Chapter 2

My mom just sprung this on me yesterday. There was a knock on my door. The door pushed open and my mom walked in. "Oh Lexi, you haven't packed the first thing!" My mom gasped covering her mouth with her hand. "I was hoping if i didn't pack you'd let me stay?" I shrugged. "No listen here, we've been over this. You are not staying here. You don't wanna pack any of this? Fine the new owners will get a furnished room." My mother said storming out of my room. And my mom meant it too.

I starting packing things left and right. Shouldn't take me too long. Once it got a bit later in the day i would go see Hailey and Jeana and Tell them what happened. Then go and see Mark. He would take it the hardest of all i'm sure.

I looked around my room and started to get teary eyed. This room would no longer be my room. I had no clue what my new room would even look like. I started to take my posters down. Chad Michael Murray from One tree hill. Chace Crawford from Gossip Girls. Taylor Lautner from Twilight. Jesse Mccartney one of my favorite singers, he blew Justin bieber out of the water.

I went over to my bulletin board and started taking down all the pictures. There were some of me, Jenna and Hailey. Then some of me and Mark. Then i took down my twilight calendar. I started stacking all of it in a pile on top of my desk. I walked over and took my most favorite poster down, it was of fall out boy. Patrick gave me a funny look. I knew what he was thinking that i was going to run off to some stupid place to go through with some stupid dream of my parents. I mean ok if my parents came in here and said we were going on vacation to some stupid christmas town i wouldn't want to go. I'd beg them to let me stay here!

I heard a noise behind me. My mom walked in wearing this hideous christmas sweater, in the middle of may. Did she not know how goofy she looked, or how hot it was. And i swear she was not wearing that when she was in here earlier. "Breakfast is ready." She said to me. She didn't crack a smile. Maybe she didn't know she was wearing that ugly thing. Or maybe she was still ticked off at me.

I pulled the poster from the wall tape and all. "Ok i'll be right there." I said setting in into the pile. I walked over to my window and took my lime green and aqua blue curtains down. The light from outside came through the window. Boy was i going to miss that. I folded them up and put them into a box.

I walked into my bathroom and took the towel off my hair and sat it on my granite conter top. My hair had started to dry i put some gel in it and scrunched the ends just a bit to give me the beach waves i so often wore. I slumped down onto my toilet seat and took a look around my bathroom. My walls were painted pale green i had pictures of the beach on the walls and my shower curtain had palm trees on it. Could i actually use this stuff in my bathroom at our new house? Would it stick out like a sore thumb just like i would? I didn't have time to contemplate that at the time my dad was standing at my door tapping his foot.

"I'm coming." I said standing up. My parents weren't happy with my attitude but i didn't care i wasn't given a choice in the matter. So they would get whatever attitude i felt necessary. When i got into the kitchen my mother was on the phone. "Is that the biggest you have? This is going to be the big centerpiece in the middle of the square." I gave my dad a look. "She's ordering a christmas tree." He said nodding. "Right." Then my dads phone rang.

"Oh Herb great so how many toy soldiers can you get me....Oh great that's perfect." I started to see a pattern here my parents were going to be on the phone a lot over the next few days. I pulled a chair out and started to eat the pancakes. I dropped a little bit of syrup on my moms wooden table i wiped it up with a napkin and took a sip of my orange juice. I took a look around our kitchen.

There were family pictures up on the walls and lots of the fat italian chef. That was my mom's theme. She had lots of red and white checkered things as well. My eyes landed on my favorite family photo. It was taken when we first built this house. I was only five and i was clutching on to my mothers hand tightly.

I heard the phone ring again. "Hi Shelly thank you for taking us on such short notice. Yes we'll have everything out by then." Must of been the real estate lady. As i looked at both of my parents on the phone i realized that this wasn't a dream. That we were really and truly moving to a different state. Did they even have tanning beds there? I don't do white. I finished up my pan cakes and went to the sink. I tossed my dishes in and rinsed them off. I turned around. My parents were still on the phone so i went back to my room. I tapped up the last box that was full and folded another one.

I started taking all of my cds and stuffing them into there in a nice neat pile. I looked around the room. I didn't have much else to pack and it was only eight. I shuffled into the closet and started tossing out my flip flops left and right. I heard a noise behind me. "OW!" I turned around to see my mom grabbing her arm. Why in the world did she keep coming in here? Leave me alone already!

"What is this target practice?" My mother now had on a pair of red pants with christmas trees on them. Oh good grief it's growing. "What are you doing?" She asked seriously this time. "Packing what does it look like, although i think my feet will freeze if i wear these shoes there don't you think?" I asked. "Don't worry we'll take you shopping when we get there." "In no wheresville? can't we just go here?" I asked.

"Ok i tell you what you go find a shop here that sells parkas and you have a deal." I groaned she was right this was Florida, we didn't get snow. I shuddered at the thought. Snow, cold, crunchy, slushy, and white. I've never even seen real snow. Aside from the tv. What if i got frostbite and died. I bet you then my parents will be sorry they ever moved me there.

"Fine we'll go shopping ,what am i going to do with all of this stuff?" I asked. "Keep it during the summer it won't be too cold. But during the winter you'll want to bundle up." This was the second time she told me to bundle up. Just how cold was it going to be??My mom's cell phone rang. "Is that jingle bells?" I asked looking at her. "Yes i got it for half price don't you just love it?" I groaned as she walked off to answer her phone. My mom was turning into some Christmas feak. I always knew she liked christmas but this is a bit nuts. I think she's taking it a bit too far! At least i knew two people who would agree with me.
