Dec 15th; Blood Stained Snow
I Do not own any of the characters or places mentioned, I am just having a bit of fun with them for a little while!
This story was written in correlation with MagicofNarnia's posted prompt list, which also does not belong to me.
Edmund age, 16
Peter age, 19
Edmund stopped when he saw the blood in the snow.
He could see that it was a trail and that it lead of into the woods, to his left.
The tracks were clearly made by a human, and sense there was a very short list of, two humans, in the area of him and Peter's campsite, it had to be Peter, sense it clearly wasn't him.
He stood up abruptly, thinking nervously that whoever had hurt Peter might still be around, and therefore, this situation warranted a clear head. And as much as he wanted to just rush in there and help Peter, it would do no good if he got himself in trouble too, so he had to move with caution.
He started walking then, keeping a sharp eye out for his brother, as well as anything else suspicious.
He only hoped Peter's injury wasn't to bad and that his attacker was not still lurking about.
Up ahead.......
Peter had been following the trail of blood for about twenty minutes, all the while trying to figure out how their could be a blood trail, but no tracks.
He was alert and aware of his surroundings, expecting a trap with every step he took.
The only logical reason he could think of to explain it, was a bird that was continuing to fly, even though it was bleeding.
Only thing was, his gut told him it was for a more sinister reason.
And yet, onward he walked, with no end to the blood trail in sight.
A part of him was worried it was his brother, but he knew that Edmund could not fly without the help of his griffin friend, Ajax, which meant it wasn't Edmund's.
Either way, he just hoped his brother was not in any trouble, or even involved in this.
Suddenly he heard a cry of pain about five minutes behind him.
Abruptly he stopped, turned around, and took off running the way he had come.
He been wrong, so horribly wrong.......
Back to Edmund.........
Everything had gone smoothly, too smoothly, now that he thought about it, but it had all come crashing down on him when he passed that tree.
The hag had used some sort of dark magic to make herself look like an old tree, and waited for him.
Then when he had come by, she had attacked him, knocking him out, just after he had passed her.
He hadn't even had time to draw his sword.
Quickly he sat up, only to find that this set off new waves of pain through the back of his head, so he sank back down again.
"Woah, easy there Ed, your safe, the hags dead, don't worry."
"Peter?" Edmund asked in confusion, "What happened? How did you get here?"
"Slow down, Ed, one at a time. "Peter said reassuringly.
"I was up ahead of you and I heard you cry out, and came running. I caught the Hag readying to kill you and I ran her through."
Edmund groaned and turning his head slightly, he saw the hags body, her blood also staining the snow.
After Peter had helped him stand up, Edmund glanced down and saw his own blood had stained the snowy ground.
"So your not hurt?" Edmund asked Peter.
"I promise, I'm just fine." Peter replied calmly.
Then Edmund replied, "Then let's leave all this blood, behind! Clearly it was all a trick of hers to catch us off guard."
Peter nodded vigorously and together the two boys headed back to their camp.
