An annoying sound like stones falling onto a surface close to him took Draco out of his unconsciousness. He heard Harry grumble and pulled him closer into his chest. He seemed to fall back asleep because his breathing got slow and even again, but Draco could not sleep with these sounds above him. He opened his eyes, trying to see in the dark.

He managed to make out a silhouette sitting up on the bed with a groan. "Ron, stop it." Draco whispered. "Har- I mean, Potter is sleeping."

"That's not me. There is an owl at the window." Ron whispered back, reluctantly standing up. "And you can start calling him Harry, you know. It's getting ridiculous."

Draco did not deem that worth an answer, silently watching Ron try to open the window but not reaching. Eventually, Ron gave up and sent Draco a glare. Draco sighed and regretfully left Potter's warmth. He heard Potter grumble and snuggle deeper into the covers as Draco stood up, trying to reach for the window himself but only barely grazing the handle. "Why is it so high up?" Draco hissed. At least the owl had stopped pecking the window now that he had the inhabitants's attention.

"Mum just-"

"Shh..." Draco interrupted, motioning towards the still sleeping Potter.

Ron rolled his eyes but whispered, "Mum just uses magic."

"Great." Draco grumbled, trying to reach for the window again. "I'm almost there. Try to lift me up."

"How?" Ron looked bewildered. "You're just as tall as me."

"Shh..." Draco glanced at Potter again. He was still sleeping peacefully. There was even a small smile gracing his lips. Ron's snort made Draco look back at him. "What?" He hissed.

Ron just shook his head with a stupid knowing smirk on his face and Draco did not like it at all. Then, the ginger took a step forward and swiftly lifted Draco up with his arms tightly around his waist. Draco, who had not expected the sudden action, let out an embarrassing high-pitched noise before grasping onto Ron's shoulders. He glared down at the Weasley who just smirked and raised his eyebrows, challenging Draco to get on with it. Draco could definitely see his kinship with the twins in that moment.

Instead of wasting his time glaring back, Draco lifted one arm to the window and opened it, letting the dark brown owl inside. Closing the window again, Ron let him down, surprisingly gently. Then, Ron went to the door and motioned the still slightly disorientated Draco and the owl to follow. The owl was faster.

Draco glanced at the still sleeping Potter one last time before closing the door and following Ron. "Seems like sleeping in your arms helps people sleep even through annoying noises." Ron commented on their way down. "Care sleeping in my bed tonight?"

Draco did not know if his head had ever turned that fast, but before he could worry too much, Ron burst out laughing.

"Your face, oh Merlin." Draco frowned as Ron tried to catch his breath. Then, he grinned at him in a way that reminded Draco of the twins again. "I'm just kidding, mate. I also don't want you in my bed. No offence."

"I almost forgot why I hate you." Draco grumbled. Ron just laughed and Draco wondered how he was so cheerful so early in the morning. The sun had not even risen.

Of course, that was the moment where they got stuck on the last step. They both looked up at the mistletoe, then at each other and groaned. "I've had enough gay action with you this morning." Ron grumbled but shuffled closer to Draco.

"My father would die if he ever saw me kissing a blood-traitor." Draco said.

"Is that still important to you?" Ron watched him closely.

"Not really." Draco said, a small smile tugging on his lips. "It's fun, rebelling against him like this."

"Well then, in that spirit." Ron leaned forward, bumping their noses together before pressing his lips to Draco's awkwardly. They pulled back laughing before leaving the step. The owl had settled down on the table and was hooting impatiently. "I can't believe I got to kiss you before Harry."

"We will never speak about this to anyone." Draco said.

"No problem." Ron said, freeing the owl from the letter and opening it. "It's from Hermione." Ron's whole face lit up.

"What's she saying?" Draco asked.

Ron stayed silent, different expressions crossing his face as he read the letter. In the end, he just lowered the letter with a look of fondness. "Hermione things. Scolding us for not writing, telling us to be careful, stuff about her boring home-life as an only child, telling us to prepare for school and have a nice holiday..."

"You love her, I get it." Draco interrupted.

Ron looked startled. "I don't- I have a girlfriend."

"You can't tell me you would take that annoying teenage girl over Granger." Draco said. "She just isn't making it that easy for you."

"It's not- I, umm... I wouldn't- I... Hermione is my best friend. I wouldn't- Lavender is-I mean... she's-"

"Good luck with that." Draco said, petting his shoulder and deciding to sit on the sofas by the fireplace.

"Like you're any better." Ron said, angrily stomping after him and sitting on a love seat. "You cuddle him during the night and then ignore him during the day. Except for those weird bedroom eyes you constantly send each other. It's disgusting."

"There's a slight misconception." Draco said. "I don't like Potter. I don't send him bedroom eyes. Those are glares of hate."

Ron was silent for a while and Draco did not have to look at him to know that he was looking at him in disbelief, but Draco pointedly looked into the fireplace. There were only  embers left from the day before and it was chilly. "How long do you want to keep lying to yourself, mate." Ron finally said. Draco stayed silent. He knew himself it was bullshit. But admitting that there was something... that made him want to have... something... together with Potter... Draco guessed he still had too much Malfoy pride.

Draco and Ron ended up playing chess early in the morning, cuddled in blankets to escape the early morning chill, while the other family members slowly came down one after another. Mr Weasley had to leave early again before the breakfast was ready.

"How can you play this awful game this early in the morning." Fred complained.

Fleur sat down next to Draco and started to give him advice in French. "That's not fair." Ron complained.

"I think it's very fair." Draco said. "I haven't won in ages." Ron squinted at them but let them team up reluctantly. Draco and Fleur's deliberations grew more and more frantic and Ron's smirk grew.

"Ronald, Draco dear." Molly said. "Could you finish this soon. Breakfast is almost ready. Only Harry and Ginny are missing."

"Don't worry, mum." Ron said. "I'll crush them in two more moves."

"Deux?" Fleur started talking in rapid French about the possibilities they still had but Draco groaned. When Ron had a plan, he had already thought through every possible scenario. So Draco concentrated on keeping his king safe.

Just as Ron made his prediction true and crushed Draco's king, Ginny and Potter finally came down the stairs. For some reason, everyone started laughing and cheering. At first, Draco and Ron thought it was for Ron's victory, even though that would have been weird because no one cheered for Ron anymore. He always won and it was boring.

They stood up and spotted the reason for the turmoil. And Draco did not like it at all. There, on the last step stuck under the mistletoe, stood Ginny and Potter. They were turned to each other with shy smiles and blushes across their cheeks. They took a step to close the distance and Potter had a hand on her arm way too gently. Draco did not feel his hands curl into a tight fist until he felt Ron give him a friendly pet. But Draco could not take his eyes off the yet sweetest kiss that was shared under that mistletoe. It itched Draco that it was not awkward, even when they broke apart with giggles and left the last step. That Weaselette still looked flushed and kind of smug as she sat down at the breakfast table.

Fred and George bursting out in obnoxious laughter finally made Draco stop watching that witch and frown at the twins. They seemed to be laughing at him. "What?" Draco snapped.

"Nothing, nothing." George said as he slowly came down.

"Nothing." Fred repeated as he also tried to stop laughing. Draco decided that he did not need to know what these prats were thinking and stomped over to the table, sitting between to Ron and Fleur. It gave him the perfect view on Ginny, who was sending Potter a not so secret smile. It made Draco's blood boil.

"Geez, Draco." Bill said warmly. "The table is gonna catch fire."

Draco glared at him before he decided to concentrate on his food.

In the evening, Draco found himself in front of the warm fireplace surrounded by Fred, George, Ron, Potter and Ginny. Fred was holding up a small bottle. "Like we promised."

Ginny leaned forward, scrutinizing the bottle, but Draco had already recognized it. "Let me guess," He said. "We're going to play Truth or Dare."

"No way." Ginny said when she finally caught on. "You got Vitaeserum. Truth potion." Fred and George nodded smugly.

"I'm honestly a bit scared." Ron admitted.

"Come on." Fred said. "We're all Gryffindors. Well, except this one."

Everyone turned to Draco. It was the first time today that Potter was looking at him directly. Potter had been avoiding Draco by all means. Or maybe just ignoring him. He still seemed to have problems with Draco having the Mark. Or maybe, his feelings for Ginny were awakened again this morning and he was not interested in Draco at all. Not that he was interested in the first place. Draco guessed he had just... hoped.

He straightened his back and held his nose high, showing off his Malfoy Dignity. "You're right. I'm not in your loser house. I can do better that all of you."

All the Weasleys just rolled their eyes and started taking small sips of the Vitaeserum. Potter seemed to be fighting back a smile but when Draco looked back at him, Potter just looked down to the ground.

"Okay, I'll start. Let's get this muggle game down." Fred announced after everyone had gotten to sip the potion. "Let's start easy. George, truth or dare."

"Truth." George said.

Fred groaned. "Boring. I already know everything about you."

"You said start easy." George shrugged. "Besides, you don't know if you know everything about me because the things you don't know about me you don't know."

"Okay," Fred said slowly, trying to catch on what his brother had said. "I have an idea. You remember last time that we've established that we hate sleeping in a room together because we can't wank without risking the other hearing?" He ignored the disgusted groans from the others. "When you did it anyways yesterday-"

"You heard that?!" George all but squeaked and his face colour got dangerously close to his hair colour.

"What and who were you thinking about?" Fred smirked.

If possible, George got even redder. "Umm... you remember that muggle girl who asked us where we got our jackets from in that muggle café two weeks ago?"

"Sure." Fred smirked. "You were stuttering like crazy. So still can't get her off your mind."

George shrugged, "She was cute. Anyways, Ginny, truth or dare?"

"Don't disappoint us." Fred grinned.

Ginny looked directly back at him. "Truth." She sassed and Fred groaned. "What did you bring the Vitaeserum for if you don't want us to take truth?"

"You're right." Fred admitted and started to whisper with George.

Finally, George turned to her. "Do you really love Dean?" They were talking about her current boyfriend, Dean Thomas.

"I'm not sure." Ginny said truthfully, although she had really no choice to be honest. "He's nice, most of the time, but..." She shrugged helplessly.

"But people with black hair and glasses are more your type?" George grinned teasingly.

"Dean has black hair." Ginny said.

"But no glasses."George said.

"And no pretty green eyes." Fred added.

"And no saviour status." George agreed.

Draco squinted at her, watching her reaction carefully. She had a slight blush on her face and threw a side glance at Potter, who was sitting next to her. Then, she straightened her back. Potter was looking down at his hands, trying to pretend like he had no idea who Fred and George were talking about. "I try not to fall for people who are already hopelessly in love with someone else." Ginny answered. And wait- what did she mean by that. He frowned as all red heads were looking at him.

"What?" Draco asked. 'Do you mean?' he would like to have added, but he did not want to seem too interested in Potter's love life.

The Weasleys just shook their heads and Ginny asked, "Draco, truth or dare."

"Truth." Draco said with all the dignity he could. "I'm not gonna be the first dare. I'm not mad."

"Do or did you ever sleep with Pansy Parkinson?" Ginny asked.

And- damn it. This was not something he wanted to share. It had been the most awkward evening and day after in his life. And through some weird pureblood magic surveillance, his dad had known and congratulated him per owl for growing into a man, but not to get her pregnant before they had graduated. He was never that much into his best female friend, but after that day, he somehow found her more unattractive than ever. He had not attempted to sleep with anyone since then.

He did not tell the others any of that though. He just said, "I did.", trying to keep the redness off his face and move on with his nose held up high. He saw Potter glare at him and he had no idea what his problem was. What was his answer to Potter? He ignored the approving "Ooh"'s of Fred and George and turned to Potter, because he was directly opposite of him and he had not said anything yet. "Potter, truth or dare."

The black haired boy gave him one of his glares that Draco was too familiar with and said, "Truth, Malfoy."

Draco probably should have thought about what to ask before he had agreed to this. There were many things he wanted to know about Potter. Dating preferences, did he like the kiss from Ginny?, sexual fantasies, what he really thought about Draco, if he could ever forgive him for having the Mark, what exactly made him angry right now...

But all of these were questions he did not know if he could handle hearing the honest answer to. Instead, he decided for a rather harmless question he would also ask on a date or something. "Best and worst Christmas present?"

Potter looked surprised but thoughtful. "Best was definitely the Firebolt from my godfather. And worst... must have been from my aunt and uncle. Maybe, they sent me a single tissue once. Or well, I think the old sock was worse. At least I could still use the tissue..."

"Your aunt and uncle gave you an old sock as a present?" Draco asked. "What did they want to say with that? Did you murder their cat or something?"

"No, they just don't like me." Potter shrugged.

"Don't you live with them?" Draco wondered.

Potter frowned, "How did you know?"

Draco shrugged. "I listen. Besides, everyone knows you don't have parents anymore." Potter nodded and turned to Fred. Before he could ask though, Draco inquired. "So you live with your relatives and they don't like you? Must be tough for them."

"Why for them?" Ron glared. Potter just looked hurt.

"Well, Potter is a wizard. And he's the famous Potter." Draco explained.

"So?" Ron snapped. Draco did not understand why he was so angry.

"Well, they must treat him like that, don't they?" Draco said, "They're probably jealous that he can do magic and has such a high position in such an amazing society and they still have to take care of him and be nice to him and treat him like the hero he's celebrated as."

"Harry has not the wonderful life you think." Ron said angrily, startling Draco. "His aunt and uncle make him do the housework and put iron bars in front of his window so he can't escape and he gets no food- OW!"

"Shut up, Ron!" Potter elbowed his best friend. "Fred, truth o-"

"You get mistreated at home?" Draco interrupted in disbelief. "Potter!"

"Just drop it." Potter struggled with dodging the question, especially with the Vitaeserum in his veins, but Draco needed to know.

"I'm not gonna drop it! Do these muggles undermine you? Do you get mistreated in your own home?"

Potter struggled with keeping his mouth shut, but he had no power against the potion, "No-, yes. I don't know. It's fine. No, it's not. I hate going home. They make me feel worthless and make me do all the housework and cook and I barely get to eat it myself and every time I do something wrong, which is somehow everything, they send me to my room without food and I have to sneak some at night and they do nothing against my cousin and his friends beating me up and they make no secret that they wish I didn't exist and until I found out I was a wizard shortly after my eleventh birthday, my sleeping place was the cupboard under the stairs- I..." Potter was panting, looking onto the ground.

"They didn't tell you you were a wizard until your eleventh birthday on 31 of July?" Draco asked in disbelief. "That means shortly before Hogwarts?"

Potter gave a small nod. Then he looked up at Draco, "How do you know when my birthday is?"

Draco shrugged, trying to fight off the blush. The truth was that he had always been trying to get as much information about Potter as possible. "That's beside the point." Draco felt a wave of anger bubbling up his gut and he stood up, "This is unacceptable! You are abused at home! These dirty muggles think they can treat you like dirt. You're Harry Potter, for Merlin's sake. How dare them! You deserve to live in a freaking palace, you stupid prick. I will hex those stupid muggles into a dirty little hole where they belong, a dirty stinking hole like themselves-"

"Draco!" Ginny interrupted his rant sternly. She looked alarmingly like Mrs Weasley. "It's still Harry's family."

"A nice family-" Draco wanted to start again but shut up at the look Ginny gave him. That girl could be scary. "Sorry." He sat down in his seat but could not stop seething. How dare anyone to mistreat his Ha-... He meant, Potter. How dare anyone to treat Potter this way!

"The old Malfoy," Potter interrupted the loaded silence softly, "Would have told me it's no wonder I am not loved by my family... or something."

Draco's eyes snapped up to meet Potter's. He hated to admit that he was right. Draco probably would have been cruel enough to bring his dead parents into the argument. His stomach twisted. He hated to admit how far he would have gone. And everything for what? Keep Potter's attention? Get his father's approval? Simply to be cruel? He had no idea. He had lost all of his old values.

He lowered his eyes to the ground, not being able to look into these green orbs anymore. He vaguely heard Potter ask Ron and he said "Dare."

Fred's loud "Ooh." And George saying, "Someone is getting daring.", brought Draco's attention back into the game.

"This truth got me too heavy." Ron shrugged.

"Umm..." Potter seemed to have difficulties coming up with a dare and looked around the room. He seemed to have found something and turned back to Ron. "Have you gotten stuck under the mistletoe again after we did?"

Ron smirked and Draco also had to suppress a grin. "Yes." Ron said truthfully.

"Okay." Potter said. "Since I know how much you hate kissing anyone but Lavender, even if it's just your siblings, I dare you to kiss the person you last got stuck under the mistletoe with, but on the mouth."

"Been there, done that." Ron smirked, getting up and stepping up to Draco, who let out a disbelieving laugh. Ron leaned down and kissed Draco on the mouth shortly, although less awkwardly than this morning.

Draco saw Potter looking between Ron and him in disbelief, then he glared at Ron. "You kissed Draco."

Ron nodded proudly, sitting back down. "Twice. It's fun, you should try it." Draco blushed, wondering since when Potter had started calling him Draco and why he looked so angry.

"How could you!" Potter hissed.

Ron shrugged. "You dared me. I just did what you said..." Ron gave up his proud teasing stance and grinned at Potter, petting his shoulder, "Relax, we got stuck under the mistletoe. It was awkward. And you pushed us into the second one."

"I didn't know it  was Dra- Malfoy." Potter glared.

"What's your problem?" Draco finally asked. "He would also have done it with any other person. What is it to you who he kisses?"

Potter's eyes widened and his cheeks started to redden. "Nothing." He mumbled and crossed his arms.

"Anyways." Ron said. "Fred, you are the only one left. Truth or dare."

"Dare." Fred shrugged.

"I dare you to kiss the best looking person in the room." Ron said, then quickly added, "Except for George because you will say he looks like you so he's obviously the prettiest."

Fred looked mildly impressed. "You know me so well, bro. But you could have been more creative. All these kissing dares." Fred shook his head, went over to Ginny, and gave her a sweet brotherly kiss.

"Aww," Ginny cooed. "You think I'm the prettiest."

"Well, obviously." Fred said. "Everyone else are dudes."

"There can also be pretty dudes." Potter protested.

"Yeah, we all know you find a dude prettier than me." Ginny rolled her eyes.

"Who?" Draco asked. She had said all of them knew, but Draco did not. And if everyone knew, he had the right to know as well. He did not understand why everyone was looking at him like that now. "What?"

"I think that's our cue to go to bed now, don't you think?" Potter said hastily. The Weasley's laughed but agreed. Draco was not sure why because they have not been playing for that long.

"Tomorrow is New Years." Ginny said. "We have to be wide awake for that."

And yes, New Years. Draco had almost forgotten. He almost dreaded that day because New Years meant only three more days until they had to go back to Hogwarts.

And if he was being honest with himself, he was scared shitless.
