-Samantha-
I was annoyed, and no one was even sticking me with needles trying to draw blood. I gritted my teeth as the lullaby that I had been hearing all night, played once more for the umpteenth time throughout the hospital.
I let out a loud sigh of frustration, "Goddamn, how many babies are they having here?!"
Nathan chuckled from the recliner and opened one eye. "It's not that bad, Sam. After a while you get used to it," he told me.
I rolled my eyes, "Please don't tell me that this doesn't affect you," I mumbled.
He shrugged, "Like I said you get used to it, that noise plays more in this hospital than more people come in I believe. Well that lullaby theme and the code blue announcement," he said, then yawned.
"I'm going to go crazy before this night ends," I muttered.
"No you won't, my mom said that she was coming back with your morphine," he informed me.
I let out a snort, "Good I'll be asleep and bored."
"Sam, you can't be both asleep and bored so choose one," Nathan told me.
I looked at him, "How would you know?" I asked as I pouted.
"I may not dream, but I do sleep pretty well so I do know that people aren't bored when they sleep. Plus, I'd pretty much all but fail at my job occupation if I didn't know what was going on with people while they slept," he explained.
I frowned, "Well I guess you would know."
I noticed my parents' shadows moving, stretching out of the corner of my eye and I whimpered.
"Sam, what's wrong?"
I looked back at Nathan, then back at the shadows to check their positions. But for now they had stopped moving, I bit my lip.
"It was the shadows, they were moving a bit," I whispered.
Nathan stared at me for a moment, then he got up and got in my hospital bed with me.
"What are you doing?" I asked him as my face turned different shades of red. I was wearing a skimpy hospital gown in only my bra and underwear.
"I'm chasing the shadows away," he told me.
"But what if my parents wake up?"
"They won't. Remember what I told you, people wake up when I want them to," he said as he wrapped his arms around my waist.
I looked back at Nathan to see him sleeping and I frowned. "Nathan, did you know about what really happened to Theo? And if you did why did you stay quiet about it?"
