, no. You're gonna be great. You look great. You're gonna kill it, buddy." Chuck said, trying to cheer him on.

" What was I thinking, man? No one can get the kill screen. I can't handle the math. It's too heavy. It feels like my brain is about to..."

Jeff then passed out.

You and Chuck looked at Jeff and then at each other, freaking out and trying to figure out what to do next.

You all brought Jeff into the home theatre room. He was still passed out.

"Hey, hey. Come on, buddy, come on! Wake up, buddy! You got to play! You got to get the kill screen, you got to get the code. If we don't stop that satellite, they're gonna launch some crazy missile into space and then-then... then it's World War III. Acceptable civilian casualties. Oh, my God."

Chuck then pulled out his phone.

"Chuck?" you asked, wondering who he going to call.

"Hey, I was thinking, why don't you guys get out of town, maybe Palm Springs, you and Awesome just get out of town. Now, actually, would be a great time. Trip's on me, you know. Early wedding present."

You looked at him, giving him a soft smile. Of course he would call Ellie.

"Look, I'm sorry, okay? I- I know I've been a bit of a disappointment lately. I- I-I want you to be proud of me. I just... I ran out of time, that's all. I got to run. I love you, Ellie." Chuck finished, hanging up. He then looked at you. "Y/N you got to get out of here too... If anything goes wrong..."

"What? No that's crazy. I'm not leaving you here."

"Baby please?" he begged you, standing up now and grabbing your hands. "This may not work. And we don't have Jeff now. You heard Beckman. People are going to die and I don't want to lose you."

"Hey." you started softly. "I'm staying. We are going to figure this all out. Together. We're a team. Always have been."

Chuck sighed and moved closer to you and rested his forehead against yours and you both closed your eyes.

" Sorry guys." Morgan said, walking in. "They're going nuts out there, okay? These nerds are gonna tear this joint apart. You got to do something."

You and Chuck kept your arms around each other as you both looked at him.

" What am I supposed to do?"

" Well, they came to see video game greatness. Someone better deliver."

Chuck looked at Morgan then back at you.

"You can do it babe." you told him with a smile.

Chuck nodded his head and you all headed out to head to the stage.

"Ladies and gentlemen... or Gentlemen, let me introduce you to the challenger. Hailing from the City of Angels, the Master of Disaster... the King of Sting, the Dancing Destroyer, Charles Irving Bartowski!" Morgan shouted, introducing Chuck.

Chuck looked at you and motioned for you to come up with him on stage. Chuck then popped in a quarter and began the game. It didn't go so well though and he lost a little ways in.

"You suck Bartowski!" a man yelled. Chuck turned to glare at him, as did you, and Chuck saw that he was wearing a Rush shirt. Then he flashed and remembered what Morimoto said about the band.

"Missile Command. The mathematical pattern underlying the game is exactly the same as- Morgan!"

You looked at Chuck, confused, as Morgan came up to you both.

"Hey, uh, buddy, do, do we carry any Rush CDs in the store?"

" No need, I got 'em all on my Zune."

"You have a Zune?"

" Are you kidding me? No. No, I'll grab my iPod."

"Good, good, good, I have, I have a very, very special request."

Morgan went over to set up his iPod and you stood beside Chuck still.

"Are you sure this is going to work?" you asked him.

"It's got to."

Chuck then looked up and saw Morgan was ready to go.

"On my mark. Three, two, one. Mark!"

And Rush was now blasting in the store as Chuck began to play.

Chuck was doing amazing. And he finally made it to the kill screen.

"I got this." Chuck said, freaking out a little.

"You do baby. You got this." you encouraged.

And he did! He won the game and the code came up.

"Oh my God!" you said with a big smile on your face.

The code then came up on the screen. OZPGSB.

Chuck quickly pulled out his phone and called Sarah. You ran over to stand beside him.

"Sarah, I did it! I did it, I beat the game. I got to the kill screen. I got the code! The game- it follows a pattern. It's just like Mr. Morimoto said- the music of the universe."

"Chuck, just give me the code." you could hear Sarah shout.

" Oscar... Zelda... Penguin... Gamma... Sector... Bob..."

And it worked. All was saved.

"You did it, Chuck. It worked! How does it feel to be a hero, Mr. Bartowski?" you both heard Sarah say. Chuck hung up and turned to you. You smiled and wrapped your arms around his neck, giving him a huge hug and then you kissed him. The crowd cheered.

"I love you Chuck!"

"I love you too Y/N!"

You kissed him one more time before letting him go and Chuck turned to the audience as they cheered and then picked up and a couple guys put him on their shoulders as they walked around the room as you watched with a big smile on your face.

Later at night, you and Chuck found Jeff sitting outside, at the back of the store. You both joined him, sitting down as well.

"How you feeling, buddy?" Chuck asked.

" Better."

"Good."

"Thanks. So... Missile Command champion."

" I got lucky. You know." Chuck said, shrugging.

"Congrats. I'm glad it was you."

Chuck smiled.

" I mean, you're sure you're not... "

"Me? Uh-uh. I'm cool. Being number one is a real bitch. Feels like the whole world is gunning for you, sometimes."

You and Chuck sighed. You definitely understood that.

" I can imagine." Chuck then looked over at you. "Come on Y/N."

You both got up and began to walk away.

" So, what was it like? The kill screen?" Jeff asked.

You and Chuck just stared at him.

" Forget it. I'll see you tomorrow." Jeff said waving him off.

Chuck smiled and waved at him.

"Goodnight Jeff." you said as Chuck grabbed your hand and you both walked away.

You and Chuck made it back to his place and as soon as you walked in, Ellie attacked Chuck in a hug.

"Oh, I am so proud of you!"

"Hey, relax. It's just a video game. Granted, I am the best Missile Commander in the world."

"I'm not talking about a stupid video game. I'm talking about this. Sarah told us what's inside." Ellie said, handing Chuck a box.

Chuck opened it up and you and Chuck were both surprised to see what was in the box.

"My diploma?" Chuck said shocked, and he turned to look at you and you looked just as shocked as he did.

"Well, don't act so surprised."

"You sly dog. Sarah also told us about what you've been doing behind our backs." Devon said.

"She did? Really?" you asked.

" Yeah. No wonder you've been such a mess this past year."

" Why didn't you tell us that you were taking online courses? Or you Y/N, surely you knew." Ellie said.

"Oh! Oh, right... that."

"Yeah you know I guess it just slipped my mind." you said.

" You two kids have some celebrating to do." Devon said pointing between the both of you and handed you both a beer. "Oh! And Sarah's waiting out back."

You and Chuck began to walk to the back and Devon stopped Chuck for a sec.

" You'll thank me for that ginseng shake in the morning." he told Chuck as Devon eyed you for a sec then back at Chuck.

You and Chuck found Sarah, standing outside on the deck at the back, beer in her hand too.

"Hey Sarah!" you greeted.

She turned to you both and smiled. "Hey!"

"Well, thanks for my fake diploma."

"What do you mean?"

"I get it. You know, you had one of your CIA pal's doctor it up to get Ellie off my back."

" It's real, Chuck."

" Come on. I'm serious."

"Sarah..." you were so shocked but so grateful Sarah could do this for him and you smiled big.

"You graduated."

" What about my last 12 credits?"

"Well, Casey and I decided that your exceptional field service ought to count for something and Stanford agreed."

" Huh. And by exceptional, you mean, like, uh, I don't know, decrypting weapons-satellite codes?"

"Electrical Engineering."

"Or running away from exploding games of Missile Command?"

" Physical Education. You earned it, Chuck."

" Thank you."

"I'm so proud of you Chuck." you said smiling.

You all turned to look at the view as you all took a sip of your beer.

"You see that star out there on the horizon?" Sarah asked. "That's the Air Force bouncing Morimoto's satellite off the atmosphere and burning it up. Make a wish. It's yours."

Chuck looked over at you and smiled. You noticed and looked up at him and smiled as well.

"I don't need to. I got my wish right here."

You teared up a bit and Chuck pulled you in close and kissed the side of your head and then you rested your head on his shoulder.

Sarah looked over at you both and smiled warmly.
