Here's a preview of one of the early chapters of Vision Quest. Yeah, it is also a shameless attempt to squeeze one more vote for this story out of my readers.

POV Smiley Coyote:

Why me? You'd think after I'd helped out those other weird humans my cosmic dues would be paid. Now I have to be a spirit animal for a couple of college kids. At least those other humans pretty much had their heads straight. Yeah, they were weird, but all humans are. My first human was Lupin. He rescued me from my pack that had driven me off thinking I was too weak to survive the winter. I paid him back by guiding him to a gold mine. You can find out more about him in the Wattpad books "Joe's Bar and Grill" and "Another cup of Joe." The author made me add that plug for his other books.

My second human was Frosty. Also documented in the Wattpad story by the same name written by the author who hopefully is finished plugging his books. Anyway, Frosty and I spent two years together after he rescued me after I was hit by a car. We had a great time together, but Coyotes need to run free, and I had to leave. The universe had plans for me which apparently now included guiding these two clueless kids. Their quest was going to be quite unique.

In addition to serving as these kid's spirit animal, I will also act as the omniscient voice to provide narration for events when neither of the other two are present. I'll keep you posted on things like what the villains and other characters are up to and what they may be thinking. Omniscience is one of the few perks of being a spirit animal. For example, I can tell you that Frosty's dog the bar gave him for Christmas really is a descendant of mine, but that's another story far in the future. The downside to omniscience is it makes you acutely aware of the ubiquitous stupidity in the world. Humans!

Some readers might think it is weird that I'm breaking the fourth wall by talking directly to the readers. Well, talking via the author who is transcribing the thoughts I've put in his head. Let me ask you, who is really weird here? Who is the one reading a story narrated by a wild animal? Humans! What can I say, ubiquitous.
