Dragon Species (Energy)
Fire
Category: Energy
Characteristics: A medium-sized dragon. They have red scales that vary from light to dark and have a yellow underbelly. There eyes, like most dragons, are yellow and they have small spines running down the length of their back to the tip of their tail. They have two straight horns on the back of their head and rather hard scales that can be difficult to penetrate if the right weapons aren't used.
Powers: A fire dragons main ability is to be able to breathe fire. Other abilities include being able to have infra-red vision, allowing them to see heat, and heating themselves up. Powerful fire dragons are able to set themselves alight with flame and manipulate and control fire around them.
Strengths: Fire is a very destructive element, often considered the most destructive out of the twenty different types of dragons. It has the ability to spread and slowly degrade buildings, forests and even cities, while also being able to cause large explosions. A rather weak fire dragon could level an entire city through starting with one building. All they would need to do is fan the flame.
Weaknesses: Because fire is used so often and is so well known, it is general knowledge to know the basics behind how to stop it. Mostly this is through using water or cooling it down. Because of this water dragons are often able to defeat a fire dragon.
Equilibrium: This is considered the most destructive equilibrium, being nearly unstoppable in its power. At this point, a fire dragon becomes fire, in its very essence, a raging inferno with unlimited potential. The fire can shift and change like most equilibriums, and if a fire dragon has control they can even become almost solid. Like this, they are impossible to touch with physical attacks.
Mastery: To master fire a dragon has to be able to control fire with their mind to the utmost level. They should be able to do almost anything with it, from creating near solid objects to making explosions in midair. A master of fire would be able to create flames with their thoughts, and anywhere they wish to, such as inside another being.
Other: Most fire dragons have a famous temper that, when provoked, can lead them to making rash decisions. However, this temper also increased the heat and power of their fire, making them formidable. They are also the most common dragon.
Dark/Shadow
Category: Energy
Characteristics: Shadow dragons are a smaller species of dragon, with pure black scales. They have bladed wings and a long-bladed tail. Along their back is a row of sharp spines and they have two curved horns on the back of their head. Their wings are larger than average and they have long claws, longer than normal. They have two sharp curved horns on their head
Powers: Shadow dragons are able to breathe a substance that is similar to fire, but instead of burning it degrades and causes massive amounts of pain to anyone affected. They are also able to access what is known as the 'shadow dimension', a dark place that is a mirror of the real world, but while in the shadow dimension they can only watch. Powerful shadow dragons are able to absorb power from the shadow dimension, allowing them to become even more powerful.
Strengths: Shadow dragons are able to effectively teleport by travelling through the shadow realm. This allows them to escape most situations rather easily and allows them to dodge even the fiercest of attacks. The blades along their wings and tail can be used to cut maim and weaken other dragons, and their small stature allows for lightning-quick attacks.
Weaknesses: Being small in stature they are rather weak physically and can often be battered quite easily. A weakness for them would be dragons that could withstand a lot of punishment, as well as dish out as much. These include metal and earth dragons. Also, if there are no shadows around they are unable to fade into shadow. This makes them weak against light and fire dragons as well.
Equilibrium: When a shadow dragon reaches this point they become darkness. They become shadow. The area they control would become nearly pitch black, and much like flames, they would descend down upon unwary victims leaving a dead patch behind. Anything caught within this equilibrium would be trapped by an extreme amount of pain and anguish. It is one of the most feared of the equilibriums.
Mastery: A master of shadow would be able to control darkness in every way. They would be able to disappear and reappear anywhere there would be shadow. They would be able to draw on the darkness around them and create their own shadow in unlikely places. Their powers would allow them to travel inside the body of another and rip them apart from the inside.
Other: Shadow dragons are usually rather cunning creatures that prefer to live in solitude. They are the only species of dragon that prefers to come out during the night.
Light
Category: Energy
Characteristics: Light dragons are a smaller species of dragon. They have yellow creamy scales with pale orange lines running across their body. Some say these lines are ruins that say something about the characteristic of the dragon. They have delicate, transparent wings and soft scales. A row of small spikes run down their back and they have a long wirily tail. They have two straight horns on the back of their head.
Powers: Light dragons are able to breathe a beam of heat and light that varies in power. They can make their bodies glow to light up the area around them. Powerful light dragons can control light to change the colours of certain things, and even make illusions. Some light dragons can even heat up the light around them and burn things that come near.
Strengths: A light dragon is often considered one of the most powerful dragons in terms of their elemental power. A single blast of light can burn, maim and even cut off limbs. This makes them incredibly dangerous in long-range fights and the speed in which they breathe their element makes it incredibly difficult to dodge. Their light bodies make them rather fast in the air as well, able to move quickly to dodge and fly.
Weaknesses: Much like the shadow dragon, the delicacy of a light dragons body makes them incredibly easy to defeat with a strong single blow. They are often considered the most delicate of all dragons, and their flimsy wings and soft scales make them easy targets for physical attacks. This makes them weak against dragons who can disable their element, such as water dragons and metal dragons.
Equilibrium: As a light dragon reaches this point they become pure blinding light made from heat that can reach a high degree. This light can move at faster speeds than any other equilibrium, expanding and contracting at will. Anything that touches it is either burnt to a crisp or incinerated, leaving nothing behind. It has been known to destroy entire cities in an instant. It is considered the most explosively powerful equilibrium.
Mastery: A master of light would be able to manipulate the light around them in any way possible. They would be able to change reality itself, melding objects that aren't there, creating illusion made from light and in some cases even making others blind. They would be able to call on the light around them and make sudden beams that could cut through nearly anything.
Other: There is a rare species of light dragon that has feathers instead of scales. These dragons are often very good flyers.
Rift
Category: Energy
Characteristics: Rift dragons are a medium-sized dragon, around the same size as a fire dragon. They have dark purple scales with a lighter underbelly. They have small spikes running down the length of their back. Their eyes often are purple or black, and they have six horns on their head. Three on either side with the longest being at the top. Each of their horns is also serrated, and they have reasonably hard scales.
Powers: Rift dragons are able to manipulate the rift energy that is present between dimensions. This allows them to open portals into a dimension known as the void, which is absent of everything, including light, sound and even time. They are able to elongate their rifts into a purple beam of energy. Powerful void dragons can create multiple portals at once and absorb void energy into themselves. Some have even been known to time travel.
Strengths: The ability of rift dragons to disappear into the void and reappear makes them incredibly difficult to hit and/or trap. They are able to get in quickly to deal damage and then escape just as quickly, making them very frustrating to do battle with. Their portals also make for a great defence as they are able to block most attacks with it.
Weaknesses: For a rift dragon to be able to enter one of their rifts, they need to be able to move to do so. If they are forced to stand still or are trapped in a way that keeps them from moving, they will be unable to teleport. This makes them weak against ice dragons, for an ice dragon is able to withstand the cold they dish out and able to trap them rather easily as can a crystal dragon. Despite their size, they are often not very physically strong either.
Equilibrium: When a rift dragon reaches this point they become rift energy. This enables them to split apart the very fabric of reality in bringing the void into earth's dimension. Like this, they can take away all heat, light and engulf everything in a certain area in the void. It would make everything become black, and anything not able to withstand breathlessness would die.
Mastery: A master of rift energy would be able to control the energy around him/her with precision and accuracy, creating void portals wherever and whenever they wish. They would be able to draw on the void to create shields and warp rift energy to make the area around them absent of whatever they wish. The laws of time would no longer apply to them.
Other: This species is the only species of dragon that has not reached equilibrium at all. This is a good thing because the day one does is the day the world dies.
Electricity/Lightning
Category: Energy
Characteristics: Their scales range from a dirty yellow to a lighter yellow. They often are covered in star-like orange specs all over their body. They are around the same size as a fire dragon. They have a line of spikes running down their back and a spear-like tip at the end of their tail. Their wings are quite different as well, and instead of having bat-like wings, as do most dragons, they have jagged wings that look almost as if they have spikes coming off the back.
Powers: Lightning dragons breath a bolt of lightning that can electrify, stun and occasionally kill. They can send electrical charges through their body of varying strength. They can use their lightning to travel extremely fast for short amounts of time. Powerful lightning dragons can summon lightning from the sky and create lightning around them.
Strengths: Lightning dragons are considered the fastest species of dragon for short distances, making them hard to hit and creating quick getaways if need be. They also are able to punish anyone that touches them, as any dragon that physically touches them gets electrocuted. Lightning is also incredibly difficult to block and dodge, as it travels at fast speeds.
Weaknesses: While lightning is great for an attack it makes a horrible defence, and often can't block attacks very well, making the lightning dragon rely more on speed and agility than strength. A lightning dragon's weakness would be elements that can break up the attacks to lessen the strength, such as earth, ice and water.
Equilibrium: At this point, a lightning dragon would become a living-breathing storm, but instead of raining water it would be raining lightning strikes. Like this a dragon can travel at extreme speeds and can virtually strike from anywhere at any time, being completely made from lightning. If this equilibrium revealed itself it would be like a massive ball of yellow electricity that could disappear into the ground, any clouds and travel through metallic structures.
Mastery: To master lightning, a dragon would need to be able to control the charge of molecules and atoms around them. They would be able to create lightning from nothing, and change its speed and focus at a moments notice. They would be able to control lightning storms and channel their power through others.
Other: There is a rare species of lightning dragon that instead of having yellow scales and lightning has dark blue/purple scales and breathes dark lightning. These dragons are often far more powerful than average.
Life
Category: Energy
Characteristics: Life dragons are light emerald green, with scales that often shine. They are a medium-sized dragon, around the same size as a fire dragon, with slender bodies and delicate wings. They have larger scales than most, and they can be quite difficult to break. A row of small spikes run down their neck and they have two straight horns on the back of their head.
Powers: Life dragons have power over life. They are able to heal and repair most wounds and steal the life force from other creatures. Powerful life dragons can completely drain the life from another, and into themselves. They are also able to heal themselves quickly of any injury, making them very difficult to defeat. This gives them longer life spans of most other dragons.
Strengths: Their element, when used in a dangerous fashion, is considered the most dangerous of all. There is no defence against it, not even with a metal dragon's metal, as it steals the life force of living things. Their hard scales and ability to heal themselves also makes them very defensible and extremely difficult to take down in a fight.
Weaknesses: While their element is very dangerous, it can only really hurt a dragon if they are trapped in it for a long time, or a slowly weakened by it over time, making it a rather slow element. This makes life dragons weak against creatures that are able to move quickly, such as rift and electricity dragons. It can also be blocked by other energy dragons and is ineffective against non-living things.
Equilibrium: A life dragon's equilibrium, similar to most energy dragons, is a large excess of green energy. It can be both very dangerous and very helpful. Depending on what causes a life dragon to reach equilibrium it can either bring life and restoration or cause death on a massive level. The green energy is much like a fire in the way it moves, and the further it spreads the greater its power.
Mastery: A master of life would control life and death itself. They would be able to take the life force away from something in the blink of an eye, and then give it back again just as quickly. They would be able to bring things back to life even. Anything living would be under their whim, and they could draw their power from every living thing around them, including any enemies that they may be facing.
Other: Despite their power, life dragons are considered the most peaceful species. They do not often like getting into conflict with others and don't often get involved in fights. They are also considered the most beautiful species.
Chaos
Category: Energy
Characteristics: These dragons have red scales, that range from ruby to a deep dark red. They are a larger species, with large wings and long back spikes running down their spine to the end of their tail. They usually have deep red eyes and a red underbelly. They have four horns, two long outer horns and then a set just below that are slightly smaller on the back of their head. They have a long thick tail.
Powers: Chaos dragons breathe a powerful beam of red energy that can cause extreme pain and mass destruction, able to rip apart almost anything it touches. Powerful chaos dragons are able to pull energy into themselves and increase their strength, power, speed and agility. The red energy also makes for a great defence, allowing them to take a lot of damage.
Strengths: Chaos dragons are one of the most feared dragons on the battlefield, their element allowing them to rip apart entire armies with little effort. They fight like demons, often moving so fast and with so much power they don't give their enemies time to think. Their ability to absorb their element into themselves creates an incredibly powerful individual that is very difficult to defeat.
Weaknesses: Because of their power, chaos dragons are very reliant on it in a fight. This means that if one is able to get past that power or even disable it they would easily win against a chaos dragon. This makes them incredibly weak against dragons such as mind dragons and spirit dragons, as they are able to manipulate a chaos dragon into being unable to call upon their power.
Equilibrium: At this point, a chaos dragon becomes a raging, out of control storm of red energy, able to move at incredible speeds and destroy nearly anything that it comes into contact with. It can rip apart mountains easily, matching the destructive power of even a fire equilibrium. It can wipe out entire islands in its rage. Chaos equilibriums are often considered the most difficult to control, and it is common for a chaos dragon of equilibrium to rarely have any control when reaching into this power.
Mastery: A master of Chaos would be able to call upon their power in an instant. They would be able to move it through the air and summon the red energy with a single thought, placing it anywhere they wish. With a flick of their wings, they could destroy an entire mountain, and any breath attack would rip apart whatever it touched.
Other: 'Chaos' dragon comes from the nature of their element to spread chaos. It is one of the most destructive elements and is also one of the few that can only be used to harm, with no other benefits.
