Chuck vs. The Break Up Part 4
You and Chuck went over to the hospital to go visit Sarah. Thankfully she was okay and it was nothing too serious.
Sarah was napping but woke up when she heard you and Chuck come in.
"Hi." you greeted.
" Hey."
" We, uh, brought you some gardenias." you said, as you lifted up the bouquet of flowers a little."
Sarah smiled.
"They're my favorite. How did you guys know?"
" Well, we're not entirely incompetent spies, you know?" Chuck joked.
" Thank you. And you can put them over there."
You and Chuck looked over and saw what basically looked like a whole garden of flowers.
"Bryce Larkin, huh?" Chuck asked.
"Yeah I think it's safe to say he is still into you." you said. "Question is, are you still into him?" you asked, looking back at Sarah.
Sarah just shrugged and you and Chuck decided to sit down on the edge of her bed.
"Ellie said you had a concussion?" you asked.
"Oh, it's just a minor concussion, I'm fine. It's my ego that's hurt more than anything."
Meanwhile, Bryce was in the hospital as well, obviously to see Sarah, and Ellie saw him walking around.
"I don't believe it."
" What's up, babe?" Devon asked, coming up beside Ellie.
"That is Sarah's ex. That guy just won't back off. You know what, Chuck and Y/N might be too nice to say anything, but I am not."
" Whoa, whoa, hold on, babe. Let me handle this."
"I'm sorry-- it's my fault." Chuck started, looking over at Sarah. "If I didn't get fired, this never would've happened."
" Hey, don't apologize, okay? It is not yours or Y/N's job to protect me."
" Well... all things being considered, that's probably a good thing."
"Yeah I don't think we are cut out for that quite yet." you added.
" Yeah, you guys have a lot of good qualities, but, uh, I'm not sure "bodyguard" is one of them"
You and Chuck smiled at her.
Later in the day, you and Chuck went back to his place so you could both get ready for work. You were walking through the courtyard hand in hand, when Bryce came out of nowhere.
"Chuck. Y/N."
You jumped, Bryce scaring the crap out of you.
"You... wow. You really ought to think about toning down the entrances a notch." Chuck said.
"Sorry, comes with the job."
" Uh, look, we've... we've already had a pretty long day, and we gotta get to work, so if you have any life-changing bombs that you'd like to drop on us, could you please save them for later?" Chuck asked.
"I'm worried about Sarah."
"There's nothing to be worried about. She got a minor concussion and a few bruises-- she'll be fine." you said.
" No, that's not what I'm worried about. She went off mission. And not only did we lose the microchip and the FULCRUM agent, the three of you almost got killed."
"Okay, she went off mission to protect us, which by the way, is her job and wins her points in my book." you said looking at Bryce.
"Sarah is becoming too close to you Y/N, Chuck too. And that will get her killed. People we deal with are cold-blooded assassins. They have no emotions, no feelings. The only chance we have against FULCRUM is to think and act like they do. Anything less gets us killed."
" Sarah knows what she's doing, Bryce. Come on Chuck." you said, putting your arm around him as you both walked to his door, unlocking it and heading inside.
You and Chuck were now all set, just about ready to leave for your jobs when Devon came walking in.
"Chuck, Y/N. Just the two I was looking for. These are for you." Devon said, handing Chuck a pot of flowers.
" Wow, Devon. Thanks, I've never received flowers from another man before, but I suppose there's a first time for everything. "
"They're not from me, Chuck."
" That's a relief."
"I thought I had some competition now." you joked.
"They're from Sarah's ex. I intercepted them before they got to her room. This guy won't take no for an answer indeed. Just like you said Y/N."
"Thanks for looking out." Chuck said.
"Hey, that's what bros are for."
"Right."
You and Chuck looked over at the flowers he placed on the table and noticed that the card in the flowers said "Let's meet in private." and had a phone number on the card.
"Must be his number. I'm gonna call him." Chuck said.
You just nodded.
"Hello?" he answered.
" Yeah, you know what, Bryce, I almost bought your little speech, but..."
" Who's Bryce?"
Chuck then realized who he was talking to.
" Von Hayes..." Chuck mouthed, looking at you. Your eyes widened and you went over to stand beside Chuck to listen in on the call. " Von Hayes, we've been looking for you."
" Who is this?"
" Chor... Jorge. Jorge Carmichael."
" Uh, who?"
" The waiter, the waiter who, uh, who dropped that bottle of Lafite Rothschild."
" How did you get my number? I-I sent the flowers to that female agent."
" Yeah, yeah, well, uh, you know, I'm her supervisor, and your little case has made its way up the food chain, so you're gonna be dealing with me now. If you want to stay alive, you need to tell me where that microchip is."
"Don't worry. I have it, it's safe, just... Just don't let those people catch me, okay? Just get me the hell out of here, Jorge. I'm-I'm-I'm living in a Lamborghini. You-you can't imagine how little legroom there is."
"All right, I know you're pissed off that I screwed up your perfect plans, but I have some good news." Chuck said to Casey, as he walked into the Buy More break room, you right behind him. " I found the microchip."
" How?"
" Doesn't matter how. The point is I did it."
"What exactly did you do, Bartowski?"
" I negotiated the return of said microchip. Of course, I did have to agree to certain terms."
"What terms?"
"This is where it gets good." you said.
" Well, one, he'll only make the exchange with me. Uh, two, he wants full immunity from any government prosecution."
" I can live with that."
" There's one... there... well, just... Sorry, there is kind of just one more little bitty thing."
"What?"
" We're gonna need roughly $4. 5 million in unmarked bills, preferably small denominations."
"Told ya." you said, smirking.
You, Chuck, Casey and Bryce were all in a train station, where Von Hayes would be meeting with Chuck.
Casey was sitting on one end, Bryce on another bench and you and Chuck were sitting right behind Bryce, Chuck with a gigantic bag in his lap, full of money.
Casey then noticed Von Hayes walking down.
"Okay, here he is, Chuck. You're on."
"Be careful Chuck." you told him, kissing his cheek.
"I will." he said smiling at you before he got up.
Chuck slowly walked over to Von and motioned for him to walk over to the side.
" Have you got the cash?" Von asked.
"Yeah, I have... I have... it's in... it's right here in the bag. Do you have the microchip?"
Von showed it to him.
" All right, give me the cash."
"You first."
" No, you first."
" I'm pretty positive you go first."
"Just make the exchange, moron." Casey told him over the comms.
"I've never done a handoff before. I'm really not used to this spy stuff." Von said.
"It's a little stressful, isn't it?"
" Yeah."
" Yeah. Okay, I got an idea."
" Oh, yeah?"
" Yeah, we count the same time. I'm gonna count to three."
Bryce looked over at you and you just shrugged.
"You're gonna count to three?"
" Or if you want... to count to three?"
" No, no, it's too much pressure. You count to three, I'll... "
"So, I'm gonna count to three."
"On three or after three? "
"What do you want?"
" We'll do after three, so it's like one, two, three, change."
" Okay, here we go: one... two..."
"Trouble, Chuck. Make the exchange." Casey urged.
Von looked around and saw men with guns.
"You told me I could trust you." Von told Chuck before running off.
"No. No, no, no, wait! Wait! No!"
" I can never get a break." Casey said, getting up to go after Hayes. Bryce got up to join him.
"You stay here this time." Casey told Chuck before leaving.
" Hey... Where're you... Don't you need this?" Chuck called out to him.
You quickly got up and ran over to Chuck.
"We aren't going to stay here are we?" you asked him.
"Of course not."
You and Chuck found where everyone was, everyone pointing guns at each other, except for Von.
"Hold on. Wait! Don't do anything. No shooting." Chuck shouted as you both ran up the stairs to meet them. " Excuse me, gentlemen. May I have your attention, please? Um... In my hands... I'm holding $4. 5 million in unmarked bills. Now, I'm not sure what the current going rate for thug-for-hire work is, but I'm feeling pretty confident that it's a lot less than this. " Chuck said as he dropped the bag of money on the ground. "Now, all I ask is that you let Von Hayes and my two friends here go, and the money's all yours. Or you can die horrible deaths in a hail of gunfire. The choice is yours, really."
One man kept a gun on Chuck as he bent down to grab the bag of money before running off.
"That was amazing! Thank you, Jorge." Von cheered, running up to hug Chuck.
" No, don't mention it. All right."
"You did great babe!" you said running up to him now to kiss him.
" No, no, no-- don't encourage him."
"You know, a little appreciation wouldn't kill you. I mean, he did get the microchip back." you told Casey.
"He also gave away $4. 5 million in taxpayer money."
" Nobody's perfect." Chuck told him. "Where are you going?" he then asked as he saw Casey heading off.
" To get it back, idiot."
You, Chuck and Bryce all looked at each other.
