Dec 8th; Nightmare Before Christmas
I Do not own any of the characters or places mentioned, I am just having a bit of fun with them for a little while!
This story was written in correlation with MagicofNarnia's posted prompt list, which also does not belong to me.
Alex age, 12
It was Christmas eve and Alex was on a snack run.
He did not usually have food cravings this late at night, but his excitement for tomorrow's festivities had given him an appetite.
He was padding down the hallway in his night clothes, slippers, and bathrobe, attempting to make the least amount of noise possible, and hopping to make it there and back again without meeting anyone.
He was moving past another nondescript door in the hallway, when suddenly it's knob turned and it opened inward, with a faint creak.
Alex stopped, his heart pounding wildly in his chest as he stared at the yawning blackness before him.
He knew that he should probably walk away right now and find help, sense doors do not naturally open like that.
At least that was what his good sense was telling him to do anyway.
The rest of him was begging to be satisfied with finding out what this was. Especially sense he was head of the Narnia's detective force, it was his job to do this sort of thing. And anyway, he was Lord, and a Knight of Narnia, and Lord's and Knights aren't afraid of an old, creaky door.
Cautiously he took a step forward, attempting to see if someone was lurking in the shadows.
He had never even been inside this room before, so he couldn't even say what he was getting himself into here, so he was being extra cautious.
One thing he did know was that the room was one of many that was not used for anything, so there shouldn't have been anyone in there.
It was than that he wished he had his sword, or at least his knife so that he was not completely defenseless.
Reaching forward, he slowly pushed the door open and stepped inside.
That was when he heard a mans low menacing voice say, "Alex".
Alex jumped at the sound of his name, uttering a gasp of freight at the voice that had spoken next to his ear.
"Alex" a women's voice purred venomously, in his other ear.
Alex flinched, his whole body shaking with terror. For this time the speaker was familiar to him. He would always remember HER voice.
"Don't you remember me, Alexander?" The white Witch cooed sweetly, and Alex shivered, feeling cold all of a sudden.
"You are the next victim of the nightmare before Christmas!" Mocked the first voice.
Terror gripped him in a choke hold, attempting to kill whatever was left of his courage to make him run away, as he continued to shake.
That was he woke up.
He sat up quickly, gasping and struggling to breath normally.
"That was all just a dream? It all seemed so real."
That was when he remembered the first voices words, "The nightmare before Christmas."
"I must have been thinking to much about that old Narnian Christmas legend before I went to bed." Alex theorized, with a shiver.
For as he had learned, every one hundred years, a castle royal supposedly dreamed the nightmare before Christmas.
Now if only he could be sure the story wasn't true, he might just be able to get back to sleep again tonight.
