The festive season is normally a time for family and friends getting together and being happy. That's what most people do, but for the Miami Dade Police Department Crime Lab most of that lot had to wait. Because even this time of year crime didn't stop. Horatio Caine is making his way into work one hot and sunny day at the end of November with his son Kyle who had been interning with the csi's for a few months.

Horatio had received messages from a few colleges telling him to get to work now as he is needed. Those kind of messages where normal,the not as normal part was the phone call he got from Alex asking why he hadn't said she was back in Miami and had they met up yet. H had no idea who Alex was on about,it was bad enough that recently he had been thinking about a past love he had had many years ago.

Of course H hadn't said anything out loud about his thoughts and he didn't feel like explaining all about Y/n to Kyle. Y/n was in H's life before he had Kyle and he had never mentioned her to his son. The rest of the team knew all about H's and Y/n's relationship in the past but they also kept it from Kyle at Horatio's asking. It wasn't that he was ashamed of the relationship it just wasn't his son's business.

On the drive up to the lab one vehicle stood out to H more than the rest. Apart from the normal police cars and Hummer's outside,there is also a Black Dodge Challenger parked outside. Surely it is just luck that Horatio had been thinking about Y/n recently and now there is a car like hers around. After parking the Hummer outside,Horatio made his way into the lab not sure what to think.

Normally the lab is moving smoothly but today there seamed to be know one working as they where all stood around talking. H made his way over to the group and as he got closer he recognized the voice of Y/n. So the car outside is hers but why is she here? When they saw that H had arrived the others went off to do there respective jobs,leaving just H and Y/n.

"I was beginning to wonder where you were" Y/n said
"I didn't know you where back in Miami" H tell's her
"I've been back here for the past year now,but seeing as your here now we have to talk" Y/n says
"About why you are here,you mean" H says
"Well that's one way of putting it"
