Strike one? Unexpected, yes. Strike two? Okay, coincidence... Possibly.
Dreamz was really... Really... Hoping that there wasn't a strike three.
Dreamz put in her earphones, as usual. She put on her backpack, and opened the door, her heart pounding in her chest.
She took a deep breath.
There wasn't going to be more birds.
No way there was going to be more birds.
She made her way towards the front entrance.
She slowly pushed open the door.
The yard was clear.
"Oh thank God." She sighed to herself, smiling as though an actual weight was just lifted off her shoulders. She stepped out, closed the door behind her, ready to take off to school.
But then, as she rotated to turn back to the sidewalk and be on her way, she saw it.
There was a partridge in a pear tree, two turtle doves, and three fluffy looking chickens pecking aimlessly at the ground.
"Oh, you're JOKING." Dreamz snapped to no one in particular, her head whipping back and forth in an effort to find the culprit, but there was no guilty party available to slaughter.
Her parents were definitely going to find all these bird eventually.
