Carriage Ride
Sam was finally home and home in time for Christmas. He had a very romantic evening planned for him and Giselle. "Hun I'm home!" he announces up the stairs.
"Yay!" She smiles and runs down the stairs like a child and squeezes him in a hug.
"You ready to go out?" he asks.
"You're taking me out?" she asks surprised.
"Yes, I need to make up for my absence," he responds gently stroking her hair. "Go get your coat." He pushes her upstairs. She runs around like a giddy child grabbing her long red wool coat with the black fur trim. She skips down the stairs trying to tie her laces to her boots. "Careful before you fall down the stairs!"
"I'll be okay," she giggles.
"I know, but you worry me when you skip down the stairs trying to tie your shoelaces!" he says taking her hands and leading her outside to the car. "Please get in my lady."
"Where are we going?" She asks.
"It's a surprise love," he responds gently squeezing her knee. They drove for about an hour singing along to Christmas songs, they finally reached their destination and before she climbed out he placed a blindfold love her eyes.
"What are you doing?" she asks.
"Just a little bit longer," he said. He led her to the horse and carriage and gently guided her hand to the horse's snout, she quickly pulled away until she heard the horse snort. She slips off the blindfold and looks at the horse and the carriage.
"You did this all for me?" She asks. He nods. "Oh, Sam!" She says gently patting the jet-black Friesian horse who had red ribbons in his mane and was covered in lights too, and all dressed up for Christmas. The carriage was white, decorated with blue and white lights, a blue and white wreath hung on the back as well as tinsel.
"I wasn't lying when I said I wanted to do something special," he said. He helped her climb into the carriage and they took off onto the snowy forest path. He even gave her a cup of hot chocolate, "Your favourite my darling." He also tucked a thick blanket around them that looked like fake deer fur. "Are you warm enough?"
"You did think of everything, and yes I am" she smiles taking a sip. They both lean back against the soft blue plush cushion, he had an arm around her shoulder. Giselle rested her head on his shoulder. "This is so magical, thank you."
"Anything for my princess," he says and kisses her head. The horse continued to trot along in the snow with the bells jingling on either side of the horse. Together they looked at the scenery and the forest that had been decorated with lights too, including generic lights and animal lights. "I couldn't think of a better way of spending time with my love than this," he says gently cuddling her closer. The carriage stops by a frozen lake which too had been decorated with a gazebo which had also been decorated in lights. A table and chair sat underneath it, there was mulled wine, hot chocolate, mince pies and brownies. There were also blankets on the chairs.
Sam helped her out of the carriage and onto the lake which had a wooden bridge built over the top of the ice to prevent slipping. The pair sat down, wrapped in blankets again and caught up on the time they had missed together, the clouds finally cleared, and the full moon shone behind them making the ice look like glass. After a few hours, they returned to the stables in the horse carriage and back to their car.
"What a perfect evening," she smiles, as climbs down and kisses him, "thank you,"
