Santas Red Suit
Ever wonder why Santas suit is red?
No?
It's to match his red cheeks and take the focus away from them. It was Christmas in the North Pole once again, the snow was thick once more and the reindeers feet were buried by the white powder. The sleigh was ready but Santa clause himself wasn't, he was still in his cosy cottage. It had been decorated with a red and white theme this year. Candy canes hung from the fireplace, a white and red wreath had been placed on the door. The stairs had been wrapped in silver, white and red tinsel, a few nutcrackers were scattered about standing tall to attention some Santa had crafted himself and some he had made for his love. The house was warm with a flickering fire that licked at the fat logs deep in its belly, and candles lined most surfaces.
But amongst the peace was chaos Santas red suit had been stained with maple syrup. He was having a sugary snack before leaving the North Pole, it was now stained and Mrs Claus was doing all she could to try and get the stain out of the red fabric.
"You may have to go just like that," she said gesturing to him with the scrubbing brush.
"In my vacation clothing!" He exclaimed trying to suppress a jolly laugh. "No! I save these for after Christmas!" he reminded her. She huffs a laugh and goes back to scrubbing the suit.
"I did tell you to wait until you got back from delivering," she says.
"I know, but I need the energy!" he says sitting down into his comfy arm chair by the fireplace warming himself.
"You know your cheeks are only going to get rosier, the longer you sit there," she says. He just lets out a jolly chuckle.
"Just means I'll blend into my suit," he responds.
"Like a Christmas chameleon!," she giggles.
"Yes, at least I would be undetected by the mortals," he adds.
"Perhaps we should have a look into turning you into a Christmas chameleon?" She teases.
"And lose my beard, No!" he said.
"I would lose a husband," she says, "besides, I like you as you aware." She walks over and kisses his head.
"We wouldn't want that! I can't bare the thought of you being alone on Christmas. Their peaceful moment was soon interrupted by one of the elves, the elf burst through the door almost knocking a few ornaments off.
"I got the fairy dust!" she smiled.
"Thank you Sparkles," Mrs Claus smiled. "This may be the only thing that may work!" She says tapping some onto the suit.
"You'll be out there soon big guy!" The elf said and gently tapped his shoulder before exiting leaving them alone once more.
"Aha!" Mrs Claus exclaims.
"Please tell me it's working!" Santa says hopeful.
"It is yes, look at that like it never happened," she smiled handing the suit to her husband who pulled it on.
"Thank you," he smiled and kissed her cheek, "you saved Christmas!" He ran out to his sleigh and with a gentle tap the reindeer took off into the sky.
